Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Little update: This machine is crazy. I did modify the plate spring so my case doesn't snap in place and spill powder. Thanks Tips and Tricks! My maiden voyage went well. Currenlty I'm set up to make .45ACP rounds. I kicked out a 100 rounds in short order and I was going very slow. The following weekend I sat down and got serious...for about 2 hours and kicked out a good quantity of rounds. What a great machine! I'm not having any problems or tweaking it beyond the spring. Oh, I already knew this but case lube really smoothes out the process.
  2. Not exactly sure if this is the right spot for this post but I'm doing it anyway. After saving my pennies and letting the family know that I would appreciate gift certificates from Brian's store, I was able to order an XL650 with casefeeder. So between my B-day and Christmas I got close enough to pull the trigger. Joni was very helpful getting my gift certs re-issued into 1 code. Thanks, if you're reading this. Anway, the press arrived yesterday. Once the 3 year old was down for the night, I began assembly. So far my only mistake was drilling the strong mount too far back on my table. Once the casefeeder went on, it was bumping the wall. Easy fix. For me, it's a big step up from my old Lee classic 4 hole turret.
  3. Hello and welcome. I just joined the other day myself.
  4. Thanks for the input guys. Been a long time since I've traveled your way, redwoods. I started skiing Vail when I was 3.
  5. Hello everyone. I'm from Denver, Colorado. I grew up ranching in the mountains. I love hunting, I'm a flyfisherman and love plinking. Been reloading on a Lee Classic 4 hole turret for roughly 3 years now. Since I was completely new to reloading, it's been a nice machine to learn on. I'm at the point where I'm ready to upgrade and start cranking more rounds in less time. I'm primarily loading .45auto. I shoot several others but not in the volumn where I'd need to concentrate on reloading large quantities right now. Currently I'm working through the 550 vs 650 threads. Wish me luck there. I'm thinking 650 but Brian makes a strong case for the 550. The price difference isn't an issue. I'd love to put out 1k-2k before changing to another caliber. While not a progressive press, I'm used to the Lee turret indexing me to the next stage. I know if I can auto-index with a casefeeder then I achieve my goals. I'm also not afraid of complexity. Other than that, I'm not much of a poster. See you in the threads.
