They may not be stacking right. When you get to about 12 rounds make sure you use an uplula and continually press down on the top round 10 times or so in order to get them to stack perfectly. I’ve had this happen from time to time in my 170s.
You were absolutely spot on. I used an Uplula to load all rounds into the magazine. After loading up 12, I pressed down about 10 times, after which I was able to load another 6 rounds. Many thanks!

I'll give that a go. Thanks.

Just purchased a number of the MBX 126mm .40 mags, with the angled base pads (for IPSC) but I can only get 16 rounds n them!?

I've just purchased a some MBX mags for my 40 STI. As I shoot IPSC they are the 126mm with the angled basepad. However I only seem to be able to get 16 rounds in them, whereas all the commentary on the mags indicate I shoyld get 18, maybe 19.Any ideas?

Thanks everyone for their input.

When I compete, I have a couple of pairs of 5.11 Tactical pants, which are excellent.
I'm looking to get another pair specifically for RO'ing. As a result I'd like to get a pair that are as LIGHTWEIGHT as possible.
Anyone know which "model" of 5.11 pants are very lightweight?

Hello: I would try a different base pad like the Dawson or Double Tap ones. Thanks, Eric
I've come to the same conclusion. Just ordered a single Dawson Precision and a single Double Alpha base pad to see how they go.

just making sure, but have you tried winding the rear sight all the way down? that is allowable to fit it into the box. I'm sure you've tried that, but just checking. sometimes it can be the difference between fitting or not...
Yep, I have depressed the rear site - still doesn't fit... just.

Getting my DVC Ltd to fit the IPSC Box:
I shoot IPSC Standard division, which requires the pistol to fit the IPSC box.
I am using STI 126mm Mag tubes, Grams Springs & Followers with SVI +2 IPSC Base pads.
The pistol, with a msg inserted doesn't fit the IPSC Box by about 1mm. A bit much to think about taking material off the base pads to make the pistol fit.
I think my best bet is to replace my rear sight with something low profile.
But before I do anything, I thought I'd see what other DVC Ltd owners have done.

Update - issue has been registered with STI via the local agent. Sending my DVC to the agent so he can see for himself.

I understand that, but I don't have this issue. It doesn't explain why this is my only pistol having this issue. The oils in some people's sweat is very acidic and will cause hard chrome to rust. Have a friend that hasn't found a finish that he can't rust.

Correct - should be a hard chrome finish.

Due to some renovations, I placed all of my "toys" into storage at someone else's house for safe keeping. It included an AR and shogun in one rifle case and 6 pistols in another.
I have since taken possession again yesterday and was putting them away and I noticed quite a bit if rust on my near new STI DVC Limited! All of the other pistols were absolutely fine - except for the DVC.
Rust was found:
- on the rear sight
- on the rear slide serrations
- in the DVC Limited engraving

Thanks for the replies.
I'm aware that a lot of competive shooters have their guns/mags set up so the slide does NOT lock back on an empty mag, however I don't completely understand why?

I have been advised that the last round probably isn't sitting proud enough and expanding the spring a bit, especially the few coils closest to the follower, should help.

I have 126mm STI .40 mags, which I've upgraded with:
- SVI IPSC Base Pads
- TTI Universal Follower
- TTI 11 Coil Spring (with 1 coil removed)
I removed a single coil from the TTI spring as they were designed for 140mm STI mags.
I can get 18 x .40 rounds in the Mag, however in my DVC Limited when I get to the very last round in the Mag, the following happens:
1. The slide lock engages.
2. When you press the Slide Release the last round fails to feed.
I'm assuming I should just replace the springs without cutting them.

Thanks for that.Lol, it's not under that much pressure. Just wipe it down to remove any oil so you can get a good hold of it. Put it on a table and push down on the reverse plug (the cylinder in the front) the latch will automatically retract and you can slowly release the pressure. It's super simple. Before you take the stock spring out with the gun fully assembled, pull the slide back all of the way and draw a line with a sharpie somewhere on the frame and slide. When you put the new spring in make sure that the mark on the frame and slide align. If they don't and the slide is not coming all the way back then clip coils off of the spring until they do 1/4 coil at a time. If you don't do this the slide will short stroke from coil bind and this will damage your gun.

Thanks for that. But how do you physically change the spring in the device?Hello I have relaced the spring in my dvc open. I got my spring kit on ebay for around 25$. Research Nictaylor00 on youtube, "how to tune for faster double taps" its a video on how to choose the right spring. The spring pack has several springs from 7-11 pounds I believe. Just make sure the open end of the spring is positioned to the front of the gun. Also check for coil bind, I had to clip a few coils off othe the 10# spring.
When you get the Dawson rod out of the gun, it's locked under a lot of pressure. How ate you supposed to release this, replace the spring and lock it back under pressure without losing an eye?

I have a DVC Limited and find the recoil spring a little strong. As a result I'd like to reduce it.
Has anyone replaced the spring in their Dawson Tool Less Guide Rod? Any instructions anyone could share? What did you replace the spring with (brands, weights)?
Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
I'm just starting to shoot IPSC Standard Division. I have purcahsed myself a new STI in .40S&W with some 126mm STI mags (so the gun will fit the IPSC box).
I'm aware that although the STI mag tubes are pretty good, with the standard STI follower and base, they will have limited capacity. So, I have purchased, Taran Tactical base pads (4G), springs (designed for the 140mm tubes) and followers.
I'm wondering if anyone else is running this combination and if so, what capacity do people get with .40S&W rounds? Also, I assume to could probably cut a couple of coils off the springs since they were designed for a longer tube to assist with adding capacity?
Cheers,

I got my answer on another thread. I used an Uplula to load all rounds into the magazine. After 12 rounds, using the Uplula I just pressed right down about 10 times. After doing that, I was able to get another 6 rounds in the magazine.
