  1. Ok, I think this discussion needs some direction. For instance "What is the reason for wanting to change?". If it is to eliminate the Mover because some clubs don't have the equipment. Then change the guide lines to allow Regional Matches to shoot a different event in lieu of the mover or give two possible substitutes. If the reason is, for the sake of a change. There would be two way to look at it. One is the Mover is just fun to shoot and should stay for the fun factor. Another rational would be take out the event with the most 480's shot during the Cup. Adding the combat event would add more accuracy to the Cup. The Ambi plates would lower scores. The Ambi-plates would add a new level of skill to the Cup. I mean you just can not slack of in doing some real practice to become proficient at it. The Speed Load Challenge would add some additional speed and excitement. I just would want any change made for the right reason. And the proper event added to make the match more challenging. hooting two guns would add a big appeal to the event. Dirty Steve,Out
  2. Ok I read the thread discussing taking out the Mover. I like the event and woukd like it to stay. This being said if it were to go I think the Combat Event should replace it. Dirty Steve, Out
  3. I know I'm chiming in late but if I were to change anything I would say Crawford Barricade and Ambi Plates would make things interesting. However if a change were to be made for say 2010 I would announce it Jan 2009. Giving a full year for folks to prepare. Unlike some past years rule changes being made in Jan. and folks scrabling to get thier guns changed up and functioning. Changes need to be annouced to give competitors plenty of time to prepare. Dirty Steve, out.. Kevin if you read this sorry I missed you in Texas. I was hurt bad early in the year and just could not get in any practice in the whole year.
  4. Well I got mine on the 11th. Wow did I suck. Guess thats why there is a next time. I went 3rd Metallic SS, but was aiming for a higher score. Much Higher. Dirty Steve, Out
  5. Allan, Thanks but I need the booklet. They are supposed to be mailed out 30 days after the match according to the guidlines they put out. But we wont go there.. Steve
  6. Has anyone recieved the Bianchi Cup results in the mail yet? Just wondering. I am going to try to get some money reembursed from my PD and need the official results to do it. Dirty Steve, Out.
  7. Kevin, Whoo Hoo, I was right. I like the idea but then I told you that at the Cup.. Dirty Steve, Out.
  8. When I stated I would like to see black lines, I ment thin ones I could plainly see when they pull the targets then show them to you prior to bagging them. Not big thick things visible at 15 yards in bad light. The center aiming dot is a good thing. Why you ask? Well, I'll tell you. Because a shooting competition is supposed to be to find out who the best shot is not which good shooter drew the best shooting times. And I still say metallic shooters should be allowed to follow the same prescribed shooting positions as the open guys. I would not do it because I am fat, old and slow. But they should not be handycapped because they decide to shoot Metallic. Dirty Steve, Out.
  9. The aiming point (Black Circle) may have came from Action Pistolero. I am sure he will reply if it was him. But it came up durning the Cup when trying to shoot the mover in the morning hours the competitors are at a disadvantage. Those shooting afternoon will be able to see the X ring. It just kind of evens things out when lighting becomes a factor. Dirty Steve, Out. Actually I would like to see black rings on the target in addition to the Black X ring. Makes scoring easier to see at a glance. But I would wait a few years to do that if it is not done in conjunction with the black X ring.
  10. Ok, I said that I post my last on the subject, but I'm just glad some one finally agrees with me. Not shooting the match (Quitiing) wont solve any thing. Bruce I am going to take back some of the bad things I have said about New Jersey over the years. There are now three folks I like from there. Dirty Steve, Out.
