  1. Fss and trigger takes you out of production.

Be so kind and quote the rule.

    Appendix D4, 21.6, pg. 80

    Exchange of minor EXTERNAL components

Sights, firing pins, firing pin retainers, extractors and ejectors MAY be replaced with OEM or aftermarket parts. Any other components which are externally visible may ONLY be replaced with OEM parts which are offered on the specific model of gun or another approved gun from the same manufacturer except as specifically clarified below. Examples of external components which may only be replaced with OEM parts include (but are not limited to): magazine releases, slide stops, thumb safeties and triggers. Special Notes/Clarifications:

    • Barrels are considered “external parts” and are subject to specific restrictions in 21.4 and associated rulings.

    • A factory/OEM magazine release which extends only the length of the magazine release may be used. A magazine release which provides larger surface area (paddles, buttons) may only be used if it is an OEM part available on an approved model of gun.

    • Externally-visible parts from “custom shop” guns will only be considered “OEM parts” if the custom shop gun is on the NROI list of approved Production guns.

  2. I get occasional product update emails from Apex. The one that I received today said the following:

    Apex/Bar-Sto M&P Barrels - Release Date: December 2012

The Apex/Bar-Sto M&P barrels are nearly ready to roll out the door. After more than a year in R&D, the barrels are on the way from Bar-Sto. The initial batches will be for the 4.25" and 5" 9mm M&P's, so those of you with a full size or Pro / L M&P will have yours first. Fitting services will be available from Apex or you can have them fitted by the gunsmith of your choice. The 4.25" Apex/Bar-Sto barrels will retail for $225.00 and the 5" barrels will retail for $235.00. The first batches of barrels will not be available as extended and threaded, but those features will be offered down the road.

  3. i dont know anything about dillon and have never used one. im not talking down on them as i know many people like them over all other presses. but its hard for me to buy something when im told to buy an extra parts kit when i buy the press. it just looks like to me if the press needs the extra parts kit then it should either come with the press or dillon should fix the problem so you dont need it. thats like buying a gun and the dealer saying oh by the way you will need to buy theese extra parts so you can fix it. dont get me wrong i know things wear out but fast enough to need the extra parts with a new press is sad. maybe i dont know what im talking about. its just the many things that i have read on this site about them. i really think it comes down to personal choice kinda like ford and chevy. like i said i do not have any experiance with a dillon but the threads that i have read about them have kept me from buying one.

The reason for the spare parts kit is to replace parts that commonly wear out, break, or are lost while you are waiting for the replacement part to come in. This is especially useful if you need the part while you are loading your match ammo the night before a major. Since you seem to like analogies, it's more like keeping spare parts for your gun in the range bag. If your gun decides to crap out at a match, fix it and keep on shooting.
