  1. I just got mine today. This is one good looking shotgun. But the packaging is horrible. A cardboard box for a $1200+ shotgun are you kidding me. Remington needs to step up there game in that department. Nice selection of chokes and stock fitment parts though.

I gotta figure out how to make a good limiter for the magazine tube as I will probable use this one for Turkey season as well.

What do you normally do with the box your gun comes in? Would have have preferred a different sheen on the box?

  2. The lifter on the competition model hasnt been extended. It just has the fork filled in and a small indention to help guide shell to chamber. It causes shells to bind up when loading and it still pinches the hell out of your thumb. Simple fix. Replace with an actual extended lifter.

It doesn't pinch my thumb, but the original one did. YM(apparently)MV.

  3. Cancel? Well, we shot the last pistol match at the Rock after it had snowed 5" the night before/morning of last month. Only real inconvenience was the overturned tractor trailer at the end of the on ramp to 65S.

Bad weather might impact the number of paper targets we use, but would have to be pretty bad to cancel.

Btw, we plan on having a SG stage with about 24 rds. If you need extra caddies I will bring a couple 6 rounders to share.

    ugh...

  4. From memory,

Fit like most others- fingers to 1/3 maybe 1/2 of dovetail, then a sight tool for the rest.

    No daylight around the sight.

    hope that helps

I used a file to make mine fit like this ^ then used the provided punch to help it the rest of the way.

  5. They are about as dangerous as a Serpa holster. Practice with it, keep your finger straight, and you'll be fine. I see the bolt failing to lock back as a non-issue. If I shoot my rifle dry, shame on me. I find it to be a very handy component.

  6. The point is why do it? The benefit just is not there. How much has George Digweed won shooting full/full? Look at station 8 in skeet. It dosen't get a whole lot closer than that shot. How many good shooters are shooting threads on that one? none. Spray and pray is not the recipe for success. What it will do is leave plastic all in the threads. Ever seen ported choke tubes. An yes I have seen barrel threads messed up by shooting the threads. It was a briley 20 ga tube. It had to be send back to briley to allow a choke tube to go back in it

Skeet is a completely different animal. You know exactly where station 8 is going, and chances are, you've shot it a time or two before. While I don't do it, I've seen people shoot with no choke (braless is the term they used, I believe). For the occasional target, I don't see why not.

  7. I agree with many here. The gun will serve you fine as would 1 oz loads. You'll only be challenged beyond that of an auto on 4 targets. A lot of skeet is where you stage your gun and eyes before you call for the bird. You want to position your barrel toward where you think you won't get behind the bird as it comes out of the house (this will come with experience). Then, you want to look away from the rib (another tricky part), and look for the bird out of the house. By the time the bird and your eyes get to the rib, your gun should be moving.

    Good luck!
