  1. It's a lot of rifle for a G. I've been kicking the idea around for about a year to take one of my bench guns and rechamber it from 6BR to 6CM and drop it into a chassis for PRS style matches. Now I can just buy this for about the same money and actually gain a rifle.

  2. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to bend over the ends of the magazine spring. The bare wire can sometimes catch in the join of the extension tube, but when it is bent over you get a nice rounded spring end that is much less likely to snag. I shoot mostly just Winchester AAs, but the few times I had snagging issues it always turned out to be spring related, and it has never happened since I have started bending the ends like this.

Also, just make sure when you assemble that all the pieces are screwed in tightly. The first time I ever had an issue it turned out that the extension was not screwed tight enough into the tube nut, so, even though the tube nut was tight on the internal magazine, there was enough of a gap under the tube nut for that bare spring end to catch between the internal tube and the extension.

Should try using a follower on your shotgun mag. If the factory one is missing you can pick up a first rate replacement from Nordic Components. That should eliminate the bare end of your spring from catching on anything.

But yes, you should bend the ends of your spring so it is pushing squarely on the follower.

  3. How do you guys get your ammo to chrono out to even numbers? I bet it is a bitch to find load that averages right on at 2800 or 3200. Mine always end up at numbers like 3162 or 2996. Does your chrono just round to the nearest 100 fps?

Basically this. I'll shoot 10 rounds over the chrono, average them out and round to the nearest 100

So, in your example I would round to 3200 and 3000 respectively

Why would you do that if you have accurate numbers?
  4. 3200

Is this an actual chronographed velocity? Because I seriously doubt you are getting 3200 fps with PMC out of an AR. My guess, the real world numbers with a 16-18" barreled AR are much closer to 2900 fps. Ballistics software is only as good as the data you feed it. Crap going in.......crap coming out. If you ask around, I'm sure someone at your local club has a chrono and would let you use it after a match to get actual velocities.

  5. Awesome match, awesome venue, awesome people, awesome stages, awesome RO's, awesome MD, awesome Stats crew, awesome RM, awesome scheduling and awesome prize table. Lots of awesome for a one gun match (and the best gun in my opinion).

If this match isn't on your 2016 calendar it should be. That's all there is to it.

I just wish they would bring back the stage where we got to hit a dummy with a stick before shooting circa the 2012 Nordic Shotgun Championship.

Jansen, we still have the dummy, will make it a point to bring him out of retirement.

2016 stage "The Reunion". Start by exiting the shitter and whacking our beloved range master with a stick. Proceed through a 50' pallet tunnel. Upon exiting the tunnel shoot as many hand thrown charcoal briquettes as possible in the allotted par time. All while wearing a gas mask.

  6. Looks pretty good, though I've got a couple things that may help.

First, I would have kept the parking brake. It's not too often you will find yourself parking on a perfectly flat surface and these carts roll really easy on their own.

Second. Many of the ranges that host 3gun matches in MN will have at least one stage you will end up driving to. My cart is set up so my range bag just plops in it and everything stays inside that, so it's not that big of deal to pack up and drive to a different part of the range. With everything loaded in the cart itself you may have to unload the whole works to go hit one or two stages, then do it all over again to make it back to the main range. Not a big deal, but it could be a bit of a PITA for you depending on what stage you start on.

  7. Was the slam fire on dropping the BCG from open or while firing? Have you since checked the trigger assembly for proper disconnector function. IMHO, the first thing you should have done after the very first double is do a safety check on the firing mechanism and fired the rifle yourself to ensure she wasn't bump firing it. Not to berate, but to let her keep shooting a rifle that could be suffering a serious malfunction was a pretty risky move.

  8. I got mine on Saturday and got it installed in time for a Tactical Shotgun match on Sunday. It's a nice piece of gear and ran through the match without any issues. It works as designed in offering some protection of your tube without the potential side effects of running a true clamp. What I really liked is it does this without adding any significant weight to the muzzle end of your shotgun.

  9. There is a local retailer, Arnzen Arms, who supports a lot of the goings on of the local action shooting scene and is a sponsor of this event as well. They are willing to special order any ammo you require and deliver to the match for free as the propriator and many of the team shooters will be there anyway.

Contact Kate at sales@arnzenarms.com ASAP or check their inventory at http://www.arnzenarms.com

There you go.....couldn't get any easier than that!

I am really looking forward to this match! Are stages going to be posted ahead of time?

Stages won't be available until Friday before the match, but I can guarantee it's going to be good.

  10. We will set the match to be somewhere around 300 total Target engagements. We have a cabelas, gander mountain, dicks, and match Gold Sponsor FLEET FARM all within 20 min of range.

Getting ready to ship ammo or not ship ammo. What are the odds of finding 150 rounds of 1300fps & 150 rounds of 1145fps 1 1/8oz 7 or 8 shot in town? I hate shipping shotgun ammo!

My closest Fleet Farm (which is way outside the metro) has had a steady supply of Winchester AA 7.5 Light Targets and Super Sports @ appx $8.50 a box for a long time now. On my way home from yesterdays Tac shotgun match I also stopped at Cabelas and Gander and both had them, but @$10 a box. I also swung into Walmart which had the AA Heavy Targets and the Super Sports, but were out of the Light Targets. Long story short, if you are coming in Friday and leave yourself some time to look around, I'm sure you can find some, but there are no guarantees that you'll find exactly what you want in one stop.

  11. I've got aluminum ones from MGM and Charles Drissel (check the vendor tent), both have been flawless. I've not had the best of luck with the universal polymer ones and wouldn't trust them under match conditions. For coyote hunting conditions they work fine.

  12. Can I mail it to you to drop in and see if it works?

If this is a serious question, I guess I could do that. But I think Kurt has a better idea in sending it to VDI and let them check it out. With the gas rings able to wrap over the bolt as shown in your picture, I suspect there is an issue with the carrier itself.
