  1. I did modify the striker block and did some sear work. I ordered the Apex spring kit, but it doesn't come with the striker block spring. It seems that I can feel that heavy spring compressing in the striker block when I pull the trigger.
  2. Can you order a lighter striker block spring by itself. I didn't see one in the Apex spring kit. If not, can a coil or two be cut off of it?
  3. I've been shooting CAS for a couple years now and am getting started in IDPA. Actually shot my first match on Saturday. CAS knockdowns are supposed to be calibrated for a factory 158 grain 38 special load to knock them down. However many clubs are getting away from using them because it has been hard to keep them calibrated. SASS sanctioned matches have a minimum power factor of 60. Don't laugh, but my 38 special loads have power factor of 68-70. One club had a plate rack and I always knocked those down with those loads. A 105 grain bullet with 3 grains of titegroup is a common load in CAS. I shot some poppers at the IDPA match Saturday with 9mm 147 grain bullets and had no problem with them. So, I have no complaints about how that club calibrates them.
  4. If you make an upward bend on the part of the trigger bar that lifts the sear it seems like that would take alot of the trigger take up out because it would raise the sear sooner. But it looks like it also makes the reset longer. Are there any problems that could arise from doing this? And is it more critical to have less take up or a shorter reset. In action shooting, it doesn't seem like the slightly longer reset would make much difference. Of course, the take up probably isn't a big deal either in action shooting.
  5. Can I stipple or texture the removable backstrap on the M&P and still be eligible for SSP? I saw a post on this when I did a search, but I can't find any rules clarification on it. Thanks.
  6. If I install the Apex Comp. Kit, are the springs still heavy enough to ignite all brands of primers, or do I need to stick to Federal?
  7. I've read the thread about the Pro shooting low, which mine does. 115 and 124 gr. 9mm bullets shoot extremely low. I had 2 other people shoot it with the same results. I have some 147's loaded to try, but I'd really like to shoot a lighter bullet, mainly because they are cheaper. So, avoiding the adjustable rear sight, what size front sight would you try to raise the POI. I think the factory height is .180". Would a .160 raise the POI very much? The 124's shoot about 6-8 inches low at 20 yards.
  8. Yeah, my Pro is pretty new. I suspected that larger sear spring could be making it a little heavier. I'll check it again. I could have been pulling it wrong. I'd like to get it down to about 4 lbs.
  9. Thanks for the replies guys. I might try that trigger job on Mr. Burwell's website. After that, I'll probably be ordering Apex parts!
  10. Just got my M&P Pro recently. I checked the trigger pull weight on a Lyman digital pull scale and with 3 pulls it averaged 6lbs 11 oz. Smith and Wesson advertises 4-5.5 lb trigger pull. Is it normal for the pro triggers to be that much heavier? Should I send it back or just have some trigger work done on it? Thanks for your time.
