Thanks for the help Joe. I have thought about his grip being the problem but wasn't sure that would affect it by not feeding. The gun is a little big in his hand. Any suggestions on how to increase his grip strength on the gun? Will

My son and I shot our first match this Saturday, he is 13. We were shooting open class and we both have an STI Trubor. I reload for both guns and the only difference in the two are his has a lighter mag release spring. When shooting most of the stages his gun would not feed by picking up the next round, the slide would not come all the way forward. Sometimes he would be ok by pulling the slide back and other times he would have to drop the mag and reinsert then rack and it would work. My question, do you think he is not seating the mag all the way, not pushing it up hard enough? Could the lighter spring make a difference? For what it's worth, he was the only junior shooting open and finished 4 out of 4 but not by much. Hr also finished 41 out of 46 overall. If he had not had the problems he would have been much higher. Any help will be much appreciated. Will
