To change calibers on the 550 casefeeder it only involves changing out 2- 3 pieces depending on caliber being loaded. 1- station 1 locator, 2-casefeed adaptor, and 3- casefeed plate then adjust casefeed cam.
For me the toughest part was adjusting the casefeed cam, but after doing it a few times and realizing it only takes a slight adjustment to dial in , now I can change over the casefeeder in less time it takes me to change calibers on the machine.

Yes, I would buy again. I have had mine for two years now and load 9mm, 38/357, 38 super, 44 mag, 45 colt, and 45 acp and have no problems.
Wish I would bought it sooner.

I have the same one you posted the link for, ( I bought thru Dillon), and I have no complaints at all.
use it all the time.

Youngeyes,, that's a nice setup you have, and I like the Zillon name.

The Dillon cover gets my vote, it will let it breathe so that it won't trap any moisture from humidity. I all ways had the Dillon cover on my 550, but when I added a case feeder to the 550 I had to get the 650 cover.

I've been drinking the blue koolaid since 1996, you will like it!! Enjoy!

We use them and really like them. It doesn't need a lot of down pressure to pick up the brass, but will pick up small rocks if using a lot of pressure.

bigarm, I know you are loading 40cal, but I have had that same thing with 45acp. And what to be my problem was either some debris between the platform and shell plate tipping the slightly as it went into the powder funnel or a case that had a very slight split right at the case mouth that I missed during inspection and caught on powder funnel. I don't know if those could happening with you, but it is what I found to be the issue with mine.
-
That's the way i do it. I just use those pictures in manual as a reference, Then adjust to what actually works for me. I haven't any problems with doing that way with my 550 and I've had it for twenty yrs.

No, you can mount directly to your bench and add casefeeder later. On mine it's 16 inches front to rear and 45 inches tall with strong mount.
Just be sure it is mounted solid, casefeeders don't like a lot vibration.

All of my metering problems w/ unique and red dot went away after I polished up the powder hopper and added a low powder sensor to keep the powder from bouncing around. A buddy of mine made a disk out of aluminum that fits the Dillon powder measure added a piece of 3/16 rod to keep weight on the powder and his metering problems went away as well.

I will have the same thing if I don't watch for debris getting in the primer cup. I blow out the primer area with lite air pressure either from my small air compressor or compressed air can. The debris comes from the primer pocket when depriming.

The powder baffle goes under the powder, drop baffle in first then add powder.

I used to have same problem w/ Red Dot and Unique powders (never used Green Dot), I bought the low powder sensor and since I started using it it has made my powder drops very consistent with both of those powders. I think it keeps enough weight on the powder to help it drop consistently.

I got my case feeder for my birthday last March and I load 9mm,45acp,38 super,38/357mag,44mag, and 45colt,and the only time I ever have a problem is when I short stroke the machine or not rotate the shell plate because my 2yr old made his way into the shop. And when either short strokeing or not turning the shell plate it will feed another case and that is a plus for me because it keeps me from the dreded double charge. I've never had a double charge or a squib in 18yrs I've had my 550 and I will continue to try and keep it that way. When get into my rythum I can load an average of 800rds an hour in 9mm,38 super, and 45acp. I only load for handgun on my 550.
Bottom line I love my case feeder!

Not sure around 2000, but when I bought mine in March of 1996 it was $298.95 + $20.74 shipping.

On my new 550 casefeeder it has the holes in the funnel on the bowl for the switch. Atleast on mine, I could move the switch from the tube for 550 to the funnel if I wanted to install it on a 650.

Email them with your problem, that's what I have been doing lately, and with in a week I get a shipping notice and it's delivered within 2 days.
Might just have been lucky to need in stock parts, but it has worked best for me during the current situation.

I have had mine since 1996, it's been a great machine, I only load handgun calibers on it and now that I've added a case feeder it's really nice to load with.
You will really enjoy that machine!

atbarr, mine loosened up after many years of use as well,I was able to use a long 1/8 allen wrench to reach from underneath the platform to retighten, beware, that if you remove the platform from the main shaft you need the alignment tool from Dillon to realign the platform to proper specs. they will send you on request.

Agreed Mastiff, this is one of the best forums of all. There is alot of knowlage and friendly folks here and they are willing to share and be helpful toward others.
I don't load the .223,it's not a cal. that appeals to me, there's nothing wrong with it. I only load handgun calibers on my 550 and load all my rile calibers on a single stage.
