I bought some "Black Magic" tape off of Amazon for $6 and cut my own; it's working just fine and I have a couple of square feet left over for other applications. The $24 you save is 100 rounds of 9mm! I'd recommend avoiding the backstrap - it slowed my draw (specifically, sliding my hand up snug on the beavertail) and chewed up my palm on longer practice sessions.

Huh. Have yet to see that on my new 4.25" Pro. Between live and dry fire I'm probably at 50-60 reloads - if anything, it's still stiff on the slide release. Maybe after a couple of months I'll run into this, but haven't seen it yet...

I'm using Fobus "Double Magazine Pouches S&W M&P 9mm, .40 cal" for my M&P9 mags - working out fine so far. They're on the cheaper side - they don't have adjustable tensioners but rely on fuzzy-sided velcro patches inside for tension. I've read that they fail after a while, FWIW. But hey, $20 for a double pouch off of Amazon...
