  1. Well here they are with mag extensions and tritium sights (kind of hard to see the sights). The one has a Speedfeed IV stock. I plan on picking up another speedfeed stock for the other gun. I have Wilson safeties on the way and I'm going to try out a laser devices mount for a flashlight. I also plan on cutting the other barrel back to 18".
  2. It ends up being a cylinder bore. I plan to have both barrels threaded for chokes. I still trying to decide if I want someone else to do it or if I should order the tools. On a side note. I just got done drilling out the gas ports on both 1100's. Both are running 100% with cheapo wal-mart 8shot 100 pack.
  3. I went into the shop that I work weekends at and found a couple guns I couldnt go home without. There were 2 Remington Model 1100's both marked $149. I picked them both up and plan to make a couple home defense/self defense guns out of them. I've cut them both down to 19.5". I have 1 Speedfeed IV-S on the way. I figure I'll give the one a try and make sure I like it. I also ordered marble tritium front sights, wilson combat 2 round extensions, and laser devices flashlight mounts.
  4. Just wanted to thank you folks for all the info and suggestions. I got my 1100 running 100% by drilling out the gas ports a bit. I drilled them out to .0937 and its working great with the Federal Wal-Mart #8 shot. I plan on drilling them out to .109 tomorrow just to be safe.
  5. I may have to make a trip to Sears to get some bits. Any suggestions on the type to buy?
  6. George, thanks for the reply. I was hoping someone else would be on tonight I think the shells have plenty of velocity coming out of the magazine. When I rack the bolt by hand quickly I can see a shell fly out of the magazine and it looks like it bounces off the release tab. I took care of the rust problem the other day and the mag tube is looking good. I'm going to try the gas port suggestion. I just hope my drill bit set has some bits that I can use.
  7. The thought just occured to me that maybe this is a gas port issue. If there wasnt enough gas going through the system the bolt would come back slower than needed and may not be in the correct position when the shells pops out of the magazine. I did try the double o-ring thing and the bolt wouldnt eject shells most of the time. Seemed to make the problem worse. I think I may try drilling out the gas ports.
  8. Looking forward to hearing about the O-Rings. I tried replacing the o-ring in my rifle today and also tried running double o-rings with no luck. I still have the action locking back occasionaly with a shell on the carrier. I did notice that it usually happens on about the 2nd or 3rd shot of my 6rnd magazine. I may cut the spring down like someone else suggested.
  9. I'll have to do some looking around for the o-rings you guys are talking about. On a side note, I tried the two o-ring thing this morning and had nothing but problems. Couldnt get the gun to cycle at all.
  10. I do not have a easyloader on the gun at this time. I tried some Winchester AA Heavy Target loads in the gun today and ran into a new problem. I still have the lockback with shell on carrier problem and now a new one. Now on occasion a shell will get stuck sticking partially out of the magazine tube. I have to push up on the carrier and then cycle the action to get the shell to come out completely and then put it back into the magazine. Before I took the gun out today I sprayed the trigger group with gun scrubber and cleaned it up with a brush. I then lubed it with break free really well. I also cleaned out the magazine tube which did have some rust. Tomorrow I'll try an extra o-ring and see what happens.
  11. Your gun locked back with a shell on the carrier because of a bad o-ring? I may give that a try but it just doesnt make to much sense to me. Not saying that it didnt happen or doubt that you fixed it.
  12. I have a used 1100 that I picked up from a local shop for dirt cheap. I had the barrel chopped to somewhere around 20"-21". I'm having a bit of trouble getting the gun to cycle completely. The gun cycles fine most of the time but on occasion the bolt will lock back when there is a shell sitting in the action waiting to be chambered. My first thought was that maybe the magazine spring was to light and wasnt releasing shells with enough force. I installed a Wilson Combat mag extension with Wolf extra power spring and the problem still exists. Please also note that I am using cheapy federal #6 loads from Wal-Mart that run around $2.xx a box. I'm wondering if there is something else wrong with the gun or if I just need to use a cartridge that has more shot and is physicly heavier so it hits the release tab in the action with more enertia (SP). I'm going to try some buckshot in the gun tomorrow morning to see what the result is. I'll also try some Winchester Super X or other high quality field loads and see what happens. If you have any other ideas I would like to hear them. Thanks
