Awesome post John. You forgot to include instructions for finding the FPL spring after it flies across the room.

The first frame I removed the pin from was pretty bunged up and the flare on the pin gave no clear indication of what the pin OD was or for that matter where the center of the pin was. Turned a small drill bit about the same OD as the pin by hand and cut the flare off like you would the head of a rivet. That allowed me to see the OD and center of the pin better, might work for you.

I might be wrong but I think it did with teh new rulebook. Can't find a copy of the old one to compare, but as I recall it had a diagram showing the area covered by the stock grip as being all you can modify. The new book shows the front & back strap as being able to use gripe tape,etc..
Personally I think the Hogue is a great grip but when I had my SP-01 Shadow it was not production legal. If it had been I'd still have that pistol. Bulking up the side panels never gave me the same benefit as building up the front.

nothing..the upper will fit on any 75/SP01 style frame. just no need for the lifter lever.

Other than the undercut at the trigger guard and the beavertail, and I suppose the lifter which is already long gone, what is the difference between one of these uppers on a 75B/SA frame and a "real" Shadow?

What is the advantage of using the smaller 75 frame?
In my case, the advantage was that I had one.
Also had mags, grips, sears, triggers, etc.. that fit the CZ75 pattern, all the way up to a spare lower.

I have a home-brewed CTS-LS in .40 and really like it. 75B/SA frame with Tactical Sport upper.
One advantage is that you can have a backup CZ75/SP01/Shadow/whatever that would use the same magazines and maybe even the same holster with a few mods.
I don't know what holsters are available, I'm going to cut the bottom out of a Bladetech to allow the slide to clear and go with that.

Thanks for the tip John. Seller won't ship mags to CA, FYI. These always pop up when I give up looking and buy another toy, just picked up another 75SA and a Winchester Select O/U with the money I had set aside for a TS.

I also find that the Hogue is the only grip that would fit for me, everything else left me gripping the front and the back only. Looks like the rules changed for 2014:

How would you describe your sight picture? For me, I like the POI to be right about where the fiber optic "dot" is. Are you sitting the target on top, or behind, the front sight?

For some reason I am picturing a Dan Wesson revolver with a bunch of holes milled in the barrel shroud. And a *thumb rest [generic]*.

I've been running a 9mm barrel in my 40 top end with no problem. You can't run a 40 barrel in a 9mm slide, it won't fit.
Where does it bind/wobble/whatever? I would think you could go both ways if all outer dimensions of the barrel are the same; if they aren't, how can you go .40 to 9?

CZ-USA lists one ejector for the Tactical Sport, so it might be the same for 9MM and .40 unlike the CZ75B. From what I can see the CZ75B .40 is OK for 9 & .40 but 9MM ejector might not fit a .40.
Maybe this is where my FauxTS would fit in, as a limited minor / steel gun in 9MM. Only $150 to find out.....

How do you tell the difference? This is kind of a big deal given the asking price for this kind of thing.

That's the one that got me thinking, the ad clearly states it started as a TS. The ad DOESN'T state anything about a grip reduction that I can see; that would kill it for me as I want the full size. I don't think I would have shot yours as well with a reduction or without the bigger grips. My dream CZ would be something the size of the 97B with high cap in .40

I'm pretty sure a TS slide doesn't mean it is a TS frame.

Thanks Guys. I am finding that pictures don't help me a lot as the dimensions are so close, I can't tell a TS from a CZ75 from pictures alone.
I sure wouldn't advertise my SA lower/TS upper as a CTS but it must be close! Sure feels like one, It is so close,,,just need more .40 capacity.
Does the CZ Custom CTS use TS magazines? Website says 19 rds of 9MM, like a CZ75 Shadow. Thought the TS was 20?

So the last step in the CZ75SA/TS Hybrid is to get rid of the coating on the bottom of the slide. Otherwise this thing is sweet. With Hogue grips it feels just like a TS, and the combo of a shadow hammer and a CGW sear makes for a great trigger.
As the pic shows it is pretty ugly on the bottom of the slide, I think it is affecting function. I don't want this rubbing on the bullet nose or the hammer, every other CZ I have has a polished finish at this point. Can't quite figure out how to get after it with tools and still keep the surface true, and I don't have a blast cabinet setup.
Any ideas?

One noticeable downside of FPB is... longer trigger reset.
Coming back home, I pulled FPB out of the slide without doing anything else... guess how much shorter the reset got?
You can simply remove the FPB without doing anything else? No blocks? Don't HAVE to remove theFPB lifter arm?
You can get a pre-b sear that covers the gap, a spacer to replace the lifter from CGW or you can cut the legs off your lifter.
Does the Kadet .22 Conversion work well?

I bought one thinking it would be a good training tool. As others have noted, it was tough to get it to where it really simulated my centerfire pistols.
It is a solid design, and makes for a nice but pricey .22.
