  1. I have a old Knights 308 match sr25 with a 24" barrel. I am going to chop the barrel between 16" and 17". I measure the gas port at .090", it is rifle length.

My question is what size gas port is going to give me the best results? Should I open it up or keep it the same?

At this point I have a Surefire break I plan on using.

    Thanks,

  2. I cant comment on this myself, but I have seen some posts in the past about the clear extensions not being as tough as the black. May be different plastic, floks were having blow outs. I run one that is black, have not had any trouble with it. I would try a search here and on some other forums, may or may not be true. Could be an old problem that has been fixed as well.

  3. I am just about the same size and run a LMT sopmod fully collapsed. I like to get my support hand as far out to the end of the gun as possible. Rifle length or longer forends work well for this, and short stock if you have short arms.

I would stick with what you have. Short and light.

  4. If a thick reticle is the only drawback I do think I am going to try it out. I was worried about the glass not being worth the cost. $2k is a lot of coin to drop on a scope I have not been able to look through first.

If anyone else is running one, please chime in.

  5. I am looking at one of these for my .308 AR. Looking for general opinions on them, worth the money? Glass? Reticle?

The one specific question I have is the ability to use a cat tail. Does the magnification adjustment turn too far in either direction to use one?

  6. Still run the factory Novak rear and green front on my Pro. I think they work just fine. The only thing I plan on doing is cutting 50 lpi serrations on the back of thear rear sight to match my 1911s. Something about looking at serrations, just a continuity thing I guess.

  7. My 07/02 dealer told me that the anodizing on a Mega lower was not done correctly, which caused him problems when he had to engrave one for an SBR. Basically, the anodizing was too rough and caused chipping. He says he sent a sample to a lab for analysis, who said there was not enough current in the anodize tanks. He does a lot of engraving on receivers, so he probably has an expert opinion on the matter. This probably doesn't matter, and may have just been due to an isolated anodizing run, but there it is.

I have a regular forged Mega upper receiver on one of my ARs that I am very rough with. The anodizing is tougher than any other I have and matches my Knight handguard perfect. All the Mega receivers Ive seen appear to be the same. Just my opinion.

  9. What is your price range? Do you want a full size or compact? I would tell you to go to a shop and hold everything in .45, when you find a QUALITY firearm that fits your hand the best, buy it.

The compact M&Ps fit the hand nice. I carried a 1911 for 2 years or so, very comfortable do to the width of the gun, but heavy to carry everyday for extended amount of time. HK makes a good gun, USP 45 compact and HK45 compact, both are good sized carry guns. Sig 220s shoot real nice, have a good da/sa trigger. I dont like Glocks due to the grip angle. But this is all my opinion.

Capacity in all of these is about the same, 8 or 10 rds for most .45s is the norm.

They all have pros and cons, the decision comes down to what you like and want.

  10. I like the grip work and serrations. But like the Costa M&P I dont think they are worth the money, paying for the name on the slide. I do have to say that Hilton Yam make a hell of a 1911, I do like 10-8 products. Good high quality stuff that has function.

  11. I shot a friends Troy, for the price I think its a great carbine. The muzzle brake leaves a lot to be desired, but it is a mid gas 16" barrel. It shoots a bit harder than I expected, recoils and moves off target more like a carbine length gas gun. But with a new muzzle brake, the gun shoots like a dream, he installed a Surefire brake.

But still, at the price they are selling for, I would grab one if I needed or wanted another 556 ar
