I have owned all of the above. SVI STI and now a X5. The quality of the X5 is on par with all as far as I am concerned. 25 round mags for 9 mm are available.

For what its worth my MKA runs about 100% With Estate 1200 1 1/8 loads. I wondered about the RIO and have seen the hulls but never seen them on the shelf.

I would LOVE a new Vortex 1-6. I held one in my sweaty hands at the NRA meeting this weekend and yet my Meopta 1-4 will hit anything out to the max I shoot at of about 350. I was gold last season as long as I spent Friday at the range banging the flasher. at 350. I made up a lot of handgun lost points with HV targets at range. This season I am not prepared and it showed badly yesterday. Practice not money. But Id still buy the Vortex if I had the spare coin now.

I see toothandnail is offering a 23 round mag. Has anyone tried one yet and used it in a match? I'm probably going to try one unless I hear negative feedback.

Another vote for the 650. I had a 550 for a few years and upgraded. Kicked myself for not going 650 out of the gate. The auto index is the biggie for me. Almost NO way to miss a charge or make a mistake. I have loaded thousands of rounds of several cals and NEVER had a squib. Buy once and cry once.

ZEN STATE or just to lazy or self important to pick up. IF the Dalai Lama shot my squad and did nothing to help but feel important and refuse to paste Id take a new shooter willing to pitch in.some posts are hard to find a reply to make sense.
I expect if you had the dalai on your squad... the pasting for the entire squad would be done.
(while you are shooting.... and the scoring would also be done just after you showed clear)

on a slightly more serious side, a zen master has duties and obligations.
I understand they are often done in a state of meditation.
some one failing to help in a group activity is being rude and
using zen techniques to ace a stage is not the definition of a zen master...

My truthful reply in real words. OP is a dick. Anyone who has suffered squading with him agrees. This is a decade old fact. He has left a really lasting impression on those of us who were stuck with him. I remember 2 different IDPA matches. One I cant remember where, maybe in Kentucky for and one in the Devils Hole? Plus one near Pittsburgh and one we were "blessed" with him and his man servant (think bonds secretary) in the '04 Indiana State. A real class act. Plus a couple other odd matches. Never met a shooter more disliked by all EVER.

I believe it is a LOT like blinker fluids: playing on sombody elses' ignorance to pump up a bottom line.
Start eating in a more healthy way for you: rotate your fruits and vegetables regimen, decrease portions sizing, increase the # of smaller meals you eat per day, whatever it is that keeps you motivated change it up until you find what you like and feels great for your body/mind.
Stop eating at fast food joints. Those meats are pumped up with so much crap it is unhealthy , that it kills lab animals. You know what happens when negative/toxic lab results come from lab animals? The client deems those results invalid as the subjects were not human. Here's the little secret many of you already know: fast food "meat" products are FULL of soy products and by-products, which is an estrogen mimicker. It tricks a male system into imbalance and literally shuts down your testosterone productions. Removing those estrogen mimickers from your diet is about 50-75% of the problem, depending on what your exercise regiment is like.
Exercise to muscle failure with low impact aerobic work out, THEN move on to whatever you sort of weight work you want to do, drink lots of water to flush out the acids your workout is making.
Stop drinking the energy drinks; Monster, 5 hour, NOS.
Start sleeping more, make these integrated living changes slowly into your daily regimen and you'll be relatively normal in no time at all. Most of us just have bad habits we developed over 20 or 30 years and undoing them takes more time than just a pill or a DR. office visit for TRT.
So tell me how old you are? No way your over 40. Probably closer to 30. I was to about a million years ago. And I knew even more then than I do now!

My "opinion" places prescription medications into different classifications. For example, high blood pressure and cholesterol lowering medications (among many others) are life saving drugs. Whereas, testosterone replacement and erectile dysfunction drugs are for non-life threating "social issues".
And it is, again my opinion, that social issues can be addressed through one's life style. That's all I'm saying . . . my opinion
SO your saying if we just all eat the same we will be the same? Ever heard of genetics and that we are all a bit different? This isn't necessarily a "social issue". It may have escaped your attention that many of us on this also no longer need diabetic meds, loose weight which helps heart health which is the single biggest issue for men. IF doing this saves lives by being in an overall better state of health what does that do to your argument?
Not to try and be insulting but your in the old school mentality that wont look at what the good side of this can do. I see it all the time with people I work around. Guys who have the attitude that god made us to get slow down, accept being old, line up for dinner at the golden corral at 5pm. I also work with a many men who do this and are hand on the bible grateful for what it has done for them. When you work someplace that has 3K folks in it you do get to hear a wide variety of opinions.
I have had my eyes opened by this that men have been conditioned by society that when you hit a certain age or state of mind your supposed to accept it and start shopping for rocking chairs. Wake up. BTW I no where mentioned anything about needing ED meds. That was YOUR conclusion or need.
Get out of the cocoon and be a little more open to the modern world. Heck,, there is this new drug called penicillin you may not have heard of.

