  1. Long time match director and President of the Central Arkansas Shooters Assn, Bob Houston, passed away Saturday, 1 day after his 70th birthday.

He was an old school gentleman, and always a pleasure to see at the range.

Bob was at the range re-qualifying his CC permit. He was hit with a stroke. and rushed by helicopter to the hospital. He passed away in route.

Its just perfect that Bob would get some time in at the range and a one last helicopter flight on the day of his passing.

    He will be missed.

My first thought was it happened doing something he loved. I did not know about the helicopter. He was a fixture there, going to miss seeing him there.

  2. I am running dawsons for minor. They are very good. Having an issue with one mag causing a double feed on occasion. been tweaking

the feed lips trying to get it lined out. I have one chip mccormick 9mm mag, no spacer and seems to be doing well. It is very tight to load 10 in it.

  3. I bout the 17rd with the plus 2 base pad. They work in my SP01 shadow but do not drop free from my SP01. When you lay the mags side by side there are some differences. Try one first to make sure it will work.

  4. A friend of mine bought himself a new 1911 for his birthday and had it stolen from his truck 3 weeks later. The local PD called him 5 years later and said they had his gun. When he went to get it, they told him he would have to produce his bill of sale, which he no longer had. He went back to the shop he bought it from and they were able to find his records only because he knew the approximate date that he bought it.

He got his gun back but it looked like hell.

Any else ever have this experience?

Mine was stolen in 96 from colorado springs, recovered in 2006 in pueblo. Sat in the evidence locker until this spring when it was given to CSPD. Investigator tracked me down to my town in AR and called the local PD. I knew a lot of the PD due to my wife working there for 6 years. After I contacted the investigator the weapon was shipped to the PD and I picked it from them.

  5. I bought 6 dawson and 1 chip Mccormick. The mags have been good. The chip Mccormick does not use a spacer like the Dawson's. It seems to be a just a little loner than the dawsons. I have had an issue seating the chip mag with a full mag on a closed side in one of my guns.

  6. I just chrono graphed some blue bullet 147s with TG. 3.1 @132 pf with my cz and 135 out of my 1911.

Not counting the one that chronoed at 1345 199pf...

  7. Almost sounds like the screw should be changed out once a year to make sure its good to go. Or maybe there's a replacement screw out there that's made of some better material that will fix the problem.

The screw is the issue. Where the Allen head is set into the top of the screw it doesn't leave enough material. If the gun was used with some hotter loads it wouldn't last no time.

  8. Recently got a SP-01 and want to work up a good minor load. I have same Bayou 124s, 135s and have a sample pack of 147s on the way. I've loaded these for a Glocks and a 1911, but never worried about PF since I only shoot Limited major in USPSA.

Thought I would try them all to see what it prefers as I am going to give production a try next year. I searched through the forum and came up with these loads. Is this a good place to start for a CZ? I will crono them, but figured I would learn from others trails and tribulations. Thanks

    124 gr 3-6 to 3.8 Titegroup col 1.135

    135 gr 3.2 to 3.4 Titegroup col 1.135

    147 gr 3.1 to 3.2 Titegroup col 1.135

124 and 147 loads look good. havent shot any 135's

  9. I went through my optometrist and had prescription placed in a pair of Wiley x sunglasses ( they sold them at the office). You don't want anything too dark due to various lighting conditions when shooting. I went with a reddish tint since I use red fiber optics on my pistol and it makes it pop. Also i liked the contrast it provides.

  10. Decided the front and rear of the grip could use a little more of an aggressive patterns over factory. I'd like to note that the polymer on these CZ's is...different...for lack of better word than the polymer of a Glock or other polymer framed guns. You can't treat it the same as you can if you stipple a Glock. The CZ frames aren't as lenient with the heat as Glock frames.

What do you mean not as lenient? I have stippled a number of glocks, M&Ps, 2011s. What have you encountered?

If you aren't careful, you'll literally pull off some of the polymer with the soldering gun. I have done a metric crap ton of Glocks and M&P's too. Never had this occur. I've only done a hand full of customer CZ's, but it's the same with them all - you can't leave the soldering gun on the polymer for more than half a second or so, or you'll pull the polymer off. Tough to explain. Try it on a spare back strap and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Ok, I know what you are talking about. I use a brass tip that I had someone make with 20 LPI cut into it. Works pretty well but it can clog up while using it.

  12. 1.6462 match points, out of 2040 available, between 1st to 2nd is close enough to say you can win with a plastic gun.

It is cool to look at the way the two of them got there.

Ben looked to be taking the "I don't need to win stages I just need to do well on all of them" approach. His average stage finish was 7.8 with a Standard Deviation of 6.43. Lowest was 31 on stage 10 where he had a miss.

To me it looked like Bob was trying to win every stage. but his average stage finish was 14.3 with a Standard Deviation of 34.39. The 157th place on stage 3 was a big part of the difference. He lost 32.7 points to Ben on that stage. Bob beat Ben on 12 of the 20 stages, Ben just never had that horrible stage.

The gun did not have a lot to do with the win. The guy with the better approach to the whole match won. A very impressive win in a match stacked with a lot of talent.

    Nice break down
