  1. I'm not familiar with SP2. Can someone enlighten me?

    Atlas

That is a hell of a group. Nice looking DIY gun. I might have gone that route if I had any talent but since I don't.........

  2. Well it is here and it is beautiful. I just finished putting it into Open format. I have obviously only gotten to dry fire it but WOW. The trigger is almost as perfect as the one on my CTS.

My CZ stable is almost complete now. Just gotta get a 97 but not in a rush. Gotta knock the new off this one first.

  3. Daniel

Do you remember the amount of 3N37 you started at?

I drove all over town and got lucky. 2nd A didnt have any powder last week and said they didn't know of any coming in. But I went back anyway and they had a few lbs of 296 and two lbs of 3N37. It isn't a powder I was planning on ever testing, but in these times... I know it isn't one of the more popular for CZ short 9 major but saw a few people had tried it and it was far better than not having any powder. Someone posted they used 7.5 gr with 124s but didn't put OAL. Does 7gr sound like a good place to start? Or should I go lower?

If anyone knows of WAC or HS6, please gimme a shout. I'm still looking.

    Thanks all

  4. FedEx shows my Czechmate is going to arrive tomorrow. I have been researching loads for it and have all the components except powder. Does anyone know of a place in or around Tucson that would have Autocomp, HS6, or Shillouette that I could buy, beg, borrow, or barter for?

  5. From a buyers perspective - when I went to CZC a few months ago stock was understandably low due recent events. Only ones in stock were an SAO and an SDP. I was looking for the DA Shadow. I wanted something that would work for USPSA & IDPA. I went with the SDP and had them put a fiber optic sight on the front but leave the rear sight alone. I couldn't be happier with it. I found I prefer the Heine rear sight which has a white dot with tritium at the bottom of the notch to the normal all black rear sights. Now I just put the red dot on top of the white dot and pull the trigger.

  6. only other thing to consider would be to polish the outside of the mags, mine have a habit of dragging a little when i push the mag release, a little jeweler's rouge and a buffing wheel on the dremel used on the areas of the mag that show wear goes a long way, HTH

  7. Since I can't weld would something like JB weld or a super strong epoxy be suitable for connecting the plates to the hinges?

I just finished a plate rack using the same hinges as the OP but I don't know how to weld and don't have access to a welder. Originally I tried the 2 part Gorilla Glue clear epoxy. After they had dried I noticed that I put one hinge on backwards. It really wasn't that hard to break the hinge off the plate. For airsoft, it would have held up for a while but would have failed probably sooner rather than later. So I broke them all apart and reglued them using JB Weld. I couldn't break them if I tried. The metal would bend before the epoxy broke.

So long story short - Yes JB Weld works great in place of welding.

  8. update to the update - i think the suggestion that the tube is out of spec is correct, i had loaded it using the above method and let it sit for a week hoping it would break -in the spring, no such luck, i had the same trouble when i went to reload immediately after emptying it, on top of that once it was loaded again with dummy rounds i went to seat it in the gun to see if all the rounds could be hand cycled through, it was then that i discovered that the side walls of the mag were preventing it from going more than an inch into the grip, aarrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!

  9. i agree, get the Shadow, you won't regret it, i just switched from a Glock to the 75 Shadow and my times have gone down and my accuracy has gone up, for me the heavier weight plus incredible trigger plus better ergonomics (for me anyway) plus the lower bore axis all added up to nothing but good, if you can't find the SP-01 Shadow you might want to consider the 75 Shadow - it is a tad lighter due to the shortened dust cover (some say this is good, others say it's bad - boils down to personal preference) but in exchange you get a gun that you can also shoot in IDPA, you can set up the SP-01 for IDPA but it takes a bit of work to reduce the weight to a legal level and in the process give up a few of the advantages that come with the Shadow (this is according to CZCustom when i bought my 75 Shadow from them), i had the choice between both and don't regret my decision one bit

best of luck finding what you want

  10. update on the mag issue - i had left the mag with the 13 rounds i could get in it for a week to see if would help, took those rounds out and reloaded again could only get 13, out of frustration i slammed the base of the mag onto my reloading bench, when i did that i heard the rounds move a little so i tried to put another round in, it went in very easy but the next one wouldn't go, slammed it again loaded one round super easy wouldn't budge for the next, slammed it again etc etc etc, i did this until all 26 rounds were loaded, i have had mags that the last 1/4 of the rounds or less were hard to load but this is a bit ridiculous for it to be a tight spring, i am guessing something is up with the follower or the tube,

any new suggestions on what i might need to take the dremel to?

