  1. I posted this in "Last Shot Fired"

The President of Jonesboro Practical Pistol Shooters. A small club in northeast Arkansas.

The last time I was with Ernie was mid Janurary when we re-elected him President. He was in great spirits, just like every single time I've ever been around him.

    Here's what I received:

"It with great sadness I tell you that Ernie Simpson passed away this morning

at 8:18 a.m. As soon as I have further information on arrangements, we will

pass the information on to you."

One heck of a great guy and a dear friend.

    It hurts.

  3. 29 rounds in all my STI big sticks and they fit the gauge. Gramms tuned tubes, new Gramms spring/follower, & basepad. Last round is medium tight, with brand new springs I have to bump the magazine while holding down the top round to easily insert the 29th round. After a few loading/unloading cycles I can generally load the last round without bumping the mag.

I generally only load 29 when I really need it because reloading to a full 29 rounds seems to lead to cracked grip frames for me.

Even at 29 rounds they are so reliable I hardly ever use my 140mm mags.

    Ditto what Nolan said

  4. Thank you Nolan. :) I had read your threads on the cracked frames, but I didn't realize that you had reached a conclusion and it had solved your problem. It sure sounds logical. I am using an STI release. I'll change it to an SV and see if this grip survives.

Lynn I'm not faking dry fire, I'm faking shooting matches. When I get good at it I'm going to do like you and fake Major Power Factor. :P gottcha

  5. Thanks guys. I was using a 140 mag loaded down 2 rounds. I guess I'm not good at decelerating on the reload. I was hoping that the CRT mags might assure me on not having the problem again, but I guess it's me and not the mags. It's not worth the risk to me to try the CRT's cause it's a real PITA to change out the grip if it's just from me slamming it too hard. I think I'll do what Flex suggested and go back to dry firing, but just fake the reload.

    Thanks for the help guys.

I'm gonna keep in touch with Steve and see if he runs into it since he's giving an SV limited a try. Who knows... if I go check out SA & TT's reload videos, I might accidently learn something. I doubt it, that'd be a stretch for me.

  6. Here's my problem. I got Steve's R&R book quite a while ago and was really getting into it using an STI framed gun with STI mags loaded with dummy rounds. Everything was going great. I loved the El-Prez and walking reload drills. I was really hitting the reloads and that's when trouble reared it's ugly head. I felt the grip crack when the mag went past the release. I was slamming the mags so hard I cracked the grip. Anyone else run into this before? I searched and didn't find anything on it. Will the plastic practice mags prevent the problem? It's put a stop to my dry fire practice and I'd like to get back into a routine of work towards improvement again.

  7. Ron the match was great. Everything seemed to run slick as grease on glass. Get some work out of that SC next year though. ;)

Matt I enjoyed the hell out of being squadded with ya. HOA and without a single penalty while shooting Production... mucho empressive! If we'd had about 20 more stages I might have accidently learned something, I'm a slow study, but I will remember the swinger lesson from this day forward.

Maybe next year we can have a "steak" shoot instead of a "stake" shoot. I might be able to cut through that!

And I thought my wheelbarrow-guncart had style.

  8. It could be operator inexperience. I'm writing a book to help with reloading.

You grab the handle on the press and stroke it smoothly (no cases, bullets or

powder), just go through the motions of reloading. Set an imaginary bullet and

stroke the handle.... We call it dry-loading. The book will be called " Not

so refined, but very repetitious. The Monotony of Reloading"

500 strokes of the handle per hour is a good starting point.

Sorry SA, I just couldn't resist.

p.s. Don't forget to dry feed the primer tubes. No machines, hand feed only. ;)

  9. This is one of the best business card programs I've used and it's a free download

    here:

    http://www.avery.com/us/Main?action=softwa...de=WEB01&node=0

It's the DesignPro Limited Edition. It seems easier to use than the MS Word card

    printer option.

You can also use high-gloss photo paper, then cut it with a paper cutter or a steady

hand with scissors/knife. If you print both sides be sure and let it dry good before

feeding it back into the printer.
