I shot FB3G and BRM3G in tac/optics with a single stack and 10 rd mags, never felt it was a disadvantage. I sometimes shoot my STI, but I shoot the 1911 better, so I try to just stick with it. Most arrays are not a problem with 11 rds in the gun.
I also mostly shoot He Man, so it is no big change.

I've used a couple in stages, and have always stressed GENTLY putting them down. I've never had a problem with that so far. (even had them start on the mover with an FAL) Everyone seems to enjoy it. Always at the start of the stage. They also have to run it dry.
If your club mandates a locked open bolt, the shooter may have to do that manually with the MP5, as I don't THINK it has a last rd. bolt hold open.

Reserved my cabin this morning, waiting for email to see if one is available.
Man, that phone was busy today!

I plan to get a Z6i 1-6x24 for my 3gun rifle. When I talked to my dealer, he asked "which reticle?". I'm thinking the BRT, but want to get input from the guys that are using them before the purchase. Is the BRT the one to go with?
Thanks for the help.

One of my guys built one that I think he said is 6-12. It is steep, 6' off the ground at the upper end, and all shingle. No toe board, no carpet.

Sounds good. Glad you will have Iron and Scope. Count me in if at all possible.
Now, how early can I book a flight? (I hate flying!)

Ok
Question
Why do we have to have ONE unified set of 3 Gun or Multi gun rules?
I know someone at he Home oOffice is working hard on a project to come up with “one set of Multi Gun rules” (to increase membership in this growing sport you must have a rule book over 200 pages long). . . I only see this as a way to piss off everybody.
I voted in the poll on page one that I don’t want one set of rules for all three gun matches. (yeah yeah yeah my opinion is worth less than the time that it takes you to finish reading till this point.)
But ( rant mode “on”)
I like the fact that each of the “Outlaw” matches are played by slightly different rules
In my little perverse way I like going to ‘Match X” and playing in their sandbox and their range rule that states ‘No firearms shall be abandoned with ANY live ammo in them”, and then next month I play at major “Match Y” with a slightly different set of rules, then I go to Raton and start all over again. (MGM is in its own league)
If I don’t like the way a match is run or scored because it does not suit my style, I don’t go . . . No hard feelings,
At this point in time all of these matches are full and I’m probably not going to be missed.
Now I’m not going to start Singing and Preaching about “Diversity” makes us better or humming “Kumbaya”. . . .but I personally find the added challenge and the subtle nuances of each of the big Outlaw Matches is why I will drive 1,600 miles round trip for a day and a half 3 gun match.
No matter what the rules are from match to match the people who enjoy this sport and the competition will continue to show up and the ones who whine and use the rules and scoring of the match DuJuor as an excuse as to why they sucked that weekend will continue to do so whether it is for or against Horner, IMG, USPSA, IDPA or . . .whatever the MD’s come up with.
“better bring you your big boy britches if’en yous wants ta play da big boys games. . . . . Skippy”
(Rant mode “Off”
Please let the Flame war correcting my faulty thinking begin . . . Now)
I don't like to quote other's comments, but I agree 100 %. If I'm going to spends 2-3 days round trip travel time, $$$ in match fees and lodging, hours loading ammo, time spent to practice (although my scores don't show this) and 2-3 days shooting, I also spend ten minutes reading the rules.

to me using a scope is kinda cheating...
.jj
And this is coming from a man that up until recently ran OPEN??!!!

Many thanks to Sam, Chad, Linda, Nathan, Heidi, Kurt, Trapr, Allen, and everyone that worked so hard so we could play.
Thanks to all the great sponsors.
Squad 3 was great. What a ball, especially with the "little people" Even though I shot terribly, I had a great time. I even learned a new way to screw up a shotgun reload. (Did you know you can stuff shotshells into a Super Nova mag tube BACKWARDS? Yes, that does jam up the works quite nicely )
Congrats to all the winners. Some very good shooting out there.

Got all my .308 loaded up last night (for 2 people) and going to do the .45 tonight.
I thought I was the only one that waited untill just before match time to load ammo.
Safe travels everyone.

Just one more minor request. Can we keep the deer in check next year?

Drove straight through (like the dumb butt that I am)to get home, and am feeling it today.
Many thanks to JJ and Denise, Mark and the other "captains", JP, Jim and Nancy, and all the other sponsors. My thanks to all my fellow ROs and staff for all the hard work.
Thanks to all the shooters that make all the work worth while. With only one or two exceptions, EVERY shooter that came through my stage was a pleasure to RO. In a few short years I have made some great friends while doing this, and love every minute of it. (OK, not EVERY minute) Got to visit with old friends, and make some new ones.
Congrats to all the winners. Some very good shooting.
Take care,
BW

Another great match by DT1 and crew. Even though more than 1/2 the match is on short bays, David and his crew (Randal, Stefan, and others) really use their imaginations to come up with stages that are very challenging, while still being a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone that helped make it run so well. Always a good match.
Congrats to all the winners, some good shooting going on.
Thanks to all the sponsors. Very nice prize table. Thanks also to Robert and Peter for making me feel at home on 4 Sunday. Pleasure working with you both.
Take care.

