  1. Thanks for replies/links. But what's the general consensus on the ICE holster tho (well, besides not using it for guns with tall Dawson front sights)?
  2. I went 2 pants sizes up for the CR Speed Belt and there's a decent overlap to ensure velcro grip. I *think* US pants sizes are not the actual inch measurements (so like US size 32 jeans is actually 34" in circumference) while the belts are accurate to an inch. I have not shot IDPA, only IPSC/USPSA, but I believe I was told a few months back that for IDPA you have to remove the DOH and mount the holster on the belt without any drop offset. So I would look it up in regulations.
  3. So I was helping out at the match earlier today and one competitor had has gun fall on the ground (after the signal) while he was drawing it from the Blade Tech ICE holster. I realize that the holster cannot be fully blamed for the competitor's mistake of probably wrong/weak grip, but with the old Stingray the gun would have probably dropped back into the holster. Now being the newbie shooter with the Blade Tech Stingray holster (which doesn't seem to be available from Blade Tech anymore) for my current firearm I wonder which holster do I pick if I get a different firearm for competitions. Now the fun part, the questions: * Has anyone else witnessed any issues using Blade Tech ICE holsters? * Did I just not look hard enough and are the Stingrays still available from Blade Tech? Thanks!
  4. Does anyone know if these: http://www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=PM2410 would work in CZ?
  5. Well, I've got to try those in my gun. Actually the ones I've tried looked more like these, but with the black followers. They do fit and feed rounds fine, but as soon as a first shot is taken they are no longer free-drop. I actually have to use some force to pull them out of the magwell. I've also noticed that the top part of those EAA magazines is slightly larger than that of the CZ ones so there's some friction around the trigger bar which prevents the magazines from dropping free. From what I've heard the full-metal Tanfoglio magazines sold in Canada have indent inside which prevents follower from being removed so it's impossible to thoroughly clean those. So I'm back to square one with the search for the durable 9mm 10-rounders.
  6. Right, so Speed Shooters what? Thank you all guys for your replies. A follow-up question -- are there 9mm 10 round magazines for M&P which look like normal magazines (metal tube + baseplate) rather than two-piece (metal upper short tube + plastic lower heel) like that: Thanks.
  7. Well, I loved the M&P Pro I've shot at the range yesterday. I've tried USP, P30, G34 (and even PPQ, I have not seriously considered it as a competition gun due to its magazine release tho) and for a number of reasons I liked the M&P the best. It did have the glow in the dark sights with the front luminous paint completely gone but I'm too spoiled by the FO sights by now anyways. So what's the best web-site for finding different parts/accessories for the M&P series (like what's the equivalent of the czcustom for the M&P)? Thanks!
  8. EAA obviously have been bitten one too many times in the past with the customer stating "this is what I want to order", then when they get it find out it doesn't fit/work. Hence the requirement they have for wanting a serial number, as much of a hassle that is for when you know what you are asking for. Your really better off buying some MecGar small frame EAA mags, like from Greg Kote or Midway, or other places as well. Good luck Thanks, but I need them to be Canada-legal (10 rounds) and I don't think MecGar makes them in 10-round capacity and if they're 16-rounders or more and are pinned you can't take them apart, so 10 rounds Tanfos/EAA are my only option. I seem to have narrowed down the Tanfo model number so I can try ordering them thru the local dealer. Again, much appreciated!
  9. So I'm trying to get the product SKU off EAA for the CZ-compatible magazines and of course when I said it's for the small-frame old EAA gun they've asked me for the serial number. What can I tell them (year of production, etc) to clarify what type of magazines I need without having the actual Tanfo/EAA gun with the serial number?
  10. Thanks! Do these stick out a bit from the bottom like the rest of Tanfo/EAA magazines?
  11. Thanks, dunno how I missed them! However, I'm not too keen on them for two reasons: 1. Price -- I should be able to get Tanfo/EAA mags for about as much 2. It's still a two-piece design. I wouldn't have an issue of the plastic part breaking free of the metal portion of the magazine, but eventually I'm afraid these aluminum parts will wreck the magazine upper. If I can't find the Tanfo/EAA magazines, I'll probably go this route tho.
  12. Mo -- where did you get your Tanfo mags, how much were they and is there a product ID I could use to order them at my local shop? Any help on identifying those Tanfo mags which do work in CZ will be hugely appreciated!
  13. I'm attaching the photo of the 10-rounders I have. The problem is that when they're free-dropped, there's a lot of stress on the lip of the plastic heel and it comes out of the metal part.