  11. SRT Driver, Ok, I must be missing something. I was in the Army for 10 years and was always under the impression that the folks in charge don't have to give a reason. They are in charge of AP shooting in this country so they make the rules. We can either play by them or stay home. Money should not be a big issue for changing a trigger pull. I have not got an estimate for the cost involved in changing a gun from a 2 lbs pull to 3.5 lbs. But it should be cheaper than having a trigger lightened. A coulple new springs should do it. I wasn't aware foriengn shooters were being treated like garbage. I thought they were being treated the same as the rest of us. I sent Rudy a suggestion that any new rules would not be in effect till the following calendar year to help with shooters coming form outside the US having ample time to have thier guns fit the new rules. Has any one else done this? The Rules committee is meeting shortly so get those ideas in. If I were on the Committee I would be against it. And I would be very vocal asking why and raisng my vioce to be heard loud and clear. But as it stands I am just another kid in the sand box playing with some one elses toys. I am finnished with this subject. In case you all are wondering, No I don't have many friends! I am hard headed and, I am always right. Even if nobody else can see it. Haha.. Dirty Steve, Out
  12. Grant J., I don't feel I have missed the point. The fact is they want a new rule. It is their toy and their sand box. They are free to break their own toys. The fact is that if a person can not rise to a challenge and they quit shooting NRA AP, then they show what they are made of, period. If the NRA says thier lawyers want a trigger wieght rule then their lawyers are the one responsible for pleading the case. I want to go on record saying I don't like the rule but if a 3.5# trigger keeps someone from beating Doug then they have more to worry about than trigger pull. It's called practice. No I haven't finnished in the top 25. But I know what it will take me to get there. An accurate pistol and more Practice. I have the gun and I am working on the practice. I will see some of you at the Cup again next year. Hey, who knows how the guy walking around Bianchi this year with a limp got the hole in his leg? I do. He pulled the trigger while the gun was not pointed in a safe direction. Safety is simple. You can not legislate common sence, but that won't keep the NRA and Lawmakers from trying. Accidents are going to happen regardless. Dirty Steve, out
  13. SRT Driver, I understand folks have a butt load of money invested in guns. I have two Les Baer's a Rock River and a Kimber with another one on the way (6" Rock River Slide and frame metallic shight gun.) So I know about laying out cash. The plain fact is America has become so lawsuit happy that large organizations must concider liability. I would hate to see the NRA get sued out of existance and have no one in Washington speaking for me. With Out the NRA we would have long since lost our freedoms. Actually we could gain any of them back if we lost some. If some one has the cash needed to file a suit and take it to the Supreme Court. But it is easier to fight from loosing a right, than fight to get it back. I love guns and shooting for what they are. (Fine tools and a great challenge) Not for any other reason. I have already contacted Rudy twice since the match and expressed my concerns. How many others have? How many have contacted Doug, Bruce or Robbie asking them to give some support and contact the NRA? I asked the limits to be 2 lbs for an Open gun and 3 lbs for a Metallic gun. I decided to set a limit every one could live with. a two pound trigger is reasonable for an Open gun. The Open gun has only one purpose and can serve only as a match gun. Sure some folks are going to say well my gun has a 12 oz trigger and I never had an AD. Well that's fine and dandy but the AD is coming for that shooter. Sure a Liability Waiver can and should indemnify the NRA of accidents. The gunsmith making the trigger pull so light is going to be more liable than the NRA but a lawyer would go for the deepest pockets. Having waivers signed would prevent a judgement, but legal costs would still be incured if an accident happened. Sorry for the rant. I had to be tactfull this time so I could save the moderator a lot of time So I urge every one to write the Board and push for a reasonable trigger pull limit and the use of Liability Waivers. Dirty Steve, Out.
  14. I did some editing here. Let's keep it friendly, or keep it off the forum. Kyle F. Administrator There seems to be a lot of talk about quitting or moving on here. I don't like the propsed rule changes (I have written Rudy about them, have you?) and I will do my part to put economic sanctions against the NRA if it comes down to that. (Hear that Rudy. That means only one or two Approved/Registered Matches in the year. Less cash flow for you guys. Multiply that times however many guys on this site co-ordinate them across the country) But, I'm not quiting. I will continue to go to the Cup. I have only been to the last two but that's two in a row. You can not change something by leaving it. Well you can but how does making it go a way due to lack of participation help anyone? It don't! [edit] I will stop shooting it when I win or at least beat Robbie. [edit] So if you want to take your toys and go home that's fine. The rules apply to everyone. Not just three or four folks. So lets see what you are made of. Dirty Steve, Out If you want to try to trash me directly for this feel free to email me at Ginger@devtex.net. See I gots me a manly email addy. Kind of like a Boy Named Sue.
  15. Well this years showing was not what I had hoped for but I did go from 145 (1508-68) last year to 118 (1673-86). I had two jams that cost me about 30 points I also shot two "sliders" that cost me 18-20 more points. But atleast I shot my game and did not rush. I guess next year I will do even better. Dirty Steve, Out.
