I shoot indoors at BluCore, make a trip to Bob's farm in Bennett now and then, and dry fire in the basement.
Have you been out to any local matches?
Mad mike where do you train at? Cause I'm down in littleton CO.

I looked for a reload too soon here, then the last reload was bad. The partial mag got hung up when I tried to eject it.

Again, got too sloppy on the plate rack. Called that miss, but not before I started my reload. Accuracy wasn't stellar.

Stage 1. Brain farted and hit the second reload too soon. I recovered and got back on my original plan, but I didn't have another 23rd mag to finish. It ended up costing me two extra reloads.

Stage 5. I got confident in the middle of some of the steel arrays and lost track of sights. Too many misses here for sure.

First time shooting the Rocky Mountain 300. It was a very fun match with tons of shooting. I'll post videos of the stages for your enjoyment. I have already identified some things that I could have done differently on each stage. Overall I think I had decent stage plans, but I did mix up a few things, etc.
Stage 4, first of the day. We got the most confusing stage out of the way first.

Sorry to drag this one on, but I have a question/clarification then. At a local match a couple of weeks ago I brain-farted and did a RWR instead of Tac where more movement was required afterward. I got to the next shooting position and made 4 shots, then while arriving at the final position the partial mag fell out of my waistband. It seemed to happen simultaneously, maybe only slightly before, as I arrived and fired my first shot at the final array. I immediately retrieved the mag and fired the last 3 shots.
Did I commit a PE? Before I came across this thread I thought I was fine. But now, if I understand it correctly, should I have been issued a PE for dropping a magazine that wasn't in the course of a reload, period?

Quick question about the TTI base pads. Do you use the butt plate catch plate or just let the spring rest into the bottom of the base pad?

Hey Nick, the spring just sits in the base pad. Catch plates aren't used. That goes for the TTIs and TF.

I placed an order for the ESP magwell and other items on the 13th last week. I got it exactly a calendar week later on the 20th. The front page of the website says they're delayed up to 3 business days, and that's just what I experienced. Well worth the wait.
Don't fret the "Pending" status. Sometimes that doesn't get updated. I have an order in my history from Nov 2012 that still shows pending, but was delivered within days.

These have been up on the website since Monday morning or so. I ordered one right away, hasn't shipped yet due to their backlog but won't be long. Take a look at the photo. The securing device has been redesigned. We knew this was coming and I was anxious to get one. I think it looks great. I heard horror stories of trying to get the pin in the old style. I bought a second-hand CDP magwell for my .45 and it had scars on both sides where the pin goes.
Anyway, just thought I'd post up in case anyone is looking for one. It's only the ESP aluminum version. The Limited version is still not ready I guess, shows out of stock.

I have TF and just received TTIs to replace them. I will go forward with that plan after checking out the TTIs. Quicker disassembly is the reason I ordered the TTIs. I'm using the ISMI spring that came with the TF. I get 23 in mine for 9mm, and I'm comfortable that it will reload just fine. With TF I could only get 22.
The TTIs will clearly be fast to disassemble compared to the TF. As Ricky said, there is an small allen set-screw that you can snug to lock the push-pin in place. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to snug down the screw or not. It feels pretty secure as shipped.

I'm waiting on an ESP magwell. My 9mm Pro plays double duty in Ltd and ESP. If you're talking Ltd only, definitely get the Ltd magwell. I don't have enough experience to have a preference between aluminum or brass. I have to go with aluminum for ESP. Brass should definitely give a bit more weight on the bottom of the gun. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. Seems like it could be quite out of balance. Maybe not?

I assume the .40 followers are much the same as the 9mm. If you take the spring/follower out and just slide on the basepad you may see that the inside corners of the basepad are rounded and slightly obstructing the the bottom corners of the mag tube. My follower would fall freely to the bottom if I just stuck it in with no spring/rounds. When the spring was there and I started loading rounds it would get hung up. I just took a small file and rounded the bottom edges of the follower to allow it to slide past those inside corners of the extension.

Glad you got it figured out man. That slide finish ended up causing of a couple of problems. Learned a bit from that one right?

I think what MadMike is getting at and what would be causing the problem I'm suspecting. Is that the slide coating is too thick and is pushing the barrel away from the slide and out of spec causing it to jam against the locking block.
Exactly. My friend had a slightly similar problem with a new barrel. It didn't quite fit into the slide well enough causing the barrel to hit the locking block resulting in a dead stop when trying to assemble, just like your's. Not quite what you have there, but similar enough I thought I'd bring it up.

Just curious. Is the slide coating new? Have you had it fully together since the slide was refinished? I can't see, is the barrel stock or aftermarket? So the trigger is the ONLY thing changed since you had it together last?

Hmm, interesting. I hadn't heard of this before. Mine has 8k through it now and not a single ejection problem. Maybe I should order one.

Does anyone know if Apex is taking a waiting list for these Bar-Sto barrels? I'm waiting on a response from them as I asked a few questions via email. I'm hoping to get in on one of the new 5" pieces and don't want to miss out.

I understand that the CED 8000 has an earphone output jack, and also comes with earbuds with volume control. What I haven't been able to figure out/confirm is whether or not the earphone jack is a standard 1/8" jack that can be connected to any set of headphones or, more importantly, a set of electronic ear pro with an audio input jack. Can anyone confirm one way or another? The CED 8000 is the only timer that has this feature, right?

Interesting to see this thread pop up. I just started experiencing this behavior last week. I have the mag release on the right side even though I'm a righty. I've had it that way since end of March when I got it. Now 1800 rounds later it decides to start doing this. I assumed it was a rough follower, but had not investigated closely. I'll pull mine apart and play with it some now that you guys have pointed out the potential problem.

Thanks for the info guys. I saw lots of discussion about this in the USPSA section. I should have looked before I asked.
This is a sanctioned IDPA club, the outdoor one. I assume it's a range rule that the IDPA club enforces, although I'm not certain. It seems a bit excessive though. The rule is muzzle horizontal, not even "in the berm". The indoor is not an IDPA club.
I guess I'll try some dry-fire practice to see how it feels keeping the muzzle level. If not, I guess I'll look into alternative places to shoot.

Hey all, I'm a shooter new to IDPA/etc competition. I've been training a bit over the winter and now have picked up IDPA and shot a local "Combat League" match last night. I have a question regarding muzzle direction during reloads. My closest local IDPA club and the combat league both are very adamant about having a level muzzle at all times. The combat league is indoors. I haven't tried USPSA yet, so I'm not sure what their policy is. I've learned/trained to do reloads up in my work space with the muzzle canted upward and to the side slightly to see the magwell, etc. Isn't that common practice, or am I training and developing incorrect movements for this game? Do your local clubs and major matches for that matter require that the muzzle be level with the ground at all times even during reloads, etc?
Thanks for the info. I don't guess there's much I can do about it if I choose to continue shooting their matches. I wanted to get an idea if that's typical or not.

I had/have the same problem with my full-size 9mm. I can't hardly do a slide-lock reload without it auto-forwarding, which I don't mind either as long as it picks up that round. It was very reliable until about 2k rounds, using three mags during that time.
I now have a low mileage 9mm Pro that only has 300 rounds by me. I've been using the same three mags thus far. It drops the slide almost every time I do a reload. It's been 100% so far picking up the first round.
I was thinking that maybe mag springs were suspect, but they still have relatively low use. Are there stiffer mag springs for these? Are they SSP/Production legal? I'm new to IDPA and don't have a grasp on all of the rules yet.
EDIT: I should have looked before asking the question about the extra power springs. I see them right there at SSS. I assume the springs must be legal too given all the other internal parts you can modify.
