The Brazos Barsto barrel/comp will require an immense amount of fitting, as most Barsto barrels do. Don't know about his other one/piece barrel/comp. Bob says he prefers the Barsto even though it is more work.
I put a Titanium comp on a Barsto Match Target Barrel. This fitting was insane but worth it.

I'd get in touch with Prasy Gunworks. Sean has a setup just for this.
Also touch base with Gans. He did mine. Beautiful work.

I'm perfectly happy with my custom 2011 Open guns. If I were going to change anything is would be to 38sc ASSUMING I could buy once fired, fully processed, same head stamp brass for the 5 cents I'm now paying for 9mm. I would enjoy the extra case capacity
I'm exactly where ZZT is at. Very pleased with my custom built 2011 9MM. Nothing exotic but excellent internals with a Titanium Comp. I would also like to go back to 38sc but the cost of brass caused me to switch to 9MM.

Interested in feedback from CO shooters who loaded VV340 with a 115 gr HP or plated. Looking for good, bad or ugly. Thanks

I have used Xtreme bullets for all my reloading
I also have used Xtreme for a long time with zero issues. They make a good product that is very consistent bullet to bullet. Many have stayed away from Xtreme because the price was nearly comparable to HP's. You need to find out if plated are accurate in your gun. As far as OAL goes, please do the plunk test in your barrel to find the optimal length. You also need to take into OAL consideration if that length will feed from your particular magazines. Hope you have the same success I have had with Xtreme's.

Go to reloading section in forum click on 9/38 you’ll find sever hundred loads recommend . And powder recommend. All guns are a little bit different.
Great advice. Work up load slowly as every gun is different. Buy a Chrono and use it. AA7 is also a great choice of powder. 10.5 gr under 115 gr PD. I do have 2 popple holes. Welcome to the world of reloading.

Use an oil, had similar problems even in normal temperatures. Listen to ChuckS.
This was exactly my problem during cold weather. I was using different types of lube and the thing would NOT run. Switched the oil in the colder temps and problem went away.

have no idea how many times my brass has been loaded. If it's not damaged, I'm going to use it.

Berry's heavy plate 9mm is considerably more accurate than X-Treme
Hey zzt, X-treme's are generally available. Berry's have been out of stock for some time. I'll also try CorrosionX. Thanks for the tip.

What can a heavy plate 9mm for take for velocity?
I've shot Xtreme 115 gr 9mm Heavy Plated RN at 1430 fps with no problems in my compensated blaster.

Whether you will have to tinker with your load or not depends on which plated bullet you were using
I've had good success with XTreme 115 Heavy Plated RN in 9mm when JHP dried up. Descent price but you pay for shipping.

This was my same experience. Sweet spot for faultless feeding was 1.245.

The powder measure casting broke at the very bottom of the measure where it clamps on the expander die. I noticed I wasn't getting much if any belling on the cases and the measure was hopping around noticeably.
This happened to me about 6 months ago. Called Dillon and told them what happened. Sent out a replacement that day. Great CS.

I'm using roll sized Blazer
I've been exclusively using full processed Blazer for the past year. Very reliable.

Which one is more accurate ?
Your barrel will tell you. Shoot them all and if possible various weights.

Is there anyone who never cleans the barrel in their open gun? No boresnake, no brush, no patches, no nothin’?
Nope. Never. Over 85K thru my 38SC and abt 10K thru my new 9MM. Only shoot CMJ or JHP.

I now buy all my brass from Kenneth Marx <kennethallanmarx@yahoo.com>
+1 on his brass. The beauty is all one headstamp of your choice which yields amazingly consistent OAL. Yes, it's a cost over picking up range brass. But worth the cost of not having to sort headstamp and step issues. Also, think of the cost of going to an out of town competition and having a head case separation. That will absolutely ruin your day. I'm talking from experience here.

Evening! Been a lurker here for bit and figured I would make a post. (Just excited) Picked up my first open from a local gun club member, CK Arms Thunder in 38sc
Dude, welcome to the most exciting division. You will not regret your decision and have lot's of fun along the way. Ton of great advice on this message board so don't be afraid to ask as many questions that may come to mind. Hope to compete with you somewhere down the line.

Be prepared to resubmit your credit card info once they say they're ready to ship... credit card authorizations are typically only good for 30 days and most companies authorize the card at the time of order. So, if you're 6 weeks from order you're card authorization is likely no good any more. I recently had to replace two orders under similar situations.
Thanks for the heads up.

Just save yourself the hassle and order jacketed bullets. I ordered from Montana Gold and Precision Delta during this latest shortage and received both in a week to 10 days
Hi Sarge,
Wish I had ordered PD when you did. My PD order is "Pending" now for 6 weeks.

WSP and WLP primers are a problem no matter how you load them
This has also been my experience. I can not use any type of Winchester primer in my Dillon 550 but will work ok in my 650. I know, weird.

They've worked for me in the past
Jim, they have also worked for me. I generally use SRP so I have the flexibility to use any powder that will make major.

Same with my gun. 3 PFS with 2 holes. My comp works best with a PF of 172-178 so 3 FPS was no big deal.
