  1. Rather than posting a new topic everytime I figure I'll just link to my new videos here.

My motivation for even filming in the first place is self analysis. Having a GoPro on your head, making sure its actually recording, is just one more thing to worry about...Perception of speed is very different in your head (at least mine). I'd like to get a 2 angle setup like https://www.youtube.com/user/mustanggreg66

Been gearing up for 3-gun, buying a bunch of shit, having never shot an actual 3gun match before..I know not the best idea ever.

But today I did a shotgun/pistol match, and had so much fun! Dealt with learning a couple new rules and ammo issues on stage one. Still pulled a decent placing.

My last USPSA match a couple weeks ago marked the end of having jitters/being nervous. I can now have fun and concentrate on being competitive!

  2. I don't think a hat cam is the most useful training aid, it does not show all the places people lose time, like reloading, transition and the like. You are better off to have a squad mate film you or put a camera on a tripod.

I agree. The holy grail is using both though. This guy does a good job of blending them together. http://www.youtube.com/user/mustanggreg66

I run a GoPro right now but want to add in the extra angle

Its a bit more cumbersome than the contour, but shooting is not all I use it for. I also prefer the top down view VS the off to the side view that most contour users have.

  3. Iron Sight Article

I am in step my esteemed colleague Mr. Neal (kellyn), you ought to know several zeros and apply them accordingly.

Thanks for the link, I have seen it before, glanced over it, but never throughout read it before

" Instead of trying to hold well below the close-range targets with a zero that would improve my ability to hit the 400- and 500-yard targets, I broke the target array down into near and far and clicked between them, all while on the clock. It worked well enough that I was able to pick up my third win."

    ^ This is too cool

"lift your head to raise your eye enough so you can see the front sight over the top of the rear."

Gunna give that a shot when after I get this thing zeroed in! Thanks

  4. Thanks for the video post, that is what I wanted to see. Mossberg 930 Pat Flanigan here I come and while that is on order a quick trip to Home Depot!

Booyah! Haven't shot it yet, planning to do so tomorrow. I'll let you know if I run into any trouble. Are all Flanigan guns that blue color? Time for me to decide what color my classic 930 shall be :)

UPDATE: Clamp and porting cover worked fine. Bulged out a bit, but it was uniform, doesnt look bad.

  5. Hey yall,

Got my +8 NC tube in for the 930. 12+1 total Been practicing my reloads from the caddy with 8 in the tube so I have quite a bit more resistance than I'm used to! Do you practice with a loaded tube or an empty one? I figure as long as I am practicing the right technique, this will help me out in the long run.

Question...should I ditch the Ghost ring rear?

    Her name is Maylene :devil:8081316742_39d60e2fbd.jpg

  6. Nice shooting! Only thing I can think of is maybe try to break the shot off earlier on the swingers so you can get your two hits when it slows down and reverses its swing, instead of tracking it back up. Hell, id probably do the same thing though, how often can you get practice on swingers?

  7. For anyone who was interested in the sheet metal & clamp fix for porting...

I did it today with some aluminum flashing. Cut to size to slide between the vent ribs and it's easy to bend and after sanding it down, it takes paint nicely. I used heat resistant stuff for BBQ grills. It blends beautifully with the barrel once clamped on.

Starts off with a NC tube install, the porting mod is at 1:45

  8. I have seen my fare share of shooters take serious falls or tumbles during stage runs AND maintain awesome muzzle control through the whole ordeal while keeping the gun pointed straight down range and their finger off the trigger. Compare that to a public range, muzzle awareness??? What is that???

    Athleticism a plenty!
