  1. Getting my 1050 switched over from 9mm to .40. I loaded up some ammo yesterday and chronoed it. I'm still in the testing phase so I loaded up 4.0 gr of E3. I also had some loaded ammo I got from a fellow shooter.  So that's two different batches of ammo, on two different 1050's, both using E3.

While chronoing I was getting 130 ES and 36 SD. I tested about 50 rounds of each load in 10 shot increments.

I've noticed when loading that I'm getting .1 - .2 gr fluctuatations just about everytime I weigh a charge.  Since I'm still getting the press set up, I'm weighing a lot. I've had about 200-300 drops at 4.0 gr so I'd think the powder is setteld in the hopper.

My powder for 9mm was prima v and even though it's oddly shaped powder, it metered extremely consistent and I'd get a SD of around 8 everytime I'd chrono.

My load is 180 gr Xtreme @ 1.185" w/4.0 E3 (going to bump it up to 4.2). Mixed brass. Win SPP.

    The other load I tested was 4.1 E3. 180 Berry's @ 1.185" mixed brass win SPP.

    Is this common fo E3?

I think I'm gonna go to Nobel Sport 9 1/2 and try 5.0 gr. Since it's supposed to be equal to N320.

    Not impressed with E3.

In my CZ TS I normally get an SD of ~17.5 using e3 and 180g Bayou's

  2. I messaged Hiperfire to confirm that their trigger is covered by warrantee in the MPX.
They told me that any of their 24 series works and is covered.
I have the 24C in my carbine and the 24-3G in my pistol.
    Both feel fantastic.
Check out Timney triggers. They just released an an MPX specific version.

  3. Experiences vary quite a bit. Someone some where has gotten each vendors extension to work for them. The flip-side is also true with failures to work. Be prepared to invest and experiment. Hopefully you'll hit a homerun with your first choice.

Bullet choice and your loaded OAL will factor in as well.

My own best experience is running the MBX Mega.

    Hi PHX,

How do you like the offset mount?  Ever run into offset issues or shoot up barricades?

I had the nutty thought or running one of these with Vortex Venoms on either side:

    https://www.barska.com/picatinny-style-dual-offset-rail-by-barska.html

I am not sure that it would work, but I would only be out $20 for the mount.

Hey NL,  I like the offset mount but, it takes some practice to use it on walls or barricades to my left-side.  One technique is to use my left eye with the right one (dominant eye) closed while rotating the carbine towards the left side.  If there are a number of stage features requiring those type of shots I have also turned on the laser mounted up by where I normally place my left-forward hand.  I've have nicked a few no-shoots with the offset but, again that's a practice issue.  I have seen several rifles with a primary and secondary optic.  The secondary mounted with a single 45-degree rail to the right side.

I think Doug is great and everything, an Area match win where the highest class in your division is A is probably not an accomplishment he would hang his hat on. His Bianchi work is clearly more impressive...at least to me.
Agree however, having him winning with a Ruger would be a bigger deal to them

  6. I've one on my FX-9. I was able to remove the stock rubber pad and mount it with a pair of longer screws. I also have a C-more on the carbine using the MBX offset mount. As a pair they allow me to keep my head completely upright. I use a thin neoprene pad where the stock contacts the side of my face.

  7. My experiences echo the other posters: all positive about going direct to Dillon.

Their shipping costs are usually a good deal as well, frequently a fraction of some that sell on eBay.

The only trouble I've had with Amazon is that while they are speedy they are not experts on what they sell. If their data is incorrect or in their haste to pull products from the bin, the wrong items show-up. When it's a direct shipment from the vendor no problems on getting the correct item it's just slower. I've returned 5 items in the last 2-months that were the wrong items - not what was listed, not in the original container (not verifiable) and all shooting related.

  8. Some people have had good success with them, while others were not able to make them work reliably.  I think some of this has to do with the bullet type and profile interfering with the mag extension.  I really liked the idea of the bottom plate making them really easy to clean, but several people complaining that they were unable to make them work, even after doing whatr MBX recommended, that scared me away.  I ended up getting the Taccom extension and, although it is more difficult to clean, it has run perfectly for me.  I do not drop the mag as that would necessitate cleaning it.  I also have a Taccom splice for really big stages.
Its fascinating and frustrating. I've had just the opposite experiences. I struggled to get the Taccom extensions to work reliability but couldn't. While l've had great success with the MBX mega extensions.

There are other options that will give you 50+ or 60+ for a lot less money, but they are also VERY long.  This is compact enough to be usable in situations where the long stick would not be suitable ... like prone.   It is way too expensive though.
The small form-factor and reliability (from reviews) are it's selling points. They've been talking a Glock version for some time but haven't heard of a progress update

  10. So winter is finally arriving in Louisiana.  I'm looking for a very thin pair of gloves to shoot in.  They need to be thin because I have small hands so they barely fit my 2011 now.  Don't need to be super warm as it doesn't get that cold just really something to block wind and not have to grab a cold gun.

As it sits right now. Its been an ever evolving gun and I feel 95% satisfied with it. I'd like a 14.5" barrel lighter than the JP and Im still messing with optics to find a balance between durability, veiw, and battery life.

    who's magwell are you running?

  12. I would look at the Vortex AMG UH-1. I'm loving mine. Its a better Eotech.
I have a C-more railway 8-MOA that uses the MBX offset mount along with their Fang stock pad. This allows you to cheek-weld without tilting your head.

One of the PCC guys in our squad today had one. We got a little backed up at one of the stages with some time to kill so a couple of other PCCer's gave the 51 round a try.
Worked great. No problems. Looks good, too.
Unfortunately they won't ship to states like Maryland over concerns with capacity restrictions.

  14. I am ordering a JP GMR 15 and need to know if all Glock 9mm mags will work ? I know nothing about Glocks.
    Thanks a lot.
    SR
First you'll want to obtain G17 for classifiers where reloading is required and normal belt pouches can be used. Also, you need to buy the 33-rnd magazine for field courses. Most folks will opt to add extensions to those mags from folks such as Taylor Freelance, Taccom or MBX. These add-on will push your capacity up over 40+ rounds.

  15. Looking for suggestions on loading 9mm for PCC. Im using 124gr coated lead, VV N320, and a JP Barrel. Anyone got a suggestion that works well for them? My JP's chamber is really long, wondering on what OAL to go with.
I'm using 135g Bayou RN coated bullets over 3.1g of e3. The OAL is 1.12 which is driven by getting reliable magazine feeding; Taylor Freelance extensions.

  16. I went through 3 Zev triggers. In my G35 I kept having the portion of the trigger where they insert a small spring for the safety break. They covered the first two with a replacement item. Last one they didn't and that's when I switched to glocktriggers.com.

  17. I shot a Cajunized SP01 in production before getting a TSO and shooting in limited.  If you already have a SP01 converting to SAO would be much cheaper than getting a new gun.  However if you are purchasing a new gun for limited, get the TS.  It is a shooter out of the box, doesn't need anything to jump into limited..well maybe a set of grips.

Consider trying a TS or TSO in .40.  It is day/night difference from a plastic .40.
I have both as well. I've also shot CO with a mount on the SP-01 using Springer Precision mag extensions (22+1 capacity).

With the CGW Pro package you could have a production legal pistol that could also be used in Limited "cocked and locked". The single action trigger pull would be slightly over 2#s. My TS is slightly over 1#.

It would be running minor loads however which puts you at a competitive disadvantage unless you are a very high percentage "A" zone shooter.