  14. I've looked at these and they also have that huge plastic heel, so they would be exactly the same as the CZ ones. Thanks, but I can't -- the problem is not the base. On the CZ 10-rounders the lower third of the magazine is plastic. You don't remove the baseplate, you remove the whole plastic heel. I'll try to post the photo tomorrow. The problem is that when being dropped at an angle the metal part of it (plus whatever rounds left) force the bottom part out. Again, it will be clearer when I post photos. Are there any CZ shooters from CA around here? They have similar magazine restrictions, I wonder what do they use? I practice almost exclusively indoors, so it's a huge deal for me.
  15. Thanks! So this one is confirmed to work in CZ? I can just get the EAA 101920 mags locally and they should work?
  16. As I said before, I've read it. Thanks, I'll try that.
  17. No, thank you, I'd prefer to spend money on the regular metal tube/plastic baseplate magazines instead. Also, you can change out your baseplate to an alluminum one made by CZ Custom..... No, I can't -- it's more than the baseplate. You need to see the CZ 10-round 9mm magazines to understand why. There're two types of EAA magazines sold now, one for steel frame guns and the other type for the polymer frame guns. Any idea which one might work in CZ? Local store doesn't have any, they'd have to be special-ordered, but I need to know which ones I need first.
  18. I have these horrible 9mm 10-round magazines with the huge plastic heel on the bottom and they are starting to fall apart from being dropped on concrete (just a few times), so I'm looking for the full-metal 10-rounders and from what I've seen online the EAA/Tanfoglio magazines fit the bill. However there are two types and as far as I understand they're for different frames EAA/Tanfoglio guns. Which ones would be compatible with my Shadow? A link/part number would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  19. Have read the rules. Thanks for the tip, I will see about the diary. Being new I can't really contribute to the content. It's true I can ask questions, but my point is that pretty much *all* the questions I've had I could find answers to *as long as I've used search*. If I do come by a problem that no other new shooter has had before I will sure post a question, but so far it hasn't happened much. Frankly, I doubt I will face a problem nobody else has faced before (so it hasn't been discussed here yet). I am here to learn, I do *not* need to post for that tho. But my preference to search instead of to post sure does limit my access to the important section of the forum (and if it wasn't important to other members it wouldn't have been used that much). If you want to limit the access to parts of the forum that's your call, it's not helping newbies much tho. It's actually punishing those who search.
  20. Hey Pat, nice to see that my post got noticed by the moderators! Maybe you can tell me then, being a new shooter and with the ample information available to those who search what can I possibly contribute to the forum to get to 50 posts?
  21. Thank you guys! The great thing about this forum is that the general tone is very welcoming -- I felt at home even before I first posted. I shoot production minor -- the first match I've shot the SIG P226 but I kept pushing the slide release with my thumb so following advise of many shooters I've met locally I've got myself a Shadow. Funnily enough, that Shadow failed me at the last stage of my first USPSA match -- the rear sight problem. [edit]
  22. Hey folks, long(-ish) time reader first time poster. I'm from BC, Canada, been to one IPSC match in Canada and one USPSA match. The only reason I'm posting this is the requirement to get to 50 posts before I can do the posts in Classifieds. No secret you need (well, want) a lot of gear starting out and I wouldn't mind getting some used off the older forum members, but getting to 50 posts isn't easy. Even when I do have a question that could be addressed here, there's usually all the information I need if I use the search. I understand there should be a deterrent from spammers, but being a new shooter there's very little I can contribute to the forum, outside of hanging out in Misc section.
  23. I'd like to get the Kadet2 kit for my Shadow, but all retailers seem to be sold out and nobody knows when CZ will be sending them to North America again, so I've stumbled across the used Tanfoglio Force 22LR and I'm wondering if any of you guys know for sure if the TF22 slide or the Tanfoglio .22LR conversion kit will fit and function on the Shadow? Unfortunately the seller is quite a bit away so there's no way to test before buying. thanks!
  24. I apologize for the thread-jacking, but I figured this would be a better place to ask rather than start a new thread. I'm moving to SP-01 from the SIG P226 with the E2 grips and with my short fingers on the medium-sized palms I can't reach the magazine eject button on Shadow with my strong-hand thumb. So I want to narrow the original question: if you've tried a variety of the *thin* grips for CZ (and your reasons for choosing thin grips are same as mine), which ones (I've seen them in aluminum, plastic and rubber) did you like and why? Thank you guys.