  11. something to consider before incurring the cost of getting all new mag carriers - Ace Hardware has magnets of all sizes you can buy, you might want to see if you can find some that will fit into your current carriers, if they cant fit inside you could always use a dremel to make a little room for them or you could take out the insert and replace it with either a regular magnet or the type that is like a flexible tape, a little bit of epoxy would hold them in place to where you wouldnt have to worry about them coming out

    Just an idea.....

  12. Rex - i got the same gun from the same place for IDPA and USPSA, since i got it i haven't even thought of using my Glocks or STI, they didn't have much in stock when i went to the shop so i got the SDP (nicer than the one i was planning to buy), i have no regrets

one thing to keep in mind though if you reload - don't use Remington primers - i did and it made for a miserable IDPA classifier with about 15 fails to fire due to light primer strikes, stick to Federal primers

  13. thanks for the help guys, i checked the tube last night and i couldn't see any issues with welds but then again i don't have another one to compare it to, as far as the tube being out of spec - i think that may be the case, i found out last night that it seats into the gun just fine when empty but when i loaded 13 rds into it (most i could get in it) it no longer would freely seat in the grip, after the mag was about an inch in it began rubbing on both sides bad enough to where i would have had to hit it several times with considerable force for it to go fully into the grip

i guess i will be sending it back to the retailer i bought it from unless yall think it would be better to send it to CZ directly

  14. while a double charge is quite possible, with the facts you have provided i think that there is another possibility that is more probable

i used to over-check charge weights like you do until i ended up with two squibs, set the machine, triple check everything, then leave it alone

i think there is a good chance you checked the charge weight and then forgot to refill the case or put it back in out of sequence causing you to seat a bullet on an empty case, if the squib went into the barrel far enough to let the next round seat in the chamber then the result you experience could easily happen

    just a thought

    take care and good luck

  15. until now i have always had good luck running 9mm in 40cal mags or 40cal in 9mm mags, i just got one of the cz factory 16rd 40cal extended mags with the intent of using it for 9mm, at the time i couldn't find anyone selling the 26rd 9mm mags, (the one with the long rubber sleave covering the bottom 1/3rd of the magazine)

the first issue i had was the feed lips were too wide to hold the 9mm but that was easy to fix using a highly accurate caliper and a hammer, sometimes low tech is best

the second issue i haven't been able to figure out and need some help with, i was only able to get 12 rounds of 9mm in before it wouldn't take any more, i tried 40cal and was only able to get 11 rounds, i disassembled the mag and couldn't find anywhere it was binding, i tried changing springs and put in a 9mm follower but none of it seemed to help

any ideas on what i am overlooking?

  16. i recently had to make the same decision and figured that one gun couldn't do everything i wanted it to so i got the 75 Shadow in 9mm from CZ Custom and a CTS in 40cal i found for sale in the classifieds of this forum, but if i had to only get one and wanted the most options for competition then i would have just gotten the 75 Shadow in 9mm, with it you can compete in IDPA SSP, IDPA ESP, and USPSA Production

    just my .02

  17. I am new to competition shooting as well. I agree with the accuracy before speed tips. My first match was miserable. Hopefully you can learn from my mistake. I decided to shoot one of my .45 1911s. I am not bashing the gun. My thought process was - I like 1911s, am familiar with the platform, it will be easy to count my rounds, and had plenty of .45 on hand. Where I went wrong was I used a relatively new gun. I had shot it a few times before without issue but the round count was still pretty low. Well Mr Murphy decided to tag along that day and I had multiple failures to feed or eject on each stage. Moral of the story is bring a gun that you are comfortable with and know will run. There is nothing more demoralizing than hitting the center of almost every target but taking three times longer on each stage than the slowest guy (other than you) in your group.