Your "opinion" that we don't need the replacement theory is hogwash. Based on your logic we also don't need things like blood pressure meds, diabetic meds, and even silly things like inooculations from smallpox and chickenpox. I mean if dying young early from treatable conditions was good enough for mom a and dad by god it's good enough for us. Heck lets just shun all modern medicine and live on nuts and berries. Kind of like Euel Gibbons. Remember him? He dropped dead from a heart attack at a relatively young age. Let's not forget Steve Jobs. He turned his nose up at modern meds and went some kind of holistic healing crap. He figured out too late he was stupid because he admitted had he seeked out modern medicine earlier he would have survived.
You guys do what works for you. I KNOWS what IS working for me and a lot of us.

Im wanting to put on a longer AP Custom tube on my JP15. I have the 18" medium contour barrel and would like a setscrew mount like a Vltor instead of a clamp on. JP makes a clamp on and will go that way if I have to but Id like to find a less expensive one if I can. Anyone have some feedback on one they used?

The way I look at this issue with Springfield is they picked up the tab, fixed it, and gave everyone a mag. Who gives a rat's ass what was said and how long it took to accomplish the recall? I don't think anyone else makes a better gun for the size of the XDs. If you can't stand Springfield because of this so be it, I don't really think anyone will be swayed by your opinion of Springfield.

Well, if you sell all your SA pistols I'm pretty sure there would be no reason to buy anything from Rich. I think if you had ever delt with SA customer service outside this recall your opinion would be as jaded. I've had XD's since SA first took over the imports and have put thousands of rounds through them all. I've had parts break and every time I called I got through to customer service within minutes. All they ever asked me for was a serial number and an address to send the part or parts too. Even on my 8 year old XD 9 I was able to get a new cocking indicator sent to me. As much as I love my CZ Shadow, I have to foot the bill on all the wear and tear on that pistol. The majority of manufacturers don't have that kind of service so I won't let a slow turn around in one massive recall taint my opinion.

I just want to clear the issue a bit. I have bought 2 XDTactical packages from Canyon Creek. They are great guns. I think Rich does good work and he should be proud of his reputation and quality of work. I think I have also bought a few parts from him as well but not sure. My issue is NOT with Rich or Springer Precision which sold me my XDm 5.25 9mm that I used for 3G for a years or so. I am very much happy with the XD platform and have been a fanboy and lobbied for them to people based on my satisfaction. The TRP was OK but not special. M1A, I don't really know what you can say except its the perfect example of 30 cal battle rifle for me.
I have a shitload of XD odds and ends from the years in my house. I even still have a couple M1A mags I came across recently and I don't have a 308 platform anymore. Not to mention the XD mags NIB Im hanging on to due to bammy and co.
In short I will probably be sad I cant/wont ever buy a Springfield product again but this is an issue that shows that they are more lawyer and profit driven that product and customer driven. Its similar to the reason I will not patronize AR15.com or anyone who knowingly and willing supports the scum at cheaper than dirt. There is another whole bag of worms and I wont expand on that. I think that was done a while ago.
I support companies who seem to have a soul and support the freedoms we all take for granted. Its hard to do it lately but I pick and choose my battles and I pick this one.

Just imagine the flip side of this story. They knew there was a problem with some of these guns, but because they didn't have a fix they didn't recall them. Someones gun malfunctions and someone gets hurt or god forbid killed. The media would be calling for there heads as well as the lawyers suing them out of business forever. I understand why they handled it the way they did. I don't like it as they have had my XDs 45 for over two months now, but any major manufacturer would have done the same in my opinion.It's just part of this crappy society we live in these days IMHO. I've had a lot of SA guns as well as many others, and this one won't be my last.
I refuse to accept any excuse for this.
If they had declared a safety issue from the get go and simply said they were going to make it right somehow all would be good. They would have gotten props for manning up and dealing with it.
LYING out of the gate about HAVING a fix let them dig their own hole. Ef them.

I also had no luck with BP slugs but Fiocchi Areo 7/8 oz slugs run 100% and are VERY accurate out of my gun.
I also tried B&P. Eventhough they shot really soft, they didn't produce enough gas to run the action. I haven't found any 7/8 oz. Fiocchi to try yet, but tried some 1 0z and they don't seem to want to feed, eventhough Jim put the full ramp mod. on my gun. So far, I've had best results with Remington, low recoil. None of the slugs I've tried shoot very accurate out of my Firebird. The group sizes are about double that of my JP 1100, but, the JP has the dot sight melted in to the barrel whereas the sight on my Firebird is on the receiver and it is possible the bbl is moving a little in the reciever
Mine continues to "break in". For birdshot, the 1200 fps Remington Gun Club shells run 100%. Several months ago I tried some 1145 fps shells and reliability dropped to less than 50%. Now after lots more shooting, those "light" 1145 fps loads now run about 80% of the time. Still not good enough for a match, but in time they may work.
For slugs I've been running Remington Managed Recoil (1200 fps) 1 oz slugs. Checked the C-more to see if I needed to make any adjustments. I had a 3 shot group at 40 yards that made a tight cloverleaf. That was with the Carlson Extended "LM" choke in place. These slugs also run nicely with the "CYL" choke.

