  1. While I'm waiting for the SP-01 Shadow Custom to arrive from CZ Custom I was looking at holsters / belt / mag pouches. I do intend to get into one of the shooting sports one day and wanted to know which holster / belt / pouch rig would be the acceptable for all of the various groups (USPSA, IPSC, IDPA, etc.). I am just learning but I would like to go ahead and get the equipment before Uncle Sam's refund runs out. I looked at Blade Tec website but wanted to get some thoughts out there for a newbie. I don't need GM equipment, just a good solid rig to start with. Thanks
  2. Located in Clermont (Lake County)
  3. I emailed all the local Central Florida clubs listed in the USPSA website this past Saturday but no response as of yet. If anyone has a contact to a club around here I would be happy to make the first contact. Thanks
  4. Just ordered a CZ Shadow Custom w/ SRTS. Visited the USPSA website today a fired an email off to the closest club I could find. I'm am about as newbie as they come for comp shooting. I know I need to get comfortable with the firearm so range time is a given. But where do you go to start in this sport? I need to do a lot of homework on what all the terminologies mean (limited/major/minor/etc.). I read the posts here and get lost very quickly in the code-speak that goes back and forth. We all have to start somewhere so I am not looking to get bashed here- just want some solid advice from the experts here. I also don't want to get involved in competing with world-class level folks and feeling like a total loser. I just enjoy shooting and would like to add a little sport to it. Thanks
  5. I'm afraid this is gonna last a long time. Here's the problem, anyone who got caught "under supplied" will be on a buying frenzy once supplies show back up. For those who didn't begin stocking up over the last several years got a real wake up call this year. I think that wake up call is going to feed the buying panic on ammo for a long time to come. Think about it, for those of us who do not reload- are you going to let yourself get caught short handed again? Of course not.
  6. I called a few shops listed on the STI website in FL as dealers but none in stock anywhere. Thanks to fellow forum member gator11 who has graciously offered to let me handle his CZ SP-01 Shadow Target and his STI Trojan so I can at least put them in my hand. I must admit that before yesterday I knew nothing about STI. This really is a great forum and awesome members.
  7. Just checked out the STI website. Very impressive line of handguns. What would be considered their most popular "all-around" 9mm 1911? I am not a game shooter at this point and have no dreams of being competitive other than a local club shoot. Would love to find a few to handle in Central Florida. I see a few shops listed but many times I see shops listed they don't actually have anything (for example, try to find a CZ anywhere that is listed on their FL stocking dealers). Thanks
  8. Tohm I guess I just thought of STI as a high end target 1911. I probably shouldn't have said that without researching first. I was was going off of the very little 1911 chatter I've heard.
  9. Thanks guys. I need to do a lot of research on 9mm 1911s it seems. My natural thought was Colt but not sure if they make a full size 9mm (I've seen the Defender and New Agent). I saw a funky Kimber in 9mm with colored grips but in the limited 1911 reading I've done it seems Kimber catches a lot of hell.
  10. Fondled a S&W Pro 1911 today and really loved the pointability and grip. Never owned a 1911 style pistol before so I'm coming from a total newbie perspective. I know most 1911 platforms are .45cal guns. Is there a recommended 9mm 1911 pistol out there? Something that is known for reliability and worth the money (not looking for STI right now). I'm not using it for any specific competition just range fun for right now. Sorry if this belongs in another forum.
  11. I actually found a CZ TS 9mm at a LGS. I almost fainted. The TS is a beast of a gun. I'm a big guy with long hands and I thought I'd like the TS but the grip did not feel as good in my hands as i was hoping. I was also surprised that the front post was just a black blade. Trigger was interesting and something I've not experienced before. The reset was short but not very tactile. I guess I was expecting a little more for the $1280 price tag. All of these are just personal preferences so no offense to anyone who feels otherwise. I'm glad I was able to find a TS and I think it helped me move toward a Shadow or some other nameless firearm brand.
  12. I hear this argument all the time and all through this thread. Has there been case law to support all of this fear about trigger mods and self defense? Everyone restates this like it's fact or is it just fear perpetuating itself? Has anyone ever been prosecuted or been successfully held responsible legally due to a trigger mod alone? Not saying it hasn't happened but it seems like its just one of those things people say. I am not referring to someone who accidentally discharged their weapon with a mod trigger, but specifically someone in a life or death self defense situation who shot the perpetrator and got into legitimate trouble due to solely a mod trigger.
  13. Call me crazy, but I think stock is darn good looking!
  14. Thanks guys for the offers. I am in Florida and travel much of the state on a weekly basis.
  15. I am not a tinkerer. I am no gunsmith and I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night! I read all kinds of threads about guys polishing this and buffing that- well that ain't me. I used to laugh at the guys who worried about triggers, well now I have become that trigger snob. The P30L DA is absolutely dreadful. The triggers on my Shield and P7 PSP are light years better. I am really leaning towards a SAO trigger but I hear the DA/SA trigger work from CZCUSTOM (Stuart) is amazing. If I could actually find a TS to hold it would likely help in the decision making.
  16. What will you be using the gun for? Any matches or just plinking? Right now just plinking. One day if like to get into something casual. I'll never be that pro shooter that is all consumed with split times. I just enjoy shooting. My local club does IDPA but I don't think it's a by the rule book event. Leaning SP-01 Shadow because of the rail (add TRL-1 for HD) but I can put the light on the Rem 870 for HD. I'm just so torn between the Shadow and TS. I know the 75B Shadow would be IDPA legal but I just like the look of the SP-01 better. But that TS is so sexy. But they do sell a two-tone Shadow from CZ Custom as well. Too many choices.
  17. Gordy- my Glock days are LONG behind me. After three tries hoping I wouldn't get the brass to face again and three strikes- I'm out! I'm really down to the CZ SP-01 Shadow Custom and the Tac Sport at this point. Can't get both so my choice has to be right. Tough time deciding.
  18. I thought about Grey Guns, but the P30L just isn't what I thought it would be. That long slide stop causes me issues and the trigger trough is a PITA on my trigger finger. I know, all correctable with a new slim slide stop and a a grip change. I guess I'm just getting too old to change my grip to accommodate a gun- LOL! But the HK is rock solid reliable. Last thing I want is a gun I gotta fiddle with to get right (FTE, FTF, etc). If I wanted to trim coils I'd get another Kahr ( man that was a frustrating gun).
  19. Been reading the forums and tracking down as much info as I can on the CZ TS. I see all the posts about split times, major, minor classes, etc. I'm just an everyday guy that unfortunately does not have the time to invest in the shooting sports. Just a weekend a month getting to the range is all I can do with kids, work, etc. Last thing I want to do is "over buy" on a pistol but that TS has drawn my attention. I'm a tall guy (6'5" 250#) with long hands (not bear paws) gotta believe from what I'm reading that the TS may fit like a glove. Like most CZs you gotta buy sight unseen. I was heavily leaning SP-01 Shadow but the SA trigger on the TS sounds awesome. The threads regarding FTE/FTF are concerning. Sounds like removing the buffer solved that issue. Do you all feel like the TS is a gun that someone who gets to the range every now and again would enjoy? The trigger on the HK P30L sucks worse than any gun I've owned and I am desiring a phenomenal trigger. They do run a local IDPA style event at my range but not sure if they run all the rules (weight/size). I'm guessing that if it was a by the book IDPA that this gun would be allowed. So, is the TS a gun that would be recommended? Thanks

