  1. I think I'LL order a Chronograph any suggestions on one that will work good for my rifles as well? Thanks!
  2. I'm using same kit with factory recoil spring and CCI 500 Primers with no problems yet.
  3. I have installed the Apex Tactical Comp AEK Apex M&P Competition Action Enhancement Kit and Apex FRE Extractor. I noticed the loop in the trigger bar is completely closed on mine is that the way most of them come from the factory? I still have just a tiny bit of grit to the trigger pull but, it's a lot better now though at 3lbs. Seems I've read somewhere, about lightly polishing areas on the trigger bar to help smooth things even more anyone know about this procedure? Thanks! PS. The grit goes away with the slide removed if this helps any.
  4. I'll go ahead and give this load a try then if, it quits raining tomorrow. Thanks a lot folks!
  5. I bought some Hornady 124gr. fmj rn. bullets to try in my m&p 9mm. I already had some TiteGroup in my RCBS Chargemaster so I loaded 20 rounds using Win. brass CCI 500 small pistol primers and 4.2gr. of TiteGroup with an OAL of 1.145. I couldn't seem to find much data for the Hornady at this bullet weight in my Hornady 8th edition manual but, does this load sound alright to try or should I maybe shorten the OAL a little for this charge? or is it too much, charge? I have other powders but, thought I would try a load with this powder first since it was already in the Chargemaster dispenser. I have AA#7, AA#2, and Win.231 to try. My main interest is in just shooting for groups at 15-25yds. Thanks!
  6. I've replaced the extractor with the Apex FRE have read a little about removing the sight and just hope I can do it without marring up the cosmetics. Thanks folks!
  7. Can anyone tell me what the large black looking part is for in this kit? Maybe to tap the rear sight with. Also, is a brass punch the best thing to use on the rear sight or is there better choices? Thanks! http://www.sportsmans-depot.com/products/Apex-Tactical-Specialties-Action-Enhancement-Kit-S%26W-M%26P-9%7B47%7D40-Trigger-Compentition-Action-Enhancement-Kit-Comp-AEK.html
  8. Well, since I know my gun will handle up to 1.165" COL should I experiment with a little longer than the 1.1" usually recommended for my 115gr. fmj OALs? Or would I have to increase the powder charge slightly? I've been wanting to try a little longer OALs like I do with my rifle loads but, wanted to check with you more experienced pistol loaders. Thanks!
  9. I emailed them today but, they may be closed still for New Years looking forward to trying their bullets though!
  10. I just checked another round out of the same box of Winchester White box and it was 1.163" with 2 different calipers. maybe, it's the difference in powders they use in factory ammo?
  11. I've noticed WWB and Remington factory 115gr. loads are around 1.164-65" OAL but, most of the data in my load data manuals calls for 1.100" or a little less? should I be trying different OALs with my loads within maximum/minimum limits or, does the powder charge have to be increased slightly to compensate? Thanks for all info!
  12. I just ordered some of these to try has anyone here dealt with this Co? If so what kind of experience did you have with them? Here's what I ordered http://www.precisiondelta.com/detail.php?sku=B-9-124-JHP and I have several different powders to try checked on another forum and was told they were slow at shipping and send no, tracking numbers? If so it will be my last order from them. Thanks!
  13. I am right handed but shoot with my left eye as I am left eye dominant and also, my vision in my right eye is very poor with Cataract. Appreciate the info folks!
  14. I was trying different things while trying to improve my group shooting at 15yds. It seemed, I kept shooting low right but I noticed if I made it a point to hold my head up more straight, my shots were landing pretty much at the right height but, still right about 2" from POA. Could the position of my head be the major problem with the elevation of my groups? I'm really, beginning to think I need to bump the rear sight slightly to the left but, need to figure out what to use to tap it over a slight bit without marring the slide etc. any ideas on that? Thanks!
  15. Well that figures, I just bought a bottle to try out.
  16. I'm shooting a M&P 40 with a KKM 40-9MM conversion barrel not the most accurate choice of pistols I'm sure. I have some AA#7 Powder and some tightgroup but, have tried neither yet. The target I posted the other day was with Hornady HP/XTP 147gr. rounds. I've been looking at some 1911 style pistols thinking about maybe saving up for something like that or any suggestions on a better pistol just for my own amusement shooting for groups and an occasional Possum at night when they try to get into my trash can would be welcomed. Thanks!
  17. Thanks for the compliment, I'll keep at it and try different loads and hopefully I can improve some more.
  18. Am I pulling my gun to the right, bad trigger pull, bad stance maybe? I think I am pushing my right hand forward until elbow locks but left elbow is slightly bent could that be causing the pulled shots? I'm thinking about installing an Apex trigger kit later on to lighten the trigger. I am used to light triggers on my rifles. Also, this time I shot using my left eye while still shooting with right hand as strong hand. also, a couple rounds went off at unexpected times by accident. Thanks for any opinions!
  19. Should I practice at a little closer range till I get more consistent? I saved the pdf file I've never seen that one before pretty nifty! I wondered if my barrel would handle the 147gn. bullets alright without keyholing and it seems like it does just fine. I have some 115gn. also and plan to get some 124-125 gr. to try. I am left eye dominant but shoot right handed but, my right eye is the worst with a cataract. should I be using my left eye to shoot with? I've tried both eyes open but it seems impossible since my right eye is so bad. If I shoot with one eye (left) should I cover the other lens with tape? It seems like if I close the other eye it causes the eye I'm aiming with to blur some but,it doesn't if I just cover the other eye with my hand. Sorry about all the questions but, really appreciate all the experienced help!
  20. I tried loading a few rounds today for my M&P 40FS with KKM 40-9mm conversion barrel installed. I usually shoot low and to the right a little but, it seems when I raised my head up a little higher today, my groups also went higher does this make any sense? I seem to shoot to the right even with the 40 cal. factory barrel installed. I have very little experience shooting pistols and poor eye sight so, it shows in my target. I plan to try shooting from a rest first before trying to move the rear sight adjustment though. I don't have much luck with the muzzle returning to the same position. I have plenty of grip strength so the pistol doesn't move around in my hands but, I must be doing something wrong as far as consistency I guess. Any suggestions other than practice, practice, and practice are sure welcomed. I shoot slow fire mainly for groups although, you couldn't tell from my target. Thanks! WOW! I'm not good with a camera either!
  21. Are you referring to a possible cause of keyhole problems by over crimping? Just trying to learn all I can about pistol loading. Thanks!
  22. I sent an email to KKM Precision Tech asking about the Hornady 147gn. HP/XTP bullets being able to stabilize in their 1:20" twist barrels and received one back saying they should work just fine. I guess there's only one way to find out for sure. I'll post the results for those interested.
  23. OK, I'll go ahead and use the FCD as directed in the manual then. Thanks folks!
  24. I received this die kit yesterday the FCD that comes with it is, the (Taper) and not roll crimp correct? I wanted to be sure about it's type before using it. Thanks! http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=0000690963
