  1. I've gone through about 4,000 Missouri bullets and have been pleased although I have used no other coated bullets to compare them to. Does Blue, Bayou, Eggleston, SNS, Acme, or any other company make a better coated bullet or is it a case of vanilla vs. chocolate vs. strawberry?
  2. I've been reloading MBC 125 gr SWC and wondered about the effects of the seating depth. I've calculating the OAL at 1.08 and seating depth is ~.287 and wondering at what point I'm wandering into an over-pressurized zone. http://missouribullet.com/details.php?prodId=207&category=5&secondary=8&keywords= MBC does say to seat its 124g RN to a seating depth of 1.08 which is about where I'm ending up. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  3. I finally decided on a press and got the Forster Co Ax. It was its precision and attention to detail that won me over in the final analysis. I probably won't use all of its horsepower reloading just handgun rounds but that's ok. If I ever need it, I've got it. Thanks for everyone's help...you guys are great!!!
  4. I've looked at Lee, RCBS, Dillon, Hornady, and others and everyone makes quality presses. The only two I am interested in are the Co Ax and T-7.
  5. Thanks Flight and Guy. I've decided I'm going to spec each item out separately and have done so already. The only thing I haven't nailed down is whether it's a Co Ax or T-1 but it will be one of the those two for sure.
  6. New to reloading and ready to my first press. I will only be reloading for 45LC and 9mm. No rifle rounds (other than 22LR) and just casual shooting at the range. No competition. My shooting volume is very low, something in the neighborhood of 150 rds/month. I poured over untold numbers of reloading forums and YouTube videos and was convinced that I would get a Forster Co Ax. I've since migrated over to the T-7 camp. I'm not interested in a progressive of any stripe including the Dillon BL 550. I'd rather focus on each phase of reloading and take my time. I neither need nor want to produce lots of ammo. If, at a later date, a Dillon is in cards, so be it. I'll just get it but for now it's not in the cards. Given the above would the Redding T-7 be my best bet or was my original assessment of the Co Ax more on target?
  7. Do you know if it is easily removed and reinstalled and removed again? Or is it intended to be installed and left alone?
  8. Gator, thank you. That is incredibly generous of you to offer. I'd meet you in a minute but I live in NYS.
  9. I was looking at this particular site base for the Shadow T: http://czcustom.com/ctssliderackersightbasets.aspx It says, "Fits in the CZ 75 Shadow T & SP01 Shadow Target series with a Fully Adjustable Target Sights"
  10. Can the sight base and slide racker easily be inserted and removed on a Shadow T? I was wondering if it was possible to install it, and a C-More, and use it when I want to shoot with a red dot then remove them and insert the adjustable sight for use with IDPA.
  11. Where I live you won't find either at a gun shop. I have tried other models by STI and CZ and they both felt great. That's the problem when you consider buying something the is not vanilla, chocolate or strawberry around here. You ask around and hope someone has one or you buy buy on a wing and a prayer. I went to my club's IDPA session tonight and everyone had a Glock, Sig or Beretta.
  12. I considered a 5" Trojan but, in the end, knew I would want a compensator and red dot. I figured that I would end up with a hodge-podge if I went that route. It would probably cost as much, if not more, and it would not be a real "unit" like the MM, SM or Trubor. I put DC Ammo in my favorite places as a source for ammo. Is the MatchMaster major only?
  13. Budget is less than $3k. I already have a fun "open" 22 gun with a red dot and Tac Sol barrel so that's covered.
  14. I've been looking to get a 9mm with a compensator and red dot for the sheer fun of it at the range. I'm new to shooting so the notion of a big heavy blaster has me intimidated. I do not reload so factory ammo for now. Maybe I'll love it and start to reload and even go to matches. Conversely, maybe I'll hate the gun so I'd want to be able to sell it and return to my 22s which I do enjoy. Looking for something that is already built, on the low end of cost, has less recoil and could be sold if I don't like it. The STI MM, SM and Trubor have my attention and I've have been reading about them on this forum. Any thoughts about these three for just a fun gun? If all three could fit the bill, which would be the most fun given my situation? Thanks in advance.
  15. I'm not a handy person so tinkering, or fine tuning, a pistol myself is out of the question. I wish I were mechanically oriented, because it looks like it would be fun, but as Clint Eastwood once said, "A man's gotta know his limitations." That may tip the scale in favor of the CZ Shadow. There is no way to handle either gun as no one anywhere close has them in stock. One gun shop locally does have both an STI Spartan and a CZ Kadet and I handled both today. I think they are reasonably similar in weight and size to the Trojan and Shadow. If the feel is also similar then either would work as both felt great in my hand.
  16. Following up on Torogi's question, do you mean IPSC or USPSA? - You're correct, it USPSA. It's sounds like the CZ 75 Shadow/Shadow T would be best way to go to preserve as many options as possible down the line.
  17. Looking to get something from the Custom shop. A Shadow, Shadow T, or an SP-01 Shadow. Even though I don't intend to use it in a shooting sport I would like to know what qualifies for IDPA and IPSC before I order one. From what I've read the Shadow, and Shadow T, (DA/SA) qualify for IDPA but the SP-01 would not unless I can get the weight to 39 oz. I live in a state where a 10-round mag is that max. As far as IPSC, it seems from the rule book that anything that comes from the CZ Custom shop is not legal. Am I even close?
  18. I'd like to but my wallet won't allow that option. It's telling me to chose Door #1 or Door #2.
  19. I'll be deciding this week about getting a CZ Shadow T or a STI Trojan in 9mm. People on the CZ forum make their case why the Shadow is a better choice between the two. I'd love to hear from 1911 owners why an STI Trojan would be a better choice. First, this pistol will be used strictly for fun at the range. I may or may not become involved in shooting games. Second, if I were to get a CZ Shadow it would be through the CZ Custom shop so the Trojan would be compared to something Angus has tinkered with. Your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.
  20. I'm new to firearms and have used only 22s in both handguns and rifles at the two gun clubs I belong. I'm looking to step up to a 9mm for use at the range only. No carry. Shooting games? Who can say, maybe. Not buying it for that but would like to buy one could be multi-discipline. I was settled on choosing one of the Shadows until I read through several threads about unintentional discharges and the FPB being removed in all the Shadow models. Being a newbie, should I opt for selecting a model that has it intact or is that needlessly over-worrying? What model CZ with a FPB would be the most fun for target shooting?
  21. Do you mind my asking who has them in stock?
  22. Looking for a CZ to use at the range. Which models can accommodate a red dot? I can't afford a Czechmate but would like a Shadow if a red dot can be mounted to it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  23. In my area, very few gun shops carry CZ and those that do carry only a few. I've handled the Kadet (.22lr) and the SP01 and both felt terrific. I prefer a full-size model and will only use this at the range. No carry. I'm interested in one of the Shadow models, perhaps the SP01 Shadow Target, but will not be able to handle any of them before buying. Would it be fair to say that if the SP01 felt right one of the Shadows should feel about the same?
