  1. Well all I have is a 4.5lbs trigger pull on it now. I don't know if that is considered a real light or not. Thanks for the clarification.
  2. I never trained with John, but I heard alot about him though. Pete is really cool, laid back, and a good instructor. I don't know if you know but Pete is running "The Hollow Training" in Mt. Carrol IL. I am going to his zombie shoot in October 20th. If you see a big guy with the blue 2012 Mustang that will be me. I hope to meet you someday.
  3. UPDATE!!! I got my trigger today and it was pretty much drop in, just had to sand the top and bottom a little bit it get it to fit. Works great no vertical play at all. Thanks for the input fellas.
  4. Hey guy I was wondering if anybody uses this trigger and how they like it. I ordered one from brownells and will fit it to my SW1911. Good or bad I want to hear it.
  5. Hey guys thanks for your answers. I'll stick with what I got trigger pull wise. I was just wondering what everyone else was running. Thanks
  6. Hey guys I'm starting out getting ready to do IDPA. I plan on going in the CDP division. What is considered a good trigger pull weight for this type of shooting. Right now I have a SW1911 with a C&S tactical kit which is about a 4.5 lbs pull. I'm just curious to what you guys are running with in you handguns. Thanks
  7. UPDATE!!! Went to the range today and got my bad boy zeroed in today. Just off 1 inch left at 28 yards. I can live with that. Most of the stuff I plan on doing is action type stuff anyways. Thanks guys for the help.
  8. Oh man lots of places to choose to go. Thanks Mike I will pm in the near future.
  9. If I'm ever down there I will definitely check that out. Thanks
  10. Hey guys I have a SW1911 and I bought a 10-8 sight set, that I'm going to install. What is a good method to zero them in? My local indoor range goes to 28 yards. There are methods I hear of "If your shot group is shooting left move the rear sight right" or the "chase the bullet with the front sight post" I'm confused. Then I hear of using some mathmactical formula with the sight radius' and in the end you have to move the sight .012 right. How do I determine if I moved it that much? What do I move first the front or rear? Hope you guys understand this post and what I'm trying to get at. Thanks
  11. Being too picky, that is perfectly acceptable. (I bet most brass and bullets have tolerances outside of that variation) Thanks you for the reply
  12. My question to you would be how important is a crimp on a handgun round? I noticed the factory stuff .45acp is crimped .4710 consistent. When I crimp it I get a .0002 or .0003 deviation. So Im reading .4712 to .4713 am I being too picky or is that acceptable.
  13. To e-mishka Thanks for the link. I noticed the zombie shoot at Mt. Carrol Oct 20, I signed up for that. Thats where I took most of my shooting classes at. When it used to be Impact and Eric Davis was running the show. I took both the Speed Shooting classes with Pete Milionis. He's the one that told me I need to do this competition stuff. I will probably join the McHenry IDPA Club and/or McHenry IPSC (MISS.) Pinetree is out of the way for me plus they want alot of time and money to join thier club. Check out my youtube page and feel free to pm me some videos or whatever. Thanks
  14. To answer the two replies I'm located in the Northern IL area Chicago, Elgin, Rockford area. Also my answer to Jgus I think I will start off with IDPA CDP and/or USPSA single stack. Have a SW1911 that I modified and shot alot of it, and I have the most trigger time with a 1911 over the years. Do own MP's, Berettas, and AR type rifles but I feel the most proficient with a 1911 for competition wise. I am Aiming more towards a basic type 1911 where I don't need speed holsters or red dot sights. Hopes this answers some of your questions.
  15. Don't buy them for competition. I tried it myself at the gun classes I took. You can't call your shots out will them cause the roundness especially at a distance. You want a square type of front post. I learned this lesson the hard way. Right now I'm changing them to the 10-8 set.
  16. Hey guys, I'm MrMuscleBilly real name is Bill. I have a youtube page (same name as username) where I show all kinds of different self defense gun vids and a fellow youtuber Johniac7078 turned me on to this fourm. I have been shooting seriously for 5 years and went to a couple of gun classes to better my shooting skills. Everyone tells me I should do competitions but I never pursued it cause of work, school, or whatever just making excuses. I feel like now is the time I should do this for real. Hopfully you guys will welcome me and we can have fun, learn and help each other out. Thanks you and have a good day.