OK ... I'm beginning to understand the 'easier' scoring system. The next question is probably the stage design one.
And one follow up, if I may: What is it about the 'Outlaw' matches that SHOOTERS seem to prefer over USPSA MG Rules? (Short list is OK, I'm not looking for War and Peace!)
Denise sums it up very well, but I would like to add this. While getting ready to go out to RM3G a while back, I showed my oldest son the rules for the match. I think it was three pages long, most of it was safety, and some stuff about different equipment per division. Then I showed him one USPSA rule BOOK, just for that one type match. There are so many rules, trying to cover every little aspect that MAY show up, that it can take away a lot of the fun (and freedom) that a stage designer might want to put in.
I hope you get all the certified ROs needed to put on the nats.

Well I heard that since some of the guys are over seas, that this years match will not be the same as the last. So to all you competitiors that have made it in, if there is a closer match for you, you might want to think about that and just skip this on for this year. Plus I heard it will sleet with howling wind in the morning and at noon will change and be 100+ degree with no wind and 99% humidity by 2:00 PM. The flee and tick infrestation is reaching epidemic preportions. The west nile mosquitos are multiplying at exponetial rates. I just want all you shooters to know that I am concerned about you and you saftey. I humbly submitt to you that I will carry the burden of such drudgery for my fellow shooters.
There is a glimmer of hope that things might change if 10 shooters drop out befor the match.
Yes I am on the waitng list but I do not want to disclose what position.
It would truly be a good thing if no one had to drop out. I know that the only way I get good news is for someone else to have already recieved the bad news so it is bitter/sweet for me to get in now, but hope I still do. To whomever make it possible, I do apprieate it and hope all goes well.
Ty, you are good. I was actually moved by it, well something moved, not sure what, I'll have to get back to you on that.
Seriously, I wish everyone could get it. Sorry for the folks that didn't.

I got DQ'd before even getting registered. I sat with my trigger finger hovering over the button for 1 1/2 minutes. The countdown was at 09:29:58 when an involuntary twitch of the finger and it was all over. "To Soon" appeared on the screen.
For those that made it in, be safe, have fun, get lots of video.
Brian, sorry to hear you didn't get in. I was hoping to shoot with you and my other buddy from up there again come December. I had a ball shooting with everyone at BRM3G. Please tell him I said Hey!

And away we go.

Anyone have an experience with Olympic's .243 WSSM or .25 WSSM? I've been considering a longer range upper, but there are so many variations. I would like to get something that is not a complete wildcat, so that I can get brass, dies, etc. without going the custom route on everything.

Great video. I was hoping someone would get a video of Stage 8
HiCapMag shot the stage, then went through with the camera. He used IR, so even though it looks like it lit it up, the only light was from the Surefire. We did this around 9:45 Sunday morning, just before the last few shooters were allowed in.

A BIG thanks to Andy, Tammy, Mike, Nick, Nate, Allen, Barrett, Sabre, and EVERYONE that worked so hard so that I could come out and play. Great stages, SUPER ROs, lots of fun.
The "secret stage" was great, I vote "best stage of the year".
Good to see old friends, and make new ones. Good shooting with squad 12. Congrats to "Rabbit" for great shooting and getting into the shoot-off.
As far as the weather. Like everyone else, I watched the forcast, I knew the possibility of it getting cancelled, I made the decision to go, and I live with MY decision. I shot 7 before the rain, and it was slick then. I would not want to do it after the rain. People running on hills and trails after all that rain would have been asking for broken arms, legs, or worse. I really enjoy natural terain matches, and the weather is always a factor to consider when going to one. Andy made the right decision for the safety of EVERYONE involved. It was a tough one, but the right one. Thanks Andy!

Heavy Metal Lite??

Getting to some stages may be a challenge, especially if we drive through fields to get there. The local farmers may get to make some extra income pulling folks out. Anyone up for a hay ride?

Hey Trap.
Sorry to hear about Scout. I know he's had some health issues for a while, and you've done all you could to make him comfortable. You two made a great team.
God bless both of you.

Eddie taught me so much about shooting He-Man. He was "the man"
Always had a smile on his face and a little chuckle in his voice everytime I saw him. He truely loved to shoot.
Rest in peace my friend.
