Will do Kevin. I'm looking forward to it.

Sorry to hear about this
I've been tempted to order stuff likewise because new items are available first through DAA directly. Right now, I'm waiting on two newly announced items. However, I've always waited until they became available here through one of the US distributors i.e. CEDDAA or Shooters Connection.
Not to make you feel bad about having your goods lost/stolen/stuck in customs, but may I ask why you ordered the holster from DAA instead of a US distributor? The holster has been been available here for quite sometime.

The ear wax vaccum pump thing (can't remember the name). Best part is when the guy is cleaning his ears with Q-tips and screams AHHHHH! I just didnt know that Q-tips were that dangerous. We must now ban Q-tips!!!!!
I do get a nyuk-nyuk out of that one. What kind of maroon stuffs a qtip so far in the ear and so hard that it hurts?
well we just say all the weight loss dohickey's,,drink this, eat this, loose weight while you sleep..bull butter they dont work
Ditto - and there's always a news story later on about a product recall due to unintended medical side effects.
ever think of putting a hook in prfect polly and taking her fishing.
I can honestly say that has never occurred to me... but I haven't been fishing since I was a kid.
Keep'm coming folks. I think there's actually an As seen on TV store in a local shopping center nearby. I might have to go visit it for a few chuckles.

Today I shot my first match at Richmond. It was a really frustrating experience. I failed to properly seat the mag four times, and my XDm malfunctioned literally dozens of times. On some stages, I was getting a stovepipe or failure to seat between every shot! I think it was because 1) my gun was really dirty and dry - I had fired some 700 rounds through it without cleaning and greasing it before the match, and/or 2) I was not using a firm enough grip when shooting weak-hand only, which caused the gun to not cycle properly.
From now on, I will ALWAYS 1) clean and oil my gun before a match, and 2) seat the mag really hard. (I asked Alex to help me make dummy rounds so I can dry-fire reloads with a fully weighted mag.)
Esther,
You shot well. Even though everyone had their share of misses, etc... today, you hit when you aimed (for the most part) and you were safe shooting each stage. One could not ask for more. All of the above issues go away with the experience, some of which you have just started to collect.
On #4: You owe David an even bigger thanks than that. Remember what happened on stage 4? or thanks to David, what might have happened but didn't.

OK we've all seen some pretty cheesy, funny, stupid, etc... stuff advertised on TV. Post your favorite.
Seen today: Perfect Polly - a fake parakeet that turns its head and simu-chirps - 2 for $14.99

Oil - Yes, lots
Eye protection - Definitely

Unfortunately, as a practical matter, it's much easier to say "Ip-Sick" than "Us-P-Sa". I mean this in all seriousness.
I agree with making distinctions for purposes of clarity and not just in the shooting sports. Though not really a personal peeve, I certainly see the point in maintaining (and explaining to newbs) the distinction between IPSC and USPSA.

The bitter taste of poor quality lingers long after the sweet taste of a cheap price has past....

I can't say I've done gone on the brass hunt in the park or down the street....
Around here, the brass in the park or down the street is behind the police tape....

Welcome!
You can check the Richmond Rod & Gun club and specifically, the Richmond Hotshots website for information.
Cowboy, IDPA, USPSA and other shooting disciplines fill the calendar. There's somekind of match nearly every weekend.

time to go buy a lottery/power ball/sweepstakes ticket....
glad they turned up.

The aftermarket part, in this case from Smith & Alexander, apparently is keeping the three-bladed flat spring from extending far enough to push the grip safety out to where it will work.
The new MSH is quite a bit thicker (fore to aft) than the one in the gun, but before I get to really filing on it I wanted to confirm my belief that I will have to seriously reduce the thickness of the MSH to get the grip safety to work. The profile of the Smith & Alexander MSH looks very different from the one in the gun, and from the drawings of the 1911A1 part. Handily, the drawing has no dimension for the thickness of the part: http://www.m1911.org...11-A1_REDUX.pdf

Chris
It may be that, due to the thickness of the S&A MSH unit, you may have to bend the grip safety leg of the sear spring (the three-bladed flat spring) outwards/rearwards to fully/properly engage the grip safety.
Just a thought....

Got me - and I don't even reload.

Yeah, fishing, whether you are catching or not, is fantastic.
... and napping, whether you're fishing or not, is fantastic too.

... BTW, I prefer to sit down if the truth be known....
My life is now complete. I have something in common with TGO....

Does anyone make a basepad that would get you ~20 rounds of 40 in a a126mm mag?
If so, that might be the ticket....

I should have been more clear; I was referring to exceptions which I thought would be germane to the topic since I felt his experience was the exception rather than the rule for SV work.

OK, in the words of Sheriff Buford T. Justice, "The gol durn Germans ain't got nothin' to do with it!!"
Sorry. I couldn't help myself. I've always wanted to use that line.

It's the most fun you can have with your pants on.
Welcome!

As long as the gun is solid, meaning it goes bang everytime you pull the trigger, you'l be fine.

I was out of shooting the last time. Nevertheless, this time even I could see it coming so I bought before the fit hit the shan.
I don't shoot as much as some and I'm converting to one caliber so I figure I have enough for the better part of this year. By the time my supply runs out, I should have a press up and running again and I'm hoping that components will be available.

It doesn't translate so much to shooting, but good knife skills in the kitchen put a premium on efficiency/minimum of movements.
-
HA Good analysis. It was an example though. The point I was trying to make was when I do stuff, I try to use the least amount of time. Efficiency is the name of the game.
Now fess up...how many of you got this mysterious problem?
<<bows head and raises hand>>
Other symptoms include air gunning, doing the duck walk and opening doors with the weak hand low and gun hand high.

You could improve your sugar/creamer transition by keeping the spoon in the right hand and picking up the creamer with your left hand

If you have previously fit another brand i.e. EB, Wilson, etc... the procedure and safety checks are the same.
