  1. shoot mainly a Glock 27 and a Para 1911 45acp
  2. I'm from WV Steve, don't post much at all, been lurking around on here since 04 just reading mainly
  3. i know this helped me a good bit, still not where i need to be, but i have a glock, so i got online and bought a reset trigger system for it so i could dry fire multiple times without having to reset the trigger my self by slide action, it is modified trigger with a little heavier trigger weight and it just resets after each dry fire
  4. i currently have Unique powder and berrys 165grain fp my lyman manual shows the load data for a 165 grain bullet and unique to be minimum charge of 5.4 and max of 6.0 with 1.120 oal then i look on alliants site for unique load data and this is what i get 40 S&W 165 gr Speer GDHP Speer 1.12 4 CCI 500 Unique 7.2 1,064 - that seems like a big difference in charge? why is this so different with the same bullet weight(bullet type is different) and the same OAL also thanks for all the help too, just want to make sure i clear a few things up
  5. ok so i guess my main confusion is, if i want to shoot 165 grain fp with clays, i can use the data on the website for the 165 hollow point, but just start at there minimum charge and still use the OAL that they suggest sorry if i confuse anyone else too lol
  6. I am new to reloading and have a bullet question,, say i want to shoot a 40S&W 165grain bullet, and i want to use clays powder, now my lyman manual doesnt show a load for this setup, so i go online to Hodgdon website and they do show a load for a 165 grain SIE JHP, but my bullets are a Berrys 165grain FP, is the hollow point and the Flat Point the same when talking about loading, in other words, is a 165 grain bullet what i go by no matter the shape of bullet? and use the OAL of what they have listed on the hodgdon site no matter whether hollow point or flat point or even round nose for that instance Thanks
  7. no im not in the USCG,, anyone wanna trade some 40S&W brass that has a 1050????? i have a bunch of it
  8. well you can tell how much of a newb at this i am then cant ya, i am learning by reading and trial and error, so if this is crimped(which i didnt know what crimped primer pockets were or looked like) then would explain my troubles, i thought on the ones that wouldnt seat that the primer pockets looked like they had a sliver of brass like they werent the right size pockets or something
  9. i have a picture but dont know how to post it, i tried to use image host and post the link but this website says its not allowed
  10. Hello all, i am having some problems with my new 550, and im also new to reloading, i have everything setup to at least what i think is right, i adjusted the 2 screws on bottom to align with the handle in the priming position, and also adjusted the screw on back to touch the little stud thing with handle in primed position, looks like everything aligns ok, but when i try to put a primer in it acts like the primer pocket isnt big enough to accept primer, like little shavings come off sometimes, i tried loading about 20 rounds of 40S&W and about 50% of them would not prime, using winchester brass and cci small pistol primers anyone seen this before? i have a picture i can post, but not sure how to, of what the cases and primers look like Thanks Mike
  11. i have a Para SSP and i was just wondering if anyone could tell me what pound recoil spring comes factory in this model, it has a 5 inch barrel and what pound spring would be preferred in this gun Thanks Mike
  12. hello i have a few questions i just got a new Para Ordnance 1911 SSP 45 Cal. the problem from day 1 is that when i go to chamber a bullet out of the magazine, the bulllet wont chamber, its almost like it is coming out of the magazine at too steep of an angle and getting wedged up the guy at the gun shop where i bought said it just needs broke in and that it was dirty but it did this right out of the box, then i cleaned it very very good and it still does it anybody have any idea what to do, i tried different types of ammo and they all do it should i try to get them to give me the other gun they have in the case like it or any other ideas. i have only shot like 100 rounds through it Thanks Mike
  13. i am wanting to get started reloading by myself, i was looking at the Dillon Square Deal B for the 40 S&W, it says that it comes from the factory preset and ready to go, sounded good to me just wondering if anyone had any comments on this reloader and possible might reload 45acp also later, i guess i just have to get the conversion kit right
  14. hello everyone, i am new to reloading and have a question, my buddy is going to reoad for me i have a smith and wesson 40 cal., he reloads for rifle but not pistol i bought today RCBS 3 die kit, it has the i think it is called the deprimer, and the bullet seater and i have no idea what the other die is i has a metal thing in the middle of it can anyone tell me what this die is for, i dont think my buddy has any idea either also he tried to seat a few bullets after i deprimed them and i guess it sizes them too when you do that, and when he would press the bullet it would swell the case like the case isnt big enough or something if anyone has any ideas what i need to do and what the other die is for please please tell me thanks
  15. i was wondering if anyone has ever heard of Kead Bullets, i had just purchased some off of ebay if so any good or bad about them ive never reloaded before but going to start and just hope this style bullet is good enough just to target practice with

  18. i was just trying to get some info, i am new to shooting pistols, and i have never reloaded before, that being said could any body tell me if reloading a 40 S&W would be cheaper for me or not, i can go to my local walmart and buy a 100 pack of Winchester 165grain FMJ for 15.96. i know i have to buy the reloader and all that but once i get setup, anyone know what the price difference would be just wondering if it would be worth my time to do, i think i may like to do it i do a pretty good bit of shooting at the indoor range close to my house so i know i will be shooting a lot more Thanks
