  1. I'm in the same boat except I have 8lbs. I'm loading at 1.18 oal and there is no data for that oal.

I'm assuming you haven't had a chance to load and chrono it? I've found several load recipes via Google search but you never know on those. I have some load date in my Lee book but for jacketed bullets. I don't recall if you're supposed to use less or more powder for moly-coated lead bullets, if any change at all...

  2. I was able to pick up a pound of IMR SR 7625 today and have the ability to buy a few more pounds. Before doing so I wanted to check and see how this powder is in the .40S&W using 180gr moly coated lead bullets.

Do any of you have experience with this powder and bullet combo? I need to hit major power factor for USPSA. Any input is greatly appreciated.

  3. I bought the basepads from Speed Shooters and also bought the springs from them. I beleive they were ISMI springs and they did not have the bends in them to hook into the follower. After I sent the basepads into TT and they returned them to me I noticed the springs had bends in them and were hooked into the follower. I'm wondering if TT switched out the power springs I ordered and replaced them with different ones or if the bent the ones I sent in. I don't know...I just ordered a brush so for the next match I will clean the mags everytime they hit the ground and see if that fixes the problem.

  4. Starting to get into USPSA shooting more seriously. I have an M&P 40 and recently purchased the Taran Tactical extended base pads along with the power springs. First time out with them my gun starting mis-feeding, which it has never has done with the factory mags. I sent the magazines along with the base pads and springs to Taran Tactical and they said they'd get them working. Got the magazines back and was able to shoot them today for the first time. Still had feeding issues. Is anyone else running these on their M&P 40 and are they working for you? Someone at the match mentioned it may be from having dirty mags. Is this a matter of not having a clean magazine? They only started mis-feeding later in the match after having dropped the mags for reloads a few times, although, I've never cleaned the factory mags mid-match. For what these cost I'd expect better performance but I want to rule out any error on my part before going back to Taran Tactical.

  5. New to the forum and fairly new to shooting competitively. I mostly shoot steel challenge with an M&P .40. Over the last several weeks I managed to bring my overall times from 100+ seconds down to 83 seconds total time for 4 stages in steel challenge. I slowed down and really took time to aim, which is what I thought attributed to my time decrease. Then last week I was back up to over 100 seconds.

One thing I think I forgot is how I was gripping the gun. I'm a left handed shooter. How much pressure do you put on each hand to hold the gun steady? A very tight grip, loose grip, equal pressure with right and left hand, more pressure with one hand over the other etc...? Or does this depend on the individual shooter?
