Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks Service Desk. We loaded some last week with 3.1 gr bullseye and with 5.3gr HS-6. All cut perfect holes. My best load so far was the 5.3 grains of HS-6. This week I'm looking at 5.2 , 5.3 , and 5.4 for accuracy. A friend is checking out hi bullseye load the same. Big differance in the hole on the targets from my hollow point to the SWCs. I have not gotten out my Chrono but will soon now that the weather is breaking. Skinner
  2. Well if anyone is interested, Sprindfield replied to my request and informed me the XD-9's are 1 in 10". Skinner
  3. What is a factory twist rate of a XD-9 tactical. Thanks Skinner
  4. OK loaded up a few with tight group 3.8 - 4.2 grain. 1.030 COl, They cycled the gun fine however some of the bullets were tumbling right from the start. Is there a trick to loading LSWC? this was my first try with them. Skinner
  5. Great information. Thanks guys! Once I get this going I'll post results. Skinner
  6. Sorry Jack I should ahve includedd that. It was late last night when I asked. Springfield XD 5". Not looking for any power factor just punching holes in paper, PPC. Bullet is lead No jacket or plating. Just wondering if anybody has been shooting these. Skinner
  7. Does anyone have load data for a 9mm 115 grain semi wad cutter? Care to share? I have been looking and cannot find any. Thanks Skinner
  8. I suspect from some frog orifice man, that really doesn't jibe with their "food grade" marketing assurances Frog legs are not food grade? Skinner
  9. Doesn't that put a lot of stress on the gun with such a light spring though? Thanks Roy Skinner
  10. The more I read abouit spring set up the more I get confused. FIrst newer to these mods and trying to learn. 9mm mainly for now. I figured with a high PF that most people would then shoot a gun with a stronger spring. Now I'm reading where some people are shooting mid 130 or so and using light springs some down as low as 11lbs. Some have stated that with a lighter spring the gun will not run. Many are using heavy bullets, but light springs. Doesn't this put a lot of stress on the gun and cause the slide to slam rearwards? I actually bumped my spring up to a 22lb for my XD 9mm service, using 115 HP bullets with 6.8 grains of HS-6. Can someone point me in a better direction of spring selection and what people are trying to accomplish? Ie I though muzzle flip is the muzzle jumping upward. Whats a hard recoil vs a soft? Now I'm getting the idea the flip is the spring pushing the slide closed................... Skinner
  11. OK so where do you get these belts and holsters from? I have not seen them in any stores. Skinner
  12. /quote] Try 147 gr bullets & N320 for less snap. Will do but I need to shoot up my 1,500 115hp first! Skinner
  13. Thanks for teh responses. It was in these forums and I still reading them about the poders and where I saw NOt to use the HS-6. I don't plan on running a comp off the barrel so no use there. When This runs out I will try the Titegroups and see how it goes. Skinner
  14. First I'm new to this site and kinda new to the pistol shooting. That said when I got my 9mm and starerd reloading for it I decided on hs-6 and 115gr bullets. My main shooting then was bowling pins and some uspsa. JUst completed my first PPC match. Anyway I read a post where a guy stated hs-6 is not a good comp powder. Why is this. I shoot production and ndidn't understand the PF as I do now. I just need to hit min correct? Since I am just about out of HS-6 should I change or stick with it. I ahev also been starting to tinker with my recoil springs but I went hearier for my XD service not lighter. IS this a wrong move? I'm still reading threads on soft recoil vs snappy........!!!!!!!!!
