  1. I have a glock FL guide rod and use glock springs. I have 11lb to 15lb in 1lb increments.

Using a 13 in my open major 9 Core. Runs fine... will be testing loads with a 12lb when bullets get here.

Will use the 11lb for my lite steel loads.

  2. It will never be at a 2011 level BUT I'm just a REBEL!!!!

The 1lb 10oz trigger works RELIABLE.

The 8.8gr of 3n38 works almost great ,

Shoots pretty flat.... but wanna try 9.0 and 9.2 Dot track better than HS-6 and STRAIGHT.

(Outta 124gr PD JHP until they arrive)

And wanna try a 12lb glock spring, have a 13lb in it now.

  3. My pet project is a gen 1 core . KKM 5.5 threaded barrel with a 11 port SJC COMP. Frame mounted C-more.

And 8.8grs of 3n38 shot a PD 124gr JHP pretty flat and dot tracked straight . I do want to try 9.0 and 9.2 but stuck waiting on more PD back ordered 124gr jhp.

I'm using a glock 13lb spring now and I'm wondering if I can go lower or how low can I go?

The load has no pressure signs.

  4. As a tool maker I had to ask.

I have in the past ran EDM Sinker and spent the last 20 plus years running Wire EDM and mills, I've settled into managing shops and running the Wire machines.

The EDM process leaves NO BURRS .

I have used wire EDM to lighten my slides.... I have been thinking of adding popple holes and wanted to hear what others have done (drilled or EDM as Magna Port does).

The shop I run now has no sinker or hole popper. And deburring the inside of a barrel is tough to get the inside as clean and sharp as EDM.

So now I ask how much more powder will be needed if I add three .156 Dia.  Holes.

Wish I could add my hi res pix of the slide cut I've done. But it wont let me.

    Thanks for your input.

  5. I've come across some videos and post here of people drilling their holes.

Burr vs no burr ... accuracy has to suffer by drilling just because of the Burr. Even plunge cutting with a 4 flute center cutting endmill will leave a burr.

What's your experience with either way?

Thanks Zack and Tooth. The metal left between the cutouts probably looks thinner than it is, but it is very thin. It is surprisingly strong, and I trust Scott Springer's judgment completely.

I just took it out back and tried a couple of loads. With 4.2gr of WSF it would stovepipe and not drive the slide all the way back. At 4.5 grains it was almost there, very close, but the fired cases wouldn't quite clear the gun. It looks like for WSF it will be 4.7gr of WSF, which is what we have run in our production XDm 9mm's for USPSA, and also the load our other compensated XDm seems to like the best. I thought with the slide being lightened on this one might make a difference. As far as feel, it makes a real difference. The dot was barely moving at all, and not much of a push either. I have a good stockpile of the 4.7gr loads so I am going to head to the range with it and some other guns in a bit.

thompsoncustom, it wouldn't cost much to send your slide to someone to have it lightened a bit. Are threaded barrels readily available for the CZ75's? If they are, that would probably be a pretty inexpensive way to try it out. With regard to the Serendipity, make sure you talk with some other CZ folks that have run that mount. WIth some guns that mount, being two sided, can cause some ejection problems. Might want to see if there is a single/non-ejection side mount for the CZ's. Another option might be a slide ride sight of some sort. I have two friends that have been running Leupold Delta Points on their 38 Super open guns and have been very happy with them. Maybe when you send the slide to get lightened you could have the gunsmith also mill the back of the slide and drill and tap for an optic? Some of the S&W's come that way not, and it's pretty cool. Gets your sight as close to the bore as possible. Folks seem happy with the Trijicon RMR sights for that application. Have fun, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    Hi all,

We are still setting up shop and getting our tooling together. Making one or two is one thing, but making the slides in production numbers is a whole other ball of wax.

I will update you  as soon as I have good news.

    Thanks!

Will the new slide/threaded barrel fit on to my GEN 1 core?

Wil S and Sandy S were friends way back when.  Sandy built a fixture that really allowed for accuracy testing of the barrels.

Mike did the best job he could when he owned the company.  I shot Nationals with Mike and he was a gentlemen.

SV barrels look a lot like Schuemann barrels for a reason, that is not to say that Brandon/Sandy might not have made improvements.

SV is a great company, superior customer service.

They are worth the six week wait time.

IMO, Schuemann barrels are slower than either Nowlin or Kart.  I was able to side by side comparison testing with all three barrels and they were slower.

Are you talking about way back ... as in Neavda days?
