I'll try not to! It'll depend on how the new barrels are.
I talked to a buddy back east about dot sights. He's very hard on his equipment. Says the OKO sight doesn't really hold up. He's convinced me to spend the extra $50 on a CMore.
Billy also convinced me to go with an 8MOA dot. Bigger makes it easier to pick up on the targets.
It's only money, right?

There are a bunch of sale on e-bay. But I don't know what will work well and what won't. I'm going to just get an OKO and not worry about it.
Will I see you at the Steel match in October? I hope to have my revolvers back by then!

For me it was trial and error. Though watching the direction my trigger finger moves during the trigger squeeze on a 1911 frame should have given me a clue. I have small, broad hands, with short fingers. On a 1911 platform, my trigger finger tends to have a slight downward movement as it comes back. That's why the first trigger I tried ended up with me pulling shots low. And the normal length flat trigger caused me to push shots to the left.
The short flat one works best for me. I like it smooth right now to permit my finger to slide a little. I can shoot faster doubles now that are more accurate than I could before.
I didn't notice what was happening until shooting on the clock at a steel match. Slow fire at dots for group doesn't show the same problems for me. Maybe cause I am so much more focused on a smooth trigger squeeze and maintaining sight alignment.
Course, I still have a TON of practice to do and a LOT to learn!

I installed one of those SVI Infinity triggers on my Springfield. You know, the ones with the interchangeable trigger shoe's?
Disclaimer: on slow aimed shots none of this mattered. It was when I picked up the pace on steel that I noticed it.
Anyway, I bought a couple different shoe's for my gun. Started with one that curved out on the bottom, but found that I was pulling shots low. Went to a flat normal length one, but couldn't get my finger on the trigger well and ended up pushing shots to the left (but not low anymore). So I put in the short flat one. Perfect! I don't pull the gun off target with trigger squeeze any more.
I never realized how important the shape of the trigger shoe was.
Just throwing this out there for general interest.

Geeze Eric, where do folks like that come from!??? I've often complained about the attitude of Cowboy shooters, to them! They don't understand. And that's what I normally shoot
And hunter...don't even get me started!
Fortunatly, the club I belong to has a range officer posted and I normally just go back to the Action Pistol range where I don't have to deal with that.
But there are days....

Stick to the PT and if you can, do extra! I busted up a foot pretty bad about 12 years ago. I still don't have about 30% of the mobility. And getting that much back was a tough slog. Keep at it. You'll be glad later.

Very sorry to hear. We've 2 cats and a puppy now. We lost our Mastiff in April to bone cancer. That was real tough.

Ok, ya'll sold me on the OKO. What size dot do you like? The STI web site offers them in 4, 6, and 8 MOA. I'm leaning toward 6.

Thanks for the suggestions folks! I'll look for one that's of the CMore style for weight. I hadn't really considered that.
Will the OKO mount on a weaver type rail? That's what's gonna be installed on the gun. If not, where can I get a rail for it for a Ruger 22/45?

I'm fixin to get a 22/45 for Steel. Planning to send it to Clark for one of their conversion packages. It'll come back with a sight rail.
What's a good sight to put on it that won't cost an arm and a leg?
This will be my first dot sighted gun.

I've a Cominolli in my Springfield with no problems at all. Works great.
No experience with any of the others mentioned, so I can't compare them.

As long as you didn't fire another bullet into the one that was stuck, there shouldn't be any damage to your barrel.

I'm gonna be playing with that. I've been away from shooting a 1911 for quite a while and need to refamiliarize myself with it. I might go back to a normal size one after a while.
I've about 5000 rounds through it since that went in and never had the slide lock open on me.

I've heard back from USPSA (John Amidon) as regards this issue. The slide stop that is currently on my gun is just fine. The one that the rule intends to forbid is the 2nd one in my post above.
Guess that resolves it.

In addition, for those of us in CA, they still have a mag limit law on the books. It doesn't sunset with the AWB.

There's the rule. What exactly is referred to as an "extended slide stop?"
Is the one on my blaster ok? It certainly doesn't help me to control recoil, but is there instead to make it easer to reach. I have small hands. The one on my blaster looks like:
It's not very large. I don't think it's any wider than the original stock one on the Springfield. Just a little longer.
To me it sounds like the goal is to outlaw these:
If not, I'll have to go see if I can dredge up my old stock one.

Thanks Eric. I did the trigger job myself, and I love it! About a 1 1/2 pound pull with just a touch of smoooooooooth movement before break. My first foray into 1911 gunsmithing. It works just fine so far, but I only have a few hundred rounds (and about 1000 DF snaps) through it. We'll see how it goes at this weekends Steel match.
BTW, I love that grip!

Here's mine.
Got a extra long slide lock, big fat ambi safety, nice big mag release button, bomar in back, EGW FO up front, tungsten guide rod, STI trigger, C&S hammer/sear/disconnect, STI TI sear spring, S&A mag well, high ride beavertail of some sort, and brand new grips (thanks Eric)! 45 ACP. Started life as the basic Springfield 1911-A1.
I really like it, but I am now having the urge to get a Limited or Open gun. Haven't decided.

I have a 012 right now. Only it doesn't quite suit my draw. I tend to come from the inside (close to my body) to the outside with my hand motion. It's just the way that I'm put together. The 012 doesn't have that type of adjustment and so once in a while it doesn't release smoothly.
So, what holsters have that type of adjustment and how do they work?
