  1. I've got one of these (got it on sale for a lot less):

I bought one of those. It lasted for about 6 months, then the front wheel snapped off. I've seen several other guys using this one, it seems much more robust than the folding wagon.

  2. I use Safariland 771s. I bought it for $17 each, I think I got a pretty good deal for the quality.

Say, WHERE did you find them for that price???

Optics planet. Every now and then they change their price on a given product. I've actually purchased one 773 for $17.98 plus the 5% coupon about a month ago. Added ELS inner belt for free shipping. I check their website constantly though.

Cop Quest has Safariland 771's for $21 each.

  3. I use a single Revolution Blade Tech, followed by Revolution a Blade Tech quad pouch.

It sounds awkward, but this way my hand goes back to the same location to pick up magazine #3 to #6 (if needed). I don't even think about which one, exterior or interior, to pick up, the first one I can grab is the one.

The single one in front is useful for all the short stages and classifiers which require only one reload. It is there by itself, no confusion whatsoever.

For the life of me, I do not understand why folks like to have magazines going back all the way to their sacrum.

Are those quad pouches legal for Single Stack?

  4. Tdh thanks for the info. I found it at brownells. It don't list the mainspring weight. Do I need to order the 19 pound one then to go with the kit?

And I'll ask before I do something wrong. I'll admit I'm not that familiar with the 1911. Do I just take apart the ILS and drop the other parts it? Is it that simple? Do I need a retaining pin, I was searching threads. And I read some use a mainspring retaining pin and some dont. Could someone explain that to me. I agree I'm going to remove the ILS but just want to know what is all involved before I order parts so I'm not short. Or can you walk me through the process? Thanks. I'd rather ask nd do it right than mess up my new gun. Thank you guys -chris

Edit.someone told me today at a match SA uses a different size firing pin. Is that correct? Or is the end brown one a drop in part? I don't know how to fit a firing pin if needed.

You can use the one that comes with the kit (I believe it is a standard 23# mainspring). The Ed Brown kit comes with a mainspring cap retaining pin, slide it in from the back of the MSH. SA uses a 9mm/38 firing pin (smaller tip) on all their 1911's, so if you order a replacement get the 9mm/38 firing pin (I kept the factory firing pin with the Ed Brown kit - no problems so far ~ approximately 6,000 rounds later).

  5. How hard was the front sight install? What height blade? I'm worried cause there's a roll pin in my front sight...... not sure how to remove it.

I got the sight from Dawson Precision. They include an aluminum punch to install it and they have nice videos on the sight. It took me about 30 - 40 minutes to install it myself.
    You will need:
    - a padded vice to hold your slide (I use two pieces of lumber to pad my vice)
    - a 1/16" punch to remove the roll pin that holds on the factory sight (you just tap it out from the top).
    - a small triangle file to fit the new sight
    - a sharpie to re-color the sight and see where material needs to be removed
    - Locktite to make sure your sight stays on.
The Trophy Match uses a 0.180" tall sight. You can choose from 3 different widths (I went with the 0.100" wide). I got the sight and tube of Loctite 620 for $50 shipped.

  6. I just bought the same gun to replace my SA Loaded. Its a great shooter straight out of the box (even better with a Dawson FO front sight). I've been running Tripp mags with great success (they feed everything) and CMC Power mags with round nose (not so great with SWC). Neither of my Springfields worked very well with Wilson 47D's.

  7. Switching from a long to a short trigger helped me with some of my trigger control issues. I was pushing my shots to the left (right handed) with the long trigger (using the tip of my finger). Switching to a short trigger allowed me to use the pad of my finger (near the 1st joint) and bring my groups into center.

This was my typical results with a long trigger:

  8. Hello,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I started shooting at some local matches about a year ago, that turned into shooting USPSA matches once a month about 6 months ago, and last month I joined USPSA and my local club. Now I am shooting Single Stack every other weekend and working on getting my initial classification.

This forum is really helpful and has answered nearly all of my questions without my having to post even once.
