Aircooled, are you referring to the Taylor Freelance Uzi +10 extensions?

My TS top end is finished and on the way back to me from CZC. I'm excited to try my own longslide!

Not being a CZ guy I have very limited knowledge of them. Is the compact available as a single safety or can the off side be removed. I sent an e-mail to CZ custom about a week ago but have not received a reply.
Thanks
Gary, CZ makes a huge variety of different models. They are generally available in batches. The steel framed railed compacts with ambi safeties are a unique pistol that reportedly were a special order run that was not purchased by the entity that ordered it. However, you should be able to find a non railed steel framed compact with a single sided safety, a 75c. That is a typical configuration for steel framed compacts with safety. I just did a quick search on gunbroker and there are several available in the $500 price range. Regarding safety removal, I'm not sure what would be involved in doing this. eerw could answer. However, you shouldn't need to do this. You can buy a compact with a single sided safety.
Or, you can buy a p01 which is the decocker model. The difference is with the decocker model you will start hammer down while with the 75c you can start hammer down or condition 1, which you might prefer as a 1911 guy. Also, the safety models are easier to disassemble and tune than the decocker guns. If you take up CZs, you will learn to work on them yourself. They are harder to disassemble and reassemble than 1911s.

I can not find language that prohibits an ambi safety. Can you explain ?
Thanks
Like sfinney says, its a width issue. There is no rational reason a right hand shooter should be able to shoot a particular pistol with a single sided safety that a left handed shooter cannot shoot with an ambi safety.

Steel framed railed compact with thin safeties is thin enough with thin grips and it is under 38 oz with a mag.
-
The steel framed railed compact has very thin safeties. I've got one. Its a nice gun. I'm not sure if it would fit in the box.
I also have a P 01 omega that I'm running with safeties. It's a great carry piece.
The CCP rules discriminate against us lefties. It makes no sense that a single sided decocker P 01 would be legal while one of the ambi CZs wouldn't be.

I only do this about once a year. More typically, I just wipe down the gun, run a patch through the bore, and put on fresh oil.
-
My most recent acquisition is a dan Wesson guardian in .45. It carries beautifully in a sparks nexus.

Mineral spirits is what I use and I have a compressor.

Do you think the fumes from Acetone are worse than solvent?
Yes, acetone and toluene are quite a bit more toxic than solvent.
-
Breathing that stuff is not good for you. Why not brush the inside of the gun down with solvent and then blow it out with compressed air?

I have a 6951 and bought it several years ago. I installed a geissele trigger and a new handguard. It's needed some tuning. It's a nice rifle. However, the price with the extras is creeping towards the price of a jp.
I love my metal CZ pistols. I handled one of the CZ rifles a couple weekends ago and it just didn't feel that good to me. I have a friend with one that doesn't run. In addition, I'm very familiar with the AR platform and therefore the location of the CZ controls seemed strange.
Re the sig, they are pretty costly and I'm betting there is a lot more evolution that will occur.
If I were in the market today, I'd buy the new jp. My 223 jp is a stunningly good rifle.

Yesterday's test session of a couple hundred rounds went 100%. Time will tell but in my world adjusting extractor tension is something that should be considered with an AR 9..
-
Loaded rounds plunk test fine and empty cases are in the same position as loaded rounds. I took some tension out of the extractor and will take it to the range for some testing this weekend. But we know issues manifest on the clock.
I like this gun but I need to get it to the point where it runs reliably.
-
To follow up, I pulled the bolt today and the extractor tension feels very very high. I'm going to drop more tension and do a test session. I'd still love to hear from others.
About all I can find on line is some folks complaining about their PSA's breaking extractors and one guy on youtube with a PSA who has what appear to be a similar problem to what I have experienced although his problem manifests much more frequently than mine and he does no diagnosis.
-
I have had to tune the extractor on my colt. I had instances of the extractor hook not engaging the cartridge rim upon feeding resulting in a failure to fire and then a failure to extract and a double feed upon working the bolt. I polished the extractor and dropped some tension and it ran great for the next 500 rounds, until the 4th stage of this past weekends IDPA where it happened again. I'll check it out again and maybe drop a bit more tension. If it happens again, I'll probably just pick up a jp.
If anybody had any advice, I'd love to hear it.

My TS 9mm top end is at CZC to be machined to mount on one of the shadow lowers. I'm looking forward to having my own LS. I'll try it both on Sp 01 and 75 lowers since I am lucky to own both!

SHOT CZC 2017
in CZ
How much are the CZC framed guns? I don't see them on the CZC site?
-
Stuart, is it possible to send CZC just a TS slide which you could mill to fit my shadow frames? I'm sure I could reprofile the barrel peanut myself.

Looks nice and also expensive.

The ECO is certainly a lot cooler than a shield, and a good bit more accurate in my hands.

The ECO looks like a great CCP gun. You are giving up what, 1/4" in barrel length?
More like 3/4", isn't the new spec for ccp barrel length 4.25"?
In any event, I'm not a fan of revolving specs. The ECO is certainly a fine weapon and a wonderful singlestack 9mm" carry piece. But I bought a shield to fill that role; it was a whole lot less expensive than the ECO.
-
Following the last round of spec changes, I bought a dan Wesson ECO for BUG and a 4" 1911 with full size grip for CCP. Neither works anymore. I'm done buying guns for ever changing IDPA divisions.
-
I've got guns that have been done by CZC, CGW and myself. They all are exceptional and pretty much indistinguishable. Each gun has slightly different characteristics but I think that has more to do with stacking tolerances than with differences in the work that was done. But you should learn how to work on your own CZs. Anyone who shoots CZs needs to know how to work on their own guns.

My upper is back from CZC. Wow, I love the longslide. I shot some simulated IDPA qualifier stage 3 strings yesterday and the longslide really helps with the long shots. The boys did a great job on the upper.
