I've used Hi-Viz, Dawson, Novak, and Warren's FO tubes. Hi-Viz and Warren look red to me. Dawson looks a little pink. For green, Hi-Viz looks more yellow when compared to Novak's green FO tube. I would say the diameter of the tube would be the biggest variable when it comes to brightness. I prefer Dawson, Novak, and Warren when it comes to FO front sights since they don't use a proprietary tube design like Hi-Viz...

This thread has been bothering me for the past few hours. I just woke up and realized what it could be. I believe you had an out of battery discharge. It's happened to me a couple times with different pistols, mostly 1911s. Sig Sauer says that it can't happen, however if you google search it, you will find that many people have had similar experiences. Hope this helps, I woke up out of a dead sleep with this theory...

Same here...I live in hotels during the week, and on weekends it's a pretty small house. It's handy to keep post-it notes in my range bag anyways...

I used a harsh chemical bath to clean the slide on a G34 a while back. After it was dull and very dim. A couple swipes with the lighter, and presto...Good as new! When installing a new FO rod I always cut it a bit too long. That way when heated up, it bubbles up on each side to almost the width of the blade. I figure the more FO I can have the better...Keeping in mind not to exceed the with of the front sight though...

I've used both. My G34, G35, and STI USPSA Single Stack all have red FO in different thicknesses. The only one I have green on is my M&P Pro. I have always thought red was the way to go, however recently I've found that I'm just a little faster at picking up the green. Since switching to the green my splits are faster, though accuracy has diminished a little. That's something I can work on. What I can't do is make my eyes pick up red any faster. I'll be replacing all of my FO sights with green.
