Are you also having accuracy problems with the DVC ?
Not at all. I found some S&B NATO 124g ammo from a local supplier and the DVC loves it. I bought about 10 different types, manufacturer, grain weight etc ammo and the S&B NATO 124gr runs perfect and very accurate.

Thanks everyone for the replies....I can break this thing down blindfolded now.

I did and followed it to a "T".....it was perfect

First time for this pistol...not first time for a 1911 or 2011....the video was the key here....first time I have seen the Dawson guide rod procedure...i have about 15 videos and never saw the one posted here....Thanks 3GUN
I hate being a NOOB on stuff and I regularly buy equipment significantly over my skill level and then I just work into it (last year I bought a race paddleboard.....for my second trip very wet trip to the lake, but now I do 4 mile loops 3 days a week).....I sincerely appreciate you guys taking the time to assist me.....MUCH appreciated.

Hi all,
Well so far I have asked about ammo and received great replies and found some S&B 124Gr NATO surplus ammo that the gun loves. WAY better gun than I expected......spot on and FAR better than the G34 I was shooting with, you CAN buy more accuracy. I also have not noticed the casing flaring out like I did the first time on the range....but now, I am stuck.
After taking the slide lock pin out the slide WILL NOT budge to take off. I have looked for YouTube videos and cannot find one specific to the Tactical version with the Bul barrel and suppressor threads. I checked the box for a bushing wrench and it did not come with one. I emailed STI tonight but not sure when they will answer......
Any first hand suggestions?...

Strange thing is now they all look evenly burnt....they were burnt blue on one side right after firing yesterday but look clean now....

I received a nearly new STI DVC today from my FFL...what a great gun. Earlier in the day I picked up a G34 (usually shoot a G19 in USPSA with detrimental longer shot scoring). I shot the G34 with some WWB and found it to be much more accurate at 15yds than the G19. Then I brought out the DVC.....WOW....what an incredible trigger and huge difference....just what I was looking for. I realize that my skill level needs to increase to match the precision of this gun and am definitely looking forward to working with it more. However, I noticed that nearly every ejected casing from the DVC was severely burned up on one side...I had not seen this before in all of my shooting recently. Yes, I was shooting WWB in a DVC and should be taking out and beaten for it....but it is all I had and I HAD to go pump a few rounds through this beauty. I am planning on reloading as soon as I can dial down what the DVC likes to eat/spit out....
So my question is....is the one sided burned up shells indicative of an ammo issue or a DVC issue that I need to get addressed asap?

What I meant to say is that I don't shoot minor PF anymore, not insinuating anything.
HAHAHAA...all good, I thought it was pretty funny....

Good to know! Thanks

I have not ever shot a 2011 yet....it is on its way to me now. I have been shooting a G19 and a G34 using various different 115g box ammo with a preference for Fiocchi. the 34 didn't like 147g and I have never tried a 124g,,,I have a ton of work ahead of me I know.

I just completed a deal to pick up an STI DVC.....less than 200 rounds down the barrel....I am about to dive in deep in USPSA Limited and plan to shoot three events a week (Lucky to live in AZ!!). Been shooting a M&P 9L, G19 and 34 with just stock ammo's. I am working on picking up a Dillon SQ. Deal set up for 9mm but have ZERO idea where to start with the ammo. I am perusing other posts and making notes daily. I plan on going out and buying one box of every ammo I could find. 147g, 124g and 115g and throwing them all through the gun and once I find one that I like, just mirroring that round......anyone else have a better suggestion?

Any update on this?....I just picked up a DVC and am interested to find out what the solution was..
Thanks!

Your overthinking the ammo. Just get the cheapest you can find. In my experience with both my M&P 9mm, they will shoot everything including spitballs (not really but you get the point).
And you were VERY right....I shot 4 kinds of ammo and WWB 115g was actually the best of the bunch

Again, great information everyone thank you.
Anyone have any experience with the 115g Fiocchi Perfect rounds?....1k for under $200 shipped is a pretty good deal....(luckygunner.com)
I intend to shoot nearly everyday for the next month so I will definitely go through it all
On another note: I am looking for M&P accessories (magwells, holsters, mag pouches and extensions etc)./..I don't want to start another thread and be "that guy" but am curious what you all have found to be a quick and reliable website for this stuff......

Great info guys...much appreciated

Good info thanks....I have always been a FIOCCHI fan in my recreational shooting. Care to share your source or just local gun shops?

Just about to take possession of a Performance 5" to do Steel Challenge and other local competitions here in Phoenix AZ.
Anyone found a preferred ammo (and source) other than reloading, for the M&P?
Thanks

My DVC did not like any of the 147gr I shot and about half of the 115gr stuff was good to great but not as good as all of the 124gr I shot through it...
