  1. I have been shooting Limited for the past year with my Para P18-9. Since this gun will not allow me to shoot major I am placing down in the standings. I have not been classified yet but I would call myself a C class shooter. Points down is killing me. So I am considering making the move to open. I have purchased a c-more serendipity reflex sight ( eyesight is not what it was)and will be adding a comp to my gun. I hope that these changes give me more of a chance to place higher in the standings. The questions I have is what bullet weight and powder would work to make the Major power factor? I am currently shooting 124 grain Magnus SWC lead bullets over tightgroup. This has worked well for minor but I will have to change everything to make major. I understand that I will need to move to jacketed bullets and looking at Berry's 124 grain as I have a couple thousand of them sitting around. Also what are the thoughts on the C-More I have bought. I'm still new at this after moving from IDPA, way too many rules. Thanks for any help and comments.
  2. I have bought a few of these in the past year as project guns. The first a 9mm government model that I learned to cut my teeth on as far as checkering and trigger work. This same gun we bought a barrel from RI in .38 Super and it was a totally drop in operation. This gun has found a new home with a shooter using it in single stack. I think for the money they are best bang for the buck in basic 1911s today. Of course this and a buck and a half will buy you a cup of coffee.
  3. Thanks Jim I happen to live in Columbia and have been a member of Green Valley for the last five years. I just shot a match yesterday there and had a great day. Only one hit on a no shoot and no mikes. Gun ran liked a sewing machine. Very happy now to buy some good mag carriers and such.
  4. I started off shooting production with a Glock 17 and moved to Kimber in single stack. Back to Glock then to a custom built 1911 in .38 super. Now this year I am moving to Limited with a Para P18-9. I hope this will the one I settle with. Equipment for different type of guns is starting to hurt the bank.
  5. I am working on moving up from single stack to limited this year in matches. Recently bought a tuned Para P18-9 and will be leaving my single stack at on match days. I have been shooting IDPA and USPSA on and off for the last three years and have decided to become serious about USPSA. I have been instructing Conceal Carry classes here for the last four years and was a firearms instructor for the Sheriff's department for last five years. I retired from the department on December 31st and began working for another county office. Trying to build my experience and hope to better myself every match. Now to work on equipment and mags for the Para.
