  1. Pensfan, you might find the Bayou Bullets will allow you to load longer. I have Kel Tec PF9 that has a short throat, 1.095" is an average length for it. Recently got some 124gr Bayou Bullets, no problem loading them at 1.130".
  2. Jamie, To answer your first question these bullets have been used by Philip Hemphill, who is 10 time national champion in PPC shooting. This bullet is also used by Johnny Brister, who is a 6 gun master. This bullet is excellent competition bullet. This bullet is call a JHP bullet because one end has a hollow cavity. All hollow point bullets will expand. Johnny Brister is an avid hog hunter with a pistol and he uses this bullet when hunting. If I can be of further help please fill free to contact me. Joe Tranum President Earlier in this post I mentioned that I was emailing Precision Delta for clarification on whether or not their jacketed hollow point did or did not expand, here is the reply.
  3. Well I guess since YOU stated it, it's done! I apologize for not being clear, you've misunderstood me, I'm not b*tching at anyone, I'm trying to clarify. My original post said that I bought the PD 9mm JHP rounds for target use, IF they expand decently, I'll use them as a back up for SHTF times. I also stated that I'm new to reloading, hadn't heard of a hollow point being specifically for target shooting with expansion not part of it. I do have Hornady hollow point bullets specifically for reloading for SD, and carry Gold Dots, all I wanted to know was IF the PD expand and if so how much. Sorry if I upset anyone, maybe I asked the wrong question or the question was asked wrong. Ziebart, thanks for the info, pretty much what I wanted to know, learn something new everyday.
  4. Where, wikipedia? First, if you'd read further into the page, you'd see the bit about JHP designed for match/accuracy: Second, I just fixed the top bit where it gave an incorrect (and later contradicted) blanket statement about JHP being designed for expansion. You made my point, MATCH OR TARGET being the terms that, to me, distinguish between the SD and target bullets. Let's not split hairs here, maybe it's just me, but the term hollow point means a bullet meant to expand, I'm fairly new to reloading, have not heard the term 'target hollow point' specifically. You might want to check a few other 'dictionary' sites, I'm not alone in my understanding of what hollow point means.
  5. No "false advertising" is involved. These JHPs are not advertised by any of these companies to expand. Ya'll might want to look up the definition of 'jacketed hollow point', I just did, designed to expand upon contact. If you can show me where on the Precision Delta site it says anything about them not expanding or meant specifically for target work....not trying to say anything bad about Precision Delta, I have an order in with them and intend to use the bullets, I have never dealt with them before, they have a great rep which is why I ordered. BTW, I did send an email to PD, I'll see what they have to say.
  6. Seems like a bit of 'false advertising', maybe it's just me, my definition of JHP/jacketed hollow point is a bullet designed to expand on impact. If these are designed to be target bullets, (at the price they sell 'em for, makes sense), then SAY so, right? Question, are hollow point bullets GENERALLY more accurate? I suppose these questions should be directed to PD and they will be, I'll let ya know what they say.
  7. Recently ordered 9mm JHP bullets from Precision Delta. Has anyone tested them for actual expansion? I've heard that they are just 'target' JHP, what exactly does that mean? Does that mean they don't expand, at all? I ordered them mainly for target with the option IF they expand decently, to keep a bunch for SHTF times.
  8. Got some reloading equipment for Christmas, Lee 4 hole Turret press, so far so good, after a few oops, got some ammo reloaded, 9mm and .38 special, all went bang AND all the guns still work! My first 'efforts' were LRN, 115gr for the 9mm. Quickly found out loaded at the recommended OAL of 1.125", (this number was the best I could find initally), they wouldn't 'ker plunk' into the chamber of my Kel Tec PF9. After trying several things, (including crimping it into a useless piece), 'painted' the end of the bullet with a marker, thumbed it into the chamber and found out the problem, too damn long. Finally when shortened to about 1.100" it went in. I settled on 1.095", loaded up 50, feeling pretty good about life when the thought hit, "what has the shorter length done to things?". Decided not to shoot those, didn't want to waste them, 'discovered' a bullet puller. Got good info from Lyman which was 5.0gr of Power Pistol @ 1.060", since I was longer started at 5.2gr which so far has worked well. Went through similar with the wife's .38 special, loaded using 6.0gr Power Pistol, (not a lot of info initially found for this combo), ended up buying some Bullseye, plenty of info for that, (turns out the Power Pistol rounds would have been safe, a bit 'snappy' but safe, didn't want to take any chances, my first efforts AND the wife's gun). Waiting on an order from Precision Delta, ordered 1,000 9mm 124gr JHP, trying to find out how well they expand, bought mainly for practice, but if they expand decently, I'll stash a bunch for SHTF times when legal issues won't be too important. Looking for an M&P9 for the wife, we are both looking to check out IDPA, she's good with the snubbie but want's something better suited. I have a S&W Sigma so we will both be able to shoot two classes.
