  1. It still sounds like a mag issue to me. My question is did your problems get worse after the mag spring change? Also what pound recoil spring are you using? I can't speak for wolf springs in xd mags I still have the original springs in all six of mine the oldest four years old. Like I said it sounds like a mag issue but I could be wrong lord knows it wouldn't be first time.

  2. Well it was a good match and all the hard work getting it set up was appreciated. You did forget the couple good parts of the day though. With all the new shooters out there we didn't have a single DQ, and didn't have a tree fall over this month. Plus you got to give a couple Shelbyville natives a hard time. Either way it's never a good day when your gun won't run let alone two. I guess you can say at least you spent the day at the range around good people. Plus you made it to 51 and you’re still shooting, and pretty good when the gun was running. Hope the rest of the week goes better for you and you get to get some shooting done this weekend.

  3. Sorry to break the Glock love here, but in my opinion a 1911/2011 well tuned is better suited for the limited and open areas of play. I am a firm believer in the Glock platform it is arguably one of the most reliable brands on the market. Having said that if a new shooter walks up and says "I want to get into limited what gun should I look at." Glock or any plastic gun for that matter will not be at the top of my list (I'm an XD shooter). Now production is a whole other ball game. Seeing anyone leave a gun that they shoot well based off of emotion is a shame. The thing that is really upsetting about this is that shooter will likely talk another young impressionable shooter to leave a platform that they shoot well, and as a new shooter the last thing you need to worry about is second guessing your gear.

  4. We had a couple new shooters which I myself am but these two had zero range etiquette. I had brought my wife out to shoot for her first match and she followed me in shooting order. I finished a stage picked up my mags and went to put them into my range bag, and when I come back she is taping up targets and she is the shooter that is up! There wasn't anyone helping at all with 6 other shooters in our squad I wasn't happy. The thing that really put the icing on the cake was the next stage I finished shooting and she was helping tape up again with the two worst of the group actually helping. She ran out of tape and went to get ready, and as she is walking away they snootily asked "Are you going to help finish taping?" Needless to say I wasn't there for that one but I was a little peeved when I found that out. The thing about most of these people is that they don't usually stick around to long so when they do finally quit, you really appreciate the nice guys and gals that are the majority of the crowd.

  5. Starting this back up again, but this seems to be the best thread for my question. My wife will be shooting a XDM 4.5 in 40 in limited and production. I'll use clays for her minor load but I need to know a from all the loads listed on here which seems to have softest recoil for major. She doesn't mind shooting factory ammo through it so I don't think it will be a big deal but every little bit will help her get comfortable shooting more. So any info for powder, and OAL would be apreciated. Forgot to say will be using a 180Gr TCRN molly bullet so it can be loaded to longer OAL if need be.

  6. The only problem you will see from this is is the striker retaining pin. Saying that it seems to very hit and miss if you are deeply concerned powder river makes a heavier version of the pin 3 for $12. I had the stock in for probably 1000 dry fires before I sent the gun off for a trigger job and Powder River replaced it.

  7. Welcome! There is a lot of shooting around your location.

Thanks and yes there is I am orginally from Shelbyville so every once in awhile I get up to springfield. I have shot up at Lefthanders probably 4-5 times. It really is a great club and a lot of nice guys up that way.

  8. Loves2Shoot is there any chance we will ever see a slide stop lever extended towards the front of the gun for us left handed shooters. Since we use our trigger fingers the typical extended slide stop is not really of any great benifit for us. Not to mention the index finger just doesn't have the strength of the thumb. Thanks for any info.

  9. Just a thought if you really want an xd get a standard xd in 40 in 5". Get a good trigger and sights and your pretty close to same price as xdm but with a better trigger. Plus mags are $22 at brownells (last I checked) this leaves you pretty close to just under $1000 after holster. Having said that a sdb will allow you to shoot more with what you have and money left over for accessories for your current gun.

  10. Hello everyone been shooting pistols for 3-4 years, and just in the last year have really just gotten into competative aspect. Since then I have met alot of great guys and gals and must say I'm having a great time shooting. I herd people talking about this website so I thought I would give it a shot. In the short time I've been on here I have found a wealth of good info and hope to put it all to use.

  11. My wife started with a Sig 1911 carry which probably wasn't the best choice but it's what she wanted. She could shoot it well for awhile but quickly was fatigued so that was traded off. Now she has an XDM in .40 S&W which she seems to like plus I can load it to major power factor if she feels like shooting in USPSA or IPSC. It really comes down to feel but I will say mine really liked the feel and comfort of her 1911 but the .45 ACP recoil was just alot to handle. So like many have suggested let her shoot as many as she can, and she will eventually figure out with actuall trigger time what she likes and what really points well for her.

  12. Can anyone tell me if the Racer is ambi or not. Wife and I both shooting and she is just getting into it so she doesn't go all that often yet, but when she does get into it more it will be hers. Having said that I will be using it for now but I'm a lefty so trying figure out if it will work for a hand-me-down or not. Thanks for the help.

  13. Well its not that complicated it's like a glock shooter switching to a 1911 despite knowing that a 1911 might take a little more tuning to get it to run right. Or on the other end a 1911 shooter switching to a glock hey he might not like the grip angle or the weight but loves the fact that he can pull the trigger and pretty much count on it shooting. There is no such thing as a perfect gun, you find a gun that you can get comfortable with and learn to love. I say shoot it and in time you'll pick up another gun and be saying you don't like the balance of it but love how your STI feels.
