Yes mark you are right. I read the description again and it says that it locks every 1/4 of a turn. Do you think a standard gas block would be a little better in that field since you can tun it exactly how far you want it closed or open....? Or is it really that sensitive?

Thanks Jesse that's the conclusion I'm getting to.... Great mount as long as you can mount it far enough forward on the rails to get a good eye relief. Might have to play with it once I get the gun and scope in. Then buy the mount accordingly.

I too would have to agree with pat. I have looked through several US optics and have not been impressed.... they make a good optic but are too heavy and overpriced for what they are.... just my opinion though.... Thanks jaxshooter thats probably exactly what ill do for my 22. Decent rings and cheaper scope.

Thank you for the responses. This all helps me but I still havent decided.... One more question. Which one would you choose if you wanted to run a suppressor latter? Right now im really leaning toward the syrac simply because its easier to adjust if I have to and less likely to fail on me.... (screw back out) Also if I need to adjust or simply want to I dont need to worry about loctite... One less thing to worry about.... I dont know decisions decisions decisions....

How much does weather effect the gas block? I live in Texas where the weather can change over 50 degrees every few days... It's 40 right now but could go up to 95 next week... Would I have to adjust the gas block to keep the gun running? I would like to use the adjustable gas block to my advantage and have a flat soft shooter but I want it to function as well....

You are right tar but this will be a dual purpose rifle. And I like allot of magnification wether I need it or not it makes me feel better.... I'm not saying I wouldn't buy a cheaper 1-4 for now if I got a good deal on one but I would like more magnification for 200+ I'm going to another local event next weekend to see how far they shoot. If its no further then 150-200 I may get the 1-4 and get a bigger 4-16 or 5-25 for the other comps.... Thanks again for all the different views and ideas!

Good point pat but I don't have a backup scope nor a second ar so the only benefit would be cleaning. however I know that I would be anal and not want to take the scope off... So as of right now I'm leaning toward a one piece mount warne or ad

How often do you actually change the setting on your gas block if your running three gun as well as other competitions...? Is it a set and forget or not?

You are right and I have heard that as well as some running a 20 in barrel instead of the 18in more for weight then anything else... Any thoughts about the gas block???

Part of me just thinks if there isnt a difference then why does JP himself shoot the medium contour? and why would they still offer it....? To most this is a stupid fight but I just want to be sure I get every possible advantage I can....

I fully understand that but it is harder for me to spend 1400 on a 1-6 scope then say a 5-25 or 12-32 scope.... but then again the vortex is about 1,000-2,000 less then some of those scopes. Maybe I should just stop bitching..... Anyone using the warne ramp on any jp rifles? with vortex hd 1-6?

is that because of the locking mechanism? or are they just better? I have read that you need to use loctite when you adjust your gas block but does it hold? or is it just a convenience to adjust the gas block and know its locked in place? How often do you adjust the gas block?

So Ive been looking at getting a jp rifle built. Either psc 11 or scr 11. I planed to get the medium contour 18 in barrel but saw that I couldnt get the Syrac Ordnance gas block on the medium contour barrel. Syrac Ordnance gas block only fit the light contour barrel. Im new to ar rifles and like that the syrac ordnance gas block because it locks in place when you adjust it. Is this a big deal or not...? or are the low profile jp gas blocks just as good? I would like to get a suppressor eventually but this would be a long way down the road. just dont want to spend money down the raod if it isnt necessary

Yea thats what i was thinking. And I know three gun is probably the most expensive shooting sport!!!!! I just looked at it as a way to keep everything as close as possible to the 223. And i could use the 200-400 on bullets not mount and cheap scope.... But I guess there's no short cut there either..... Break out the credit card!!! ;> Still curious to hear what others think about quick detach mounts....? How far of a poi shift are you seeing?
