What’s the best extended firing pin for a Smith & Wesson?
-
I load my bulk .38s on an SDB.
-
.358 for lead/moly/poly coated, .357 for jacketed and all of the Plated I've had were sized .357.
There’s no one-size-fits-all rule for cast bullets. They need to be sized to fit your chamber throats.
Every Smith .357 I’ve ever owned had VERY tight .357 throats that a .358 bullet wouldn’t slip through without a lot of effort. -
6-shot, which is ideal for USPSA Revo major and IDPA. Works great for ICORE Limited 6, too, just a little extra hand-slappy.
If you’re gonna go N-frame, May as well make it a .45. Loads faster with moons, too. -
What’s a good holster & pouch for the G35?
Thanks.

I run a Safariland 568 or Garrett Industries Silent Thunder OWB.

What combination of sight & mount put the dot nearest the axis of the bore on an S&W, i.e. what would have the lowest profile?
-
Thanks for the visual

I guess techcically this question belongs in a gunsmithing forum but since it's revolver-specific, I'll post it here:
Does anyone use a bench-mounted buffer to polish S&W action parts?
If so:
What RPM are you running?
What kind of wheel (soft, hard, stiched, etc)?
What's your compund?
Thanks.

What load are you 625 shooters running?
-
I use nothing but TK Custom. I bought a large of inexpensive poorly stamped moonclips and they would bind the cylinder. No issues with the TK’s.

Do TKs require a mooning tool, and are they persnickety about what kind of brass?
I've run their .40s for a GP100 and almost had to stand on em to get them in wo a tool. -
What's the best moon clips to run in a 625?
-
Doesn't pay much, but you get to keep the tips...
Stay away from half-off sales. -
I don't know how you guys carry strong-side reloads. They get in the way of my draw.
-
You must mean the Super GP100??
One of the nicest double actions that I've tried was a regular GP100 that had been polished and tweaked by a guy who knew what he was doing. Mine is just sort of OK (out of the box).
I have no doubt the Super GP100 is better, and can be improved.
Out of curiosity, who is that guy? -
I run a Model 66 with Toolguys .10" FO front in a Safariland 568 paddle. Comp 3 SLs and pouches I think are Ready Tactical. Been a while since I bought them.
Since the 625 is a bit big for my stubby fingers, and 646s are too damned expensive, I'm contemplating a switch to my GP100 MC 10mm in a Garret Industries Silent Thunder. I really dig this holster.
Thus far, I havent seen that my reloads from moons are significantly faster. -
3.1 Clays with either the Bayou 160 or Brazos Precision 158.
-
Does Blade Tech even make revolver holsters anymore?
I looked & looked for one for my GP 100 and finally bought a Garret Industries Silent Thunder. A little pricey but a very nice holster. -
I think I bought one Saturday.
Do you have a holster recommendation?
You think you bought one???
I run a Garrett Industries holster, I think they call it Silent Thunder OWB. -
Interesting thread.
I’m contemplating the switch to moons from my M-66.
My problem with the 625 is size matters to my stubby fingers, plus the weight.
I swapped for a GP100 MC 10mm a couple years back and it’s likely to get the nod once I find a suitable load and shoot enough to get used to the trigger. And chamfer the chamber mouths.
S&W could solve this by brining back the 646. That’d be the IDPA to version the 986.
One advantage of the 625 I don’t see mentioned is the bigger bullet turning a one-down to a zero-down.
Then the other downside is weight. It’ll slow down your draw.

Negative. I do not currently have a bullet feeder. It was on my Christmas list but Santa didn't come through.
I use the MBF bullet feeder die as a manual "bullet dropper".
So rather than placing the bullet on the case with my fingers I can mindlessly place bullets in the die and let it do the dirty work.
It is much faster for me to place a bullet that way. It holds about six 9mm bullets.
When I do buy a bullet feeder it will be either the MBF or one of the 3D printed alternatives. Based upon feedback I've received the Hornady feeder is not a consideration.
Cool. The main reason I want a feeder is so I don’t have to do it with my fingers and try to keep them from tipping. -
I tried for a week to make the Hornady die work and got it from "didn't work at all" to "hey, it works, oops, maybe not".
Gave up and bought the MBF die. Set it up per instructions. Worked from the start. I now have three of them and have never had an issue.
So, you use the Hornady feeder with the MBF die?

I’m having trouble finding Clays lately.
What’s a good substitute 38 special minor?
I run BrazosJake 158 RNs over 3.1 grains.

Thanks, that’s good information.
A big FU to MLB!

It’s bad enough they auction off TV rights for each individual game in a playoff series to the highest bidder, so we have to go to search to find where to watch and pray it’s a channel your provider offers.
Now you’ve got to have every streaming service on the planet to catch all of your team’s games.
Life was so much simpler when the Rangers were televised on a jerkwater local channel.
Of course they sucked in those days, but I never missed a game and never paid to watch.
