  1. After thinking about it, I can see where this seems like a good idea with an auto, if you're thinking of dropping the mag from the gun into the holster. When you decide to reload, you start toward the spare mag with your off hand while you use the gun butt to sweep the cover garment back on your strong side and carry the butt over the holster and hit the mag release. I don't think it would work in practice, because your'e having to go too far back with the pistol and getting the vest out of the way would be problematic. And IMHO if it did work, I would be willing to bet money that you would end up with a procedural or worse.

  2. This is from a revolver shooter's pespective, but any ESR Tactical reloads I have to make include me stowing the partial moon clip in my holster. It's really quick. When I dump the partial in my hand, I sweep the cover garment back, drop the moon clip in the holster, and this puts my hand right at my new moonclip, which is just forward of the holster. When I do my part, I can usually tac load my ESR gun a little quicker using this method than most bottom feeders can tac load. :P

  3. Well guys, after calling Smith and not being able to talk to a live person and with my concerns about the quality of materials coming out now, I decided to break town and order a Ti cyl. I ordered it from the link provided and should recieve it in a couple of days. Now Hopalong will get to work on yet another of my revos. Thanks for the info guys.

  4. I run the miculek grips, but I either have to wrap the base of my thumb, or I'm usually bleeding by the end of a Match. I tried the Houge finger groove wood grips several years back, and liked them, but found I couldn't get a high enough grip. I was using these when I shot my first IPSC match and, again, I was bleeding when the match was over. I may have to switch back to the rubber monogrip and see what happens.

  5. So, now I get to decide whether to send it back to smith for a new cyl.(hopefully covered under warranty) then have it rechamfered and hope it has 6 round

holes of the proper depth and diameter unlike my 625 JM, all the while hoping I get more than 6000 rounds through it before it's worn out, or spend ~$150.00 on a new Ti cyl, which should out last my stop, but will still have to be chamfered to get ready for competition. Dang!!! Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

  6. Hey guys,

It finally happened. While shooting the TN sectional this weekend with Hopalong, my revolver quit working. The first four stages I shot I thought I was short stroking the trigger, but Sam finally figured out that I had a chamber that was skipping. He was kind enough to loan me an old worn out 25 that I muddled through the rest of the match with, so it wasn't all bad. When we inspected the 625 that evening, we found that one notch has a bad worn shoulder on it. This kind of sucks, seeing as I've only got around 6000 rounds through this gun, and I've already had to have the barrel replaced due to an oversize bore. What I'm wondering now is whether this cylinder can be repaired, or do I need to start looking into a new stainless cylinder, or better yet is it possible to find a Ti cylinder? I know I read on another thread that the Ti cylinders are available, but on the S&W website, it says this is a factory installed part only. Has anyone out here been able to buy a Ti Cyl, and if so, is this my best option?

Any info and response would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, by the way, I did manage to beat Hop on two stages with his own gun.

  7. I don't have any experience with deisels, but I've got an '07 Silverado with the fuel control engine. It's a 4 door 4x4 Z-71. I do love it. Great ride, comfortable and all, but I'm dissappointed with the economy. I'm getting around 14-15 in town and 17-18 on the highway. And by on the highway, I mean over 100 miles at a time. Regular day to day driving, even with 50-60 mile hwy trips won't break 15 mpg.

  8. What really burns me up is the fact that the show was sold out during presale, and when tickets were supposed to go on sale to the public, there weren't any available. Sales were supposed to start at 10:00, by 10:45 there were bids on Ebay for $500.00 for a pair of tickets. If we quit buying from these people, the practice would stop. I don't have a problem with ticket brokers or adding a reasonable service fee, but come on, this is ridiculous. Get a real job, instead of trying to make a quick buck by taking advantage of someone else. As an aside, it appears Ticketmaster is as bad as EBay, because they seem to be auctioning floor tickets to the highest bidder themselves.

  9. My 7 year old daughter wants to see Hannah Montana, but tickets for the Nashville show were sold out before they were supposed to be available to the general public. OK that's fine, we should have joined the fan club and bought the tickets during the presale. But, now what do you know? $35.00 tickets are going for $150.00 and up on Ebay. You know, I always thought scalping was illegal, but apparently not on EBay. We can't sell anything firearm related anymore, but it's OK to jack up event tickets through the roof when you know parents will do just about anything to make their kids happy.

    Alright, rant over.

  10. I am having this same problem on a 625-8 JM. It was purchased new around Christmas. Naturally the first thing I did was work on the trigger, followed immediatly by hand delivering it to Hopalong to Chamfer the cylinder. After I did the trigger job, I test fired it myself and noticed that the moon clip wouldn't seat. I just chalked it up to ammo and gave it to Sam. Fast forward to after he did the chamfer job, he asked me if I noticed a problem with the cylinder. We have determined that three chambers are undersized. According to the warranty Dept. the chamfer job may have voided the warranty, but they did send me a return label the send it back to have it checked out.
