  1. I'm using Lee (pistol and rifle) dies on my 550 though I'm not sizing rifle on it, just loading. I set the dies up per the Dillon manual and verified with a case gauge and my pistol barrel. I had dumped the lee rings and replaced them with Hornady lock rings for use on my RockChucker but switched to Dillon rings with the 550. Easier to work with, more room on tool head, and the wrench is on the press. I don't anticipate much adjusting though unless i change my load as I have dedicated tool heads for each caliber.
  2. I picked up a Dillon cover yesterday from Grafs for my 550B. Overall I'm happy with it and think it will get the job done (mostly). I especially like the fact that it is designed to enclose the ram and linkage. It looks really nice too! The one downside is it doesn't cover the accessories I have installed. This includes the bullet tray, loaded cartridge bin, and cartridge case bin. I also have the tool holder mounted to the back of my press, and while it is snug, it did fit around it. My reloading room doubles as a wood working shop, dog kennel, and general fix it shop, so it can be dusty at times. Looks like I'll be employing the trash bag cover when the wood chips fly or I'll have to keep the bullet tray empty and store the bins as well. Brian
  3. I did the exact same thing to the letter when I got my 550B. On the bright side, I learned alot about the macine trying to troubleshoot why the primers weren't feeding reliably. RTFM. Brian
  4. I got the Strong Mount with my 550B and it included all the hardware I needed to mount it. All I had to do was drill the holes (edit - in the bench). The hardware came with the mount, not the press though, so if you don't get the mount I think you will need to provide your own hardware to mount it. Brian
  5. I was reloading on a RCBS RockChucker prior to getting my 550B. Below is a list of everything that was on my invoice. The only thing I haven't used (yet) is the spare parts kit. Based on my experience the toolholder is a nice to have option. Everything else is required. I reused the existing dies that I was already using. 6. My awesome wife recently surprised me with a 550B setup and tricked out to load 9mm. Needless to say they are both keepers. Anyway, I need to get a cover for it and was wondering if the Dillon cover was a good choice. Does it cover the press well with the bullet tray, powder measure, roller handle, and two ammo bins installed? Any better options short of making something? Thanks, Brian
