Probably not PC - but why 8 slots for top woman finishers from last years? That seems to be out of proportion to the number of entrants?
It's set in the corporate bylaws I believe which were written back before there were separate divisions and separate nationals for those divisions.

I agree with Kevin! I had a rockin' good time with an outstanding squad. Thank you to all the usual suspects who made the match happen. It was a learning experience for me (if that tells you anything about how my performance went) but it's all good. The stages were fun and challenging and now I know what to expect. Learning something new I've decided is more about allowing things to happen rather than trying or forcing. For now, things are still running thru the pistol filter as my shotgun and rifle experience could fill a thimble. But I'm definitely hooked and am looking forward to more matches. Thank you to my local crew for their support and encouragement as well as those of you who've offered all manner of help. I appreciate it! Shooters are good people!

I just want to say thank you to all the folks who've been helping me get everything together so I can start shooting some 3 gun. I'm humbled by all the help and support everyone has offered.
A giant THANK YOU to Benny Hill for putting together my Benelli for me. I got it Friday and put a few dozen shells through it this morning. It runs like a scalded dog!
Thank you also to Alex Wakal for the AR bolt, comp, and misc. bits.
Thanks to Kurt Miller and Jamie Foote for sharing their knowledge.
Thank you to fellow forum members who either gave me a bit of their old gear or bought some of my old pistol gear so that I could buy the mountain of necessary 3 gun gear.
And last but not least, thanks to Marcus for his patience and innumerable web links (without which I wouldn't have found the smoking deal on my shotgun, scope, and other gear).
First match on the schedule is the Tactical 3 gun match a TacPro on September 11th!

Thanks!!! Lots of good suggestions! Which I happily passed on the mfg since they will be getting the rifle back to work on. Eventually I may be savvy enough to fix this sort of thing on my own....but in the meantime, I'll drive 'em and let the mechanics fuss under the hood - as it were! I'll let you know what they figure out.

Magpul 20 round mags and DSG 30 round mags...but it malfed with my buddie's tried and true mags too...
I'm thinking it's two issues. Wolf is anemic but with the hotter hand loads, if I put stress on the mag (tugged or twisted), the bolt would lock open despite there being rounds left in the mag.

So my new rifle has the hiccups....
It'll feed a few rounds, then not strip the next one and the bolt will close on an empty chamber. New mags so it's not a mag spring issue. I was running 55gr Wolf and when running someone else's hand loads (which were hotter), the malf changed. The bolt would lock back and a tap on the mag would result in it's dropping closed. Although it would cycle 20-25 rounds before coughing with the hotter loads where it would only cycle 2-3 with the Wolf.
Undergassed? Out of spec magwell or mag catch? Both?

So an outsourcing deal has been cut with a company in Taipei and the spouse in his role as Senior Engineer will be shipped out to make them fly right and straight for a couple of weeks. We, the family unit, don't want to pass up this opportunity to see this part of the world.
Do you have any suggestions on discount airfare, accommodations, or what to see? Then post 'em here!

I am not going to comment any more or get into a fight on this forum over things that happened or preceved to have happened. I have over 600 emails, and more than 250 hours into this match this year, not to mention that I have been gone from home since the 15th, and won't be home untill tommorrow night.
It has been common practice for proxys to be used at the prize table since I have been shooting. This is over 20 years. I will not apoligize for a $35000 prize table donated by about 20 different companies. Including a $3000 custom built 40 cal wide bode STI.

I'd expect to see you volunteering to help some how with the match next year. I think you'd benefit from the perspective change. Some things could have been done better certainly but outright bitterness isn't constructive.

This was a hat trick for me; a stage win, a class win, and a high lady win. This match is one that I'll always remember.

A big thank you to Tom, Wayne, Joy and David Hyden, Al, Lee, Ken, and all the match staff for their work. Thanks Mr. Skinner for the frame! Definitely feeling the love with STI's sponsorship of the match! If I missed anyone, please know that I appreciate your efforts. The people in IPSC are a class above! Thank you to my squad mates - you all are the best! I'm grateful for your friendship. Thank you Kay for the hospitality today at lunch. And Athena, I gotta tell you, diet coke ain't paleo! <wicked grin> I was happy to catch up with Ms. Munson as well. Your support through the years has meant a lot. This was a fab weekend; shooting, friends, food and fun. God, I love this game!

Well we Have Narrowed Down the New Dates for the Double Tap Champ 2011 to Either April 1, 2, 3, or June 3, 4, 5, 2011
April dates puts us 2 weeks ahead of area 6 and space city
June dates put us a week ahead of area 5,
2 weeks ahead of the Desert Classic and
3 weeks ahead of Area 1 ( if they stay on the same dates as this year.)
May Dates Mississippi Classic (5-14) and Area 4 (5-20) But the Wettest Month of the Year.
You got Any preferences on which Dates? other suggestions?
I say go with June. Two weeks later in April reduces the chance of freeze but rain is still a threat. June will be most likely dry albeit it can be hot. But given the choice, I'd say heat is easier to deal with from a match perspective than mud.
I would also suggest you talk to Phil Strader and ask when he plans to run the A4 match. I'm assuming he'll be Area director since he's running unopposed.

So I posted this question under the "mother of all timer" threads...but I think that thread may be on the ignore list rather than being "pinned."
Are there any timers that allow you to extract your practice shot data? Do any of them have a usb connection? I know that with a MK IV you can get your chrono data...Is there a hack to get the timer data?

Okay, I've read all the online docs for Competition Electronics, Pact, and CED....I didn't find where data from the timer could be downloaded via USB. I see it's possible on one of the chronos. Is this not a feature on any of the current timers? And why the heck not? Or did I just not see it on the product web page?

Dave makes a good point. The person that wins the match (the class, the category, or whatever) isn't the person who did the best. It's the person who screwed up the least. I don't think anyone is capable of the perfect match let alone the perfect stage (although some may come close). Manage expectations allowing yourself to do the best that you can on every stage and if it goes south, leave the bad stage behind. Otherwise your mind is drifting like a ghost ship between the past and the future, never moored in the present moment.

Taste whenever you drink.
This reminds me of that scene from "My dinner with Andre" - a movie that you either love or hate - where the characters discuss fully experiencing a meal. Spicy tuna rolls for me can be a religious experience!

I was discussing why I shoot with someone on the drive home from practice last weekend. During my first years, I put A LOT of rounds down range. Then one day it happened. The buzzer went off and I had this hyper-focus, similar to what one experiences in a car crash where everything goes into slow motion. I saw the sight picture, watched the slide recoil. The sun was behind me and I actually could see each round travel, saw the holes appear. I was low B class at the time and on that stage I made an M class score. It felt like I had all the time in the world. That feeling, that type of experience is addicting! I've been chasing that experience ever since in every activity I do. My coach called it "turning it loose." The bonus with shooting is that while you're striving to lose yourself, you invariably fix your character flaws if you have any self awareness at all. It's a brutally honest sport and if you can't see your weaknesses to fix them, you succumb to them.

I'm impressed if you went thru the bylaws. Apologies that I had that wrong. I got my answer from someone associated with headquarters whom I thought would have been correct. However, I have to throw in with the camp that favors juniors and ladies. Not because it makes it easier to attend but because it has the opportunity to broaden the sport and increase it's longevity. How many of you guys would like to get your ladies/kids involved in the sport? Just think about how much the toy budget would increase! Besides 8 slots for the ladies out of the potential 200 slots available is leaving a lot of room (like 96%) for others.
