Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I attached a lee carbide cutter ( the one that you have to attach the caliber specific ends to, its supposed to be a "hand trimmed and comes with the different shell holders. Anyway, I attached it to my rcbs trim mate case prep center. I can trim debur and chamfer and clean the primer pockets on about 10 rounds a minute. Case prep center was I think 100 bucks the lee trimmer I think isless than 20 bucks and paid about 10 bucks for the parts and tools to attach the cutter. MUCH CHEAPER than any of the other "all in one centers" and it cuts to the exact same length every time. Will post pics. And if anyone is interested I can do a write up on how to attach the cutter system to the rcbs trim mate
  2. Anyone use Missouri bullets for 40 major? I live about 20 minutes away from their facility and was thinking about trying them. They say the 40 cal bullets are hardened for major loads, but not sure about combo of powder to use to get the least amount of smoke and least amount of leading. I would shoot them in a STI 2011 with a factory 5" barrel. If you have any experience with them in a 2011 please post your reload formula.
  3. Yes, what was the OAL? I am considering using the same bullets in my 5" 2011. Also is that a factory barrel? And what type of crimp are you using?
  4. New to competition shooting, recently purchased the STI legend 5" chambered in .40 s&w. Wanting to know a good major PF load that has worked well for you. I shoot in a pin shoot regularly on tues and thurs and am starting to shoot this coming Tuesday in a weekly indoor ispc league/competition. I have been shooting winchester WB for the most part, but I have been wanting to load my own. I am already familiar with reloading but all I have loaded for is my .45acp carry gun. I like to reaload and enjoy tinkering with the loads but I just want to figure out a load quickly that has worked for others to make major in a 2011 with 5" barrel. Not trying to copy, just want a good starting reference point Would prefer the softest load that will easily make major, would like to use lead since it appears to be much cheaper but i am very unfamiliar with it. Please state bullet type, gr., powder used, primer, and oal that has worked well for your 2011. If you have OF data for your load that would be great as well. Or any tips to go along with lead loads would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Clay
