  1. Great responses. Sounds like I'm over worried about failures in battery. I can spot cracks easy. Its the signs of overpressure and buldge that i was worried about, but maybe i gotta let go.
  2. The most time cosuming and cumbersome part of reloading for me is checking brass after cleaning for dents, extractor dings/scratches, bulging etc. I take each case one by one and look at it 360° for defects. I can't imagine anyway to expedite this process, but maybe someone out there has a better way? 9mm/straight wall cases
  3. In retrospect of this thread, I agree with you. Interesting that 130-135 pf is your compromise as this is what I get from factory ammo. I should add that i shoot idpa ccp which has min pf of 105. Seems like i need to do some testing. Pf vs. Accuracy....what is the right compromise?
  4. Thanks guys. Upping the charge seems like a good path to go down.
  5. I shoot mixed headstamp, but same load and OAL (at this time 147gr rmr fp with ~2.9gr titegroup; ~111pf out of shadow 2 compact). Seem to have a large group spread. Ran 115 factory winchester behind it (135 pf) and group went from soft ball (147s) to ~golf ball size (115s) at 15 yards. Range buddy told me the mixed headstamp will contribute to this increase in group size. I have not yet had a chance to test this by loading a batch with all same headstamp, but figured someone has tested this and can provide insight. I can undestand change in velocity with different cases and possibly affecting elevation, but growth in group windage has me confused. Also trying to factor in the contribution of bullet weight and load power factor effect. Load too light makes larger group at longer distance? Understand that i could vary loads etc.to figure this out, but appreciate some input to save time and ammo.
  6. With aggressive dry fire par times its hard for me to tell if I'm making As,Bs zone at soonest sight picture on target. Especially with a 1/6th scaled target. I was thinking about making some sharpie marks around each zone, but wondering if this would negatively affect match performance where the zones arent clear. Thoughts anyone?
  7. With the reloads I'm shooting 6" groups at 12 yards. Center of the group is about 3" high. Factory ammo shooting 3" groups at 12 yards.
  8. First batch of 9mm reloads (MG 124gr.CMJ with 4.5gr W231)are not very accurate. They tend to shoot high compared to factory ammo. OAL is 1.160. Any guesses?
  9. When I run a 9mm case through my sizing die the case diameter is slightly larger at the bottom (primer end) quarter than at the top. The die is adjusted all the way down to the shell plate. I have tried multiple case brands and got the same results, and the cases are uniform dia. across the length prior to going into the die. Anyone know what my issue is?
  10. Using W231 powder. Anyone know what load for a Montana Gold 124 gr. CMJ? OAL?