Im curious if you have replaced your recoil spring from the original or the FB spring if you have a FB gun?
I replaced mine last spring after a fair amount of rounds. Comparing the replacement spring with the older one it was obvious it was a inch shorter relaxed. Nanci sent both the OEM and the spring FB puts in. Before I replaced the spring it would also run 1200 stuff. It will now as well but I feel better with the minor extra poop. I just wish it would run some of the heavy loads but it just wont. Pheasant loads wont run. I just change chokes now.

I got a smoking hot deal on my X5 Competition this summer in 9mm. $1600 for a never shot used gun a guy had in his safe. Found it on the SIG forums.
I love it.
I friend has a tactical and had the Houge grips on it and I followed suit. I also put in a Dawson FO front sight. Love the gun. The MecGar mags in the 20 round flavor have to have the base pads shaved with a dremel slightly to fit.
I have sent a half dozen emails to the guy who supposedly makes the 24 round extensions but I have never heard back. Im still looking for a higher capacity mag since I shoot open in 3-gun.
I have seen a few places that advertise the SIG factory 25 round 9mm mags and am the notify list but still have not heard a peep.

Initially I used a Firebird 15 rd magazine spring and new style (longer) follower in my Roulette magazine and it ran 100% but would only hold 17 rds.
Later I got a genuine Roulette spring and short follower. Excellent quality products. Now it holds the full 18 rds and it still runs 100%.

So which way is the new ones set up? The Firebird spring and follower or the Roulette spring and follower. I didn't see the follower on their website. Just the complete mag.

I just ordered one of these. I feel good if its a FB related product. I have a FB gun and my own assembled 15 rounders work perfectly. Just looking for some more capacity. Do these use the same spring as the 15 round kits from FB?

I know they are not all over the country yet and I feel fortunate they opened one within a reasonable distance from me. I am pretty much the poster boy for what they do. Its under a doctors supervision and I have been doing this for about 8 months.

Over the last 10 plus years eating better and staying active has not helped loose weight, getting my testosterone up has made it possible. I no doubt I would not be able to have the success I do on my own.
What makes me feel 100% comfortable with this is I am under doctors supervision with this and regularly tested and monitored along with seeing my internist. I no longer need to take diabetes medicine as my numbers have all gone back to a normal level after several years on the meds and several years earlier of high blood sugar numbers.
There is a couple side effects which to me are acceptable trade offs. For one my hair is growing faster and most noticeable if I don't shave for a day. I have always been high normal on blood pressure and it crept up over the last couple months so I am on a ARB blocker (I requested this family after learning about it as a part of what I learned on this whole issue). I'm now lower than I have been in some time on BP. Its a fairly common effect of this but as long as its treated a much better thing than fighting weight related diabetes which I no longer have.
I know this is a lifelong change for those who do this. Part of this process is my own body which made only so much testosterone now is pretty much making none since it sees plenty. And if I stop taking shots my body may not make it anymore regardless. Plus there is a couple of other minor issues that may happen to some users. I also had to be tested after my first month for FREE testosterone to get a more accurate dosing to get the results I needed. And as far as the estrogen issue that is part of what is tested for on a regular issue. As a precaution I take a very small dose of Arimidex every other day.
I know guys who use the gels with mixed results and honestly want nothing to do with the OTC snake oil stuff(IMO) If its not under a MDs supervision its just hype from what I have read after a lot of study.
Anyway its been the fountain of youth for me and my wife seems VERY happy as well. My insurance pays for it except a $30 copay for each shot and I have that figured into my flex health care fund at work so its pre tax dollars.
I kind of thought there would be more men looking into this kind of treatment. It may not be for everyone but if your over 40 and have some of the symptoms take a look.

I'm a personal trainer for a living. My male clients over 45-50 who are on TRT get great results from exercise. My clients who are NOT on TRT get much lesser results. PERIOD. Healthy Test levels are CRITICAL to health, fat loss, muscle RE-gain, and overall energy and vitality.
The risks are greatly over-blown, and the medical profession is very quickly coming around to more recent studies showing VERY minimal sides and negative effects. While the UP-side is huge.

My weight is now down to about 190 and I hope to get more off. My goal isn't a number but how I look. Also like I mentioned going to every week for a shot vs every 10 days helps my level stay steady. After a couple years on this path I am even more convinced its such a life changer for me. My original weight was about 260-265 and its been a SLOW loss which is the best way.
AND I am feeling so good most of the time I could make a 20 year old girl beg for mercy.

Anyone use CCI small rifle primers for 9mm minor reloads? I have used Winchester SRP but want to standardize for 223 and 9mm and CCI SRP is first choice.
