FWIW, from all of the matches that I have worked (L1-L3) I don't recall seeing a Glock malfunction on a Glock that was only Glock parts (except 1 but that was a worn out 200K round G-17). It seems that the ones that did fail had Non-Glock Glock parts...

Other than that, don't drop stuff. 😉

Well it was my daughter, I have no control over that. It just bugs me that it is a pistol with 100 rounds. Imagine if the pistol falls with the slide locked back… I just don’t think a pistol that is used in combat should do that.

    That's very strange.

Has to be a manufacturing defect of some kind.  I've seen people do very stupid things with Glock's and they always seem to keep on going, so for a simple drop to cause that much damage there has to be something else going on.

Is it possible it was sold to you as "new" but was really a trade in from someone who broke it?

No, it was brand new. I the owner is a good friend of mine and a very serious dealer.  Very good reputation. The glock armorers said that is was a perfect storm fall.  Apparently they do that is dropped on that specific area.  There are a few posts on other forums with people having this happen to them.

  3. I purchased a brand new Glock 19 Gen 5 Sat Oct 1st at my local gun shop. On Monday I shot 100 rounds of Blazer 124 Brass and went to clean my pistol in the evening.  I was teaching my 7 year old daughter how to clean a handgun and she dropped the slide while attempting to scrub it with a microfiber towel.  She dropped it over concrete and I looked at it and all I had was a small scratch by the front sight, maddening but she is learning. Anyway, I went to put it together and it wouldn’t go that is when I noticed the right side was bent in cracked.  Now Glock wants to charge me for a whole new slide ($200).  Granted it was dropped but from the height of a 7 year old girl... a slide should not bend like that, you drop an Sig slide from that height and will chip the floor.  Needles to say I need a slide that can take a beating and is battle worthy, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  4. My 12 y/o son is wanting to start pistol shooting. I have a Beretta 92X Performance collecting dust at home and I was thinking about letting him use it for production and eventually Limited minor (the 92X Performance can start single action with safety on) until he is ready for a true limited or open gun.  What are your thoughts?? Thanks!

  5. Hello everyone, does anyone here practice dry fire with a fire pin activated laser insert? I am looking to practice with my rifle to get better at trigger control and breathing.  I have seen a few apps out there to have shots recorded. Any experience with any of these or are they just crapy apps? Thanks

I too was using a Dillon seating die and loading SNS 147 round nose. Was experiencing the same “nipple” look on the bullet tip. I believe the Dillon seating stem for the round nose has a vent hole at the tip that causes the “nipple” formation when seating a soft bullet. I changed to a Redding micrometer seating die and now my loaded rounds have no “nipples”.

Ok because that is what I am looking to go to.

  7. Quick question here.  I am using 147gr xtreme bullets for my 9mm.  I have used this setup for only those bullets.  I ran out of them and the only thing I could find was Berry’s bullets.  When I run the Berry’s through the seating die it gives me a weird circular deformation at the tip, almost like nipple looking.  Has this happened to any of you? BTW they are going to correct OAL.
