I shoot mixed headstamp, but same load and OAL (at this time 147gr rmr fp with ~2.9gr titegroup; ~111pf out of shadow 2 compact). Seem to have a large group spread. Ran 115 factory winchester behind it (135 pf) and group went from soft ball (147s) to ~golf ball size (115s) at 15 yards.
Range buddy told me the mixed headstamp will contribute to this increase in group size. I have not yet had a chance to test this by loading a batch with all same headstamp, but figured someone has tested this and can provide insight. I can undestand change in velocity with different cases and possibly affecting elevation, but growth in group windage has me confused.
Also trying to factor in the contribution of bullet weight and load power factor effect. Load too light makes larger group at longer distance?
Understand that i could vary loads etc.to figure this out, but appreciate some input to save time and ammo.