    CZ Selection

Thanks. I hear Stuart's name being brought up a lot. Calling him and talking about it is likley the best advice as he is clearly the expert on all things CZ.

    CZ Selection

Sorry to use the BE forum to help me shop, but finding a CZ anywhere is darn near impossible. I had every intention of getting a SP-01 Shadow (the one CZ Custom sells) but I need a dose of reality from the team here. Kicked around the thought of doing some IDPA since my local club started a monthly IDPA shoot. I thought I read the SP-01 Shadow may not make the weight cut. What I'm looking for is a nice home defense (w/TLR-1 on the rail which eliminates a CZ75), target, possible event, all around gun. I have also suddenly become a bit of a trigger snob for some reason. To the experts here, what is the best option for what I am looking for? I can't find any CZ locally to hold and pull the trigger on so its basically order sight unseen so I need to rely on you guys for your expertise. What I'm faced with: Get the base gun (which model?), base gun with trigger job from CZ Custom, or just get the tricked out version? Thanks for any help and again I apologize for using this forum for shopping advice.
  22. Hello. Just signed up for the Enos forums to learn all I can. Waiting to get my GSSF coupon and buy a new Glock (sold my old G17 & G27- STUPID). Gonna try out a GSSF event. Need to decide between a G34 (LE version from GSSF) or the standard G17. I am a novice target shooter and have never entered an event. Decisions, decisions...
