Hi,
I'm curious about the "Combat Action Trigger" and exactly what does it change about the trigger.
I was at Redd's Range today and they had one of the XDm 5.25 for a rental. I decided to give it a try. I shot a box through the gun and I was very impressed with it. However, there was one major thing I did not like. It has one of the worst triggers I have ever wrapped my finger around! Granted, I don't have a ton of experience with different pistols. Almost all of my shooting has been done with very good quality pistols and most of them had trigger work done so my judgment might be skewed some. I'm not a fan of the "USA trigger" in the first place, but that was easy enough overcome. In addition to the travel your finger must do to release the safety there is a fair amount of slack to take up before the gun is ready to fire. Once the trigger was ready to fire it broke OK (a bit on the heavy side), but it did have an excessive amount of over travel after the break. But the thing I found completely unacceptable was how long the reset was. It just seemed like I was releasing my finger forever before it reset. The XDm 5.25 web site actually lists the "Minimal Trigger Reset" as one of its advanced technologies. WOW, my only thought was what is one like without this technology!
I have a STI Edge that DP rubbed on and the trigger on that is amazing. It does exactly what a trigger should do, it has very little slack before its ready to break, a nice clean crisp break, no noticeable over travel after the break, and it requires just the slightest relaxation of the trigger to get it to reset, simply perfect!
So my question is really will the "Combat Action Trigger" wind up feeling anything even remotely close to me STI?
Thank You in advance for your response.
