  1. I'll post my experience since there seems to be a little bit of doubt on validity. I don't post much but I've been around a while so I hope that buys me some credibility. I bought one for myself quite a few months ago. I liked it a lot. Johnny did spend 30 minutes on the phone with me discussing its use etc. I was impressed.

The trigger group is really good. My brother bought the newest one he started advertising and got it in today. It's even better. Really light. The trigger gauge said 2.5 lbs but it's a cheap POS and it honestly feels lighter. Almost no pretravel or overtravel. Just a great trigger.

Anyway, thought I'd chime in on this lovely "discussion".

  2. I'm still relatively new to Glocks. (less than a year.) I'm looking for a definitive answer as to the legality in production of the filling the back strap and then shaping it. I've been told yes and no. I emailed USPSA/Nroi etc a few weeks ago and haven't heard back.

I want to do a diy job as I found a few links and it seems easy enough.

Any thoughts? I do have a plug in it now and it's beat to hell and still manages to catch the occasional mag. I'd prefer just a nice smooth transition.

if you install the #6 trigger spring that comes with the kit and use the 4# range spring you can bring it down in weight.

Also I've had good feedback and success with cutting 3 coils of the reduced power safety plunger just make sure the cut end goes into the plunger spring opening. Sometimes I'll bend the cut end to give it a flush with the rest of the coils just to make sure the is no off angle in the tension vector however the channel it's captured in keeps it pretty well aligned and there is still ample spring tension to operate the safety 100% engaged.

For reset turn the rear hex screw till the edge of the beak/nose of the trigger bar is a little under flush with the connector.Don't push it to far or your trigger will not reset.

Try this and let us all know.

Glad you like the kit! it really is a true custom trigger as I do all the hand work my self which is rare these days but it's the love of work and I still believe in doing your very best! There is a difference.

I ordered one Johnnys drop in trigger set ups for my G35 I'm setting up for limited. Cost was $120 shipped. I'm coming from CZs for many years so I'm not a Glock expert by any means. My G34 has a Vanek Classic trigger in it. That is the only trigger I have for comparison. Install took about 10 minutes but I'm pretty sure most of the drop ins are similar. Anyway, I'm really impressed. It is just slightly heavier than my Vanek but the pretravel is almost entirely gone. It is really a drastic difference. It is very crisp for a glock. The reset is almost the exact same as the Vanek.

I would say at this point I prefer it just based on dry fire and the amazing lack of pretravel (yes trigger safety is still working). I'm going to shoot it next week a little and see how it performs but A+ so far.

I didn't mean it to sound like I was complaining about weight. I'm going to try the striker spring in my G34 to get an even comparison. I may try the other tweaks and I'll definitely try the reset adjustment. I'm very pleased. Thanks again.

  5. Try the screw that holds down the mag catch spring. If you look into the frame you will see a flat head screw that holds tension on it. It effects the double action pull. If that is the problem take it out and loctite it in place.

  6. Don't stress over it. When you take it down all the way take your time and really try to understand where every part goes. It helped me to record my own takedown so I could get it back together easier. I still think the trickiest part is the mag release spring and the trigger spring. It isn't complicated it just takes several tries for me to get it right.

  7. I would like to hear from fellow M&P enthusiasts instead of the general Open pistol crowd. I'm shooting Open division in 3-gun with my M&P Pro 9mm 5" barrel. What would you all recommend for a red dot?

    • Leupold Deltapoint
    • Burris FastFire III
    • Vortex Raxor Red Dot
    • other?

I appreciate your responses and recommendations.

    Thank you,

    Mike

While, I've only shot a little with M&P open guns I've shot the Deltapoint and handled the Trijicon RMR on an M&P. I've also shot the Fastfire and cmore sts on other guns. I think the Trijicon is the best choice. I liked the size of the glass on the deltapoint but do not like the triangle and the 3.5 moa dot is too small. I would also look into the Cmore CTS. Haven't seen one in person but looks interesting.

  8. I have one that runs like a top. Once I switched to 9mm I did have to switch to a sideways to get 100% reliability but I haven't had a problem since. I have two big sticks that hold 26 and 27 and they work 100% as well. I am done shooting open (just can't get used to it after 6 months) and considering selling it but I would never feel a need to "upgrade" to an STI as I do not feel at a disadvantage with the gun.

  9. Discontinued due to durability issues per talking with Angus....

    Mick

I'm sure this is the reason. Mine has a lot of wear on it after a year of use. The dust cover and trigger guard have bare shiny metal showing. I don't really mind as it shows I practice.

  10. I made my own, because 1/2" thread is only you can make on CZ 9mm barrel. (I made 1/2-28 thread)

I will add link to my photobucket album where are several pictures of my CZ75 open project, but i can´t do it yet.

I think if someone started offering that service they could find quite a few of us interested. Did you thread the factory barrel and fit the cone to that?

  11. My only concern would be the new guy shooting factory 9mm his first time and not getting to count his score. I have seen a few factory loads (old Blazer especially) that are really close to 125 when I chronoed them. I know most of the Winchester white box is okay but there are some loads that are subminor.

For those of us that shoot regularly and know the rules I think it's fine as long as the match doesn't slow down. I'd rather find one of my loads going under at a local than something I paid big money to shoot. While my chorno may say its okay I don't have the ability or time to test my loads under all conditions so it gives you one more look at it.

  12. I started shooting some Bayou Bullets 135 grain with 6.3 grains of autocomp. Only been through 200 rounds but no leading whatsoever. I'll keep going with it until I see some. It chronoed at 166 so I will need to bump a little bit but I just started with this load. I'm also new to open so the only comparison I have is 124 grain montana gold cmj at 6.9 grains of AC. They are close enough for me. The 124s are at 170 pf though.

  13. Thanks for the help so far guys. I found out one problem with the short mags. They have the same spring crammed into them that the 170's are using. It is a giant spring for such a small mag. I'm ordering some of the Brownings as recommended by Bamboo but also I put in one from a CZ that seems like it fits really well.

How short are the shorties? I run Grams 13-coil springs in both my 170s and my 140s. The 170s have Dawson basepads, but the 140s are running Grams 11mm pads.

Not sure of the length. Well short of 140mm though. Holds 18 rounds. They are a little shorter than my CZ shadow mags.
